1. Passing resemblance is right not a copy so I don't see a problem. I spoke to Mike at the bassday and said it was in the same ballpark shape wise but I didn't say stop making it or anything like that so fire away guys. Alan
2. Steady,I didn't say properly just the way I do it.
3. No trouble. When you get round to finishing it if you have any questions drop me a mail and I can tell you how I go about it. Alan
4. You would be better with a hard finish on the Redwood as it is usually pretty soft so would dent very easily. At least that is my experience with the Redwood I have. Alan
5. I am surprised you had such problems finding a builder and equally so that you could not get a pickup or strings. I had no problems with getting the pickups made in this country and the strings were easy enough to get a hold off. Aesthetically the 9 string in this thread is not really my type of thing but the wood working skill in the making of it is fantastic and it would be churlish for anyone to say otherwise.
6. They are all on my site it might not be restricted.
7. I use the Hipshot Type A with the Ghost saddles and have been happy with it. I use it with a pre-amp. Alan
8. I like them as well. Just done a fretless with a piezo bridge and a mag really nice range of sounds. Also have a Ghost pre-amp with various extra in the for sale section. Alan
9. The wenge Recurve was up stairs in it's case so Eude did not see that one. Just like to thank Eude for a good day loads of chat and a second opinion on all the basses. Alan
10. Forgot to bump this this week.
11. Aaron Armstrong will do that for you.
12.
I brought my 'ray from the BassMuppets in Denmark St for about £1300 "brand new" (notice the quotes, turned out it wasn't brand new, but that's another tale) with some insurance money from a crash. I know I was shafted, and could've got it for cheaper, but I've never regretted payin that much cos I've grown with the bass, and tweaked and fettled the setup and intonation and experimented with strings etc etc etc and now I've got a bass that feel so RIGHT I can't think of any reason to buy another! I think I'll probably spend more, if I find a bass that would give me a worthwhile improvement on my 'ray, but I've not found one yet! There are some blahdy tasty customs out there that would tempt me to spend £2k+. ACG, Shuker, RIM, GB etc etc look freakin awesome, and sound incredible but I need to be 100% that I wouldn't just go "ooh, that looks very pretty, now hand my my Stingray, I've got a gig to go to!"
Hi I would just like to say that ACG basses are not in the £2k price range unless you are looking for a fully loaded 9 string and even then it does not quiet make the 2k.
13. This set up consists of the Ghost bass pre-amp,Ghost quick switch assembly and the Ghost mid/dark push/push volume pot. Used in conjunction with a piezo equipped bridge. The quick switch lets you switch between piezo piezo/mag mag. The pot allows control over the piezo volume and lets you use the other EQ setting in the pre-amp. This is unused and has all the cables jack socket battery clip and the instructions. Retail it is £165.00 Looking for £100 inc delivery. If you want the full set up including a Hipshot bridge I can supply a bridge as well. Contact me for details. Cheers Alan
14. I think you are safe.
15.
These look good and probably sound good as well, but where are the customers for a £3000 bass in the UK? BG, Overwater, Sei, RIM, ACG, the newly resurrecting Wal and others are already fighting over a very small customer base. The pickup is unique and flexible but didn't we discover in another thread that most of us get a sound we like then rarely change the tone controls? I wish Enfield Guitars good luck and think they'll need it starting up, as they are, on the verge of a recession.
How I wish I was fighting away in the 3K bracket unfortunately no where near that as far as my prices are concerned.
16. If you are use a pre-cat lacquer you must wear a suitable mask one suit to organic vapours. It has numerous carcinogenic compounds in it while spraying and drying.
17. You have more hair
18. Nice work Andy. If they sound anything like the 10 I heard that was built by Dave Perry you will be well pleased with them. Alan
19. Very nice bass this one had a small shot of it and Peter is a top guy to deal with. Alan
20. Very nice Mike an absolute beauty.
21. PM sent.
22. The C will be for chrome. It is the same thing as far as I can see. I can do them a bit cheaper than that but the wait my be a bit longer as ordering a single item from them does not make a lot of sense with regard to carriage. Alan
23. Looks like a Gotoh GB 7. hipshot If you have trouble getting one Ican order one up with my next Hipshot order. Alan
