  1. Might try to come along if I have a bass to bring. Alan
  2. Hi The lower ring on the stack is 20 mm in diameter. Alan
  3. Hi With the 5 knob version of the EQ02 3 of the knobs are single with the other two stacks. Looking at the pic I don't think it would be a problem. I will get the outside diameters of the lower ring of the stack for you later tonight. Alan
  4. Have been in contact with all parties in this deal I would be happy to recommend all as great people to deal with. Alan
  5. I would be surprised if they came in at that as that was the price before Pete stopped making them. I paid nearly 2K for 4 string in 2001/2.
  6. All the body shape I have are no bigger than they need to be in order to accommodate the hardware and work on an aethestic level. Scale length and woods are at customer discretion but if it is full of heavy woods I would point this out before we get under way. I am with you on the basses being as small as is reasonable.
  7. Are you playing the bass almost like a classical guitar with the lower bout between your legs. I find that quiet comfortable way of playing and makes the lower horn a non issue. I don't know of a bass in that part of the wordls Andy would be the closest. There will be one in Oxford in a few months if that helps. Alan
  8. Hi The neck does not need to be asymmetric it is what I do unless asked not to but it is up to the customer at the end of the day. With regard to balance,it depends on the model. As all my basses have a off set this moves the lower horn back a bit and on top of that I like smaller lower horns. The recurve should be fine but the Harlot is more a strap bass and I would say not the best model for sitting down with. Again it depends on how you go about it I don't have a problem with either but I could see that working the way you do you might. There is also the Finn model which is not in the instrument spec page you will find it in the Gallery. At the end of the day I can certainly have a listen to what you have in mind and we can take it from there. Alan
  9. Very hard to come up with a new take on any kind of bass. I think that it is a reverse off-set means it will be compared with the Skelf as there are very few of them about at the moment I don't know of an other,I am sure there will be but I have not seen it. The top horn is along the same lines but this is because it works well with the off-set. There is still enough different for me not to be in the least bit bothered, If I thought it was a copy I would have been in touch with you about it.
  10. Passing resemblance is right not a copy so I don't see a problem. I spoke to Mike at the bassday and said it was in the same ballpark shape wise but I didn't say stop making it or anything like that so fire away guys. Alan
  11. Steady,I didn't say properly just the way I do it.
  12. No trouble. When you get round to finishing it if you have any questions drop me a mail and I can tell you how I go about it. Alan
  13. You would be better with a hard finish on the Redwood as it is usually pretty soft so would dent very easily. At least that is my experience with the Redwood I have. Alan
  14. I am surprised you had such problems finding a builder and equally so that you could not get a pickup or strings. I had no problems with getting the pickups made in this country and the strings were easy enough to get a hold off. Aesthetically the 9 string in this thread is not really my type of thing but the wood working skill in the making of it is fantastic and it would be churlish for anyone to say otherwise.
  15. They are all on my site it might not be restricted.
  16. I use the Hipshot Type A with the Ghost saddles and have been happy with it. I use it with a pre-amp. Alan
  17. I like them as well. Just done a fretless with a piezo bridge and a mag really nice range of sounds. Also have a Ghost pre-amp with various extra in the for sale section. Alan
  18. The wenge Recurve was up stairs in it's case so Eude did not see that one. Just like to thank Eude for a good day loads of chat and a second opinion on all the basses. Alan
  19. Aaron Armstrong will do that for you.
