Many thanks for taking the time to do that Peter. From the very start it has been difficult to explain how the pre-amp works in writing it makes it seem a lot more complicated than it actually is. Using it is easier than writing/talking about it. Just to add a few bits myself. The low pass filter now goes up to 6.3 Khz and the high pass filter now goes down lower into the frequency range of the lowpass filter so there is now a larger overlap between the two controls. Adjusting the area in the overlap with either control gives a different sound to the bass. Alan

I will ask Chris if he is up for that which I had planned on doing anyway. But not with me I struggle once you get past what is your name. Alan

I have not asked anyone to give a talk but the idea of the occasional break would be good I think for all concerned. There is also the set at the end of the day which I would like people to stay for not end up with 3 people more than is in the band which would be a real pity. Having been to few of these I thought the levels at Harrogate were pretty reasonable and never really noticed it becoming a problem maybe I am becoming immune. But as with all these type of things it needs people to be reasonable and someone determined to play at volume means everyone else starts to do the same which really does become a problem. The odd blast at an increased volume is to be expected in order for someone to get the feel of a piece of gear at gig levels but as long as it is not a protracted session it is no problem. If people just want a bash to try out gear let me know or would you prefer a day with some other distractions going on. Personally I was hoping to get an event started with possibly a talk on some bass related subject and I like the idea of a set from a band at the end of the day. But if people are not interested in this let me know now please. Alan

Very enjoyable day. Thanks to the guys for organising it all. If anyone is interested there will be another bassbash on the 19/4/09 up in Moffat. Some of the details are in this thread. Bash

It is excellent, but I may not be the best person to answer that being a shade biased on the subject. If you can find Poly Town and Liquid Glass they are also excellent. Poly Town can be hard work to start with but has my favourite guitaist in it David Torn. Bestial Cluster has some stunning bass work as does Tooth Mother but I find it quiet hard going to listen to the whole album. Each Eye A Path has the bass a little less obvious but is a really good album. More Better Different is along the same lines as EEAP and one of my favourite Karn albums. One of my favourite albums of all time is the Rain Tree Crow album which is all the members of Japan. The bass is subtle and beautifully done within the songs a really class album and well worth getting a hold of.

Good man.

Right guys a few things on the go at this bash if I can get enough people interested. I have been in touch with Chris at Overwater and he will be coming alone with a selection of lovely Overwater basses. Also for your entertainment Eude and his band Ten Storeys High will finish the day of with a set. Band website. I have a few other people that I am trying to line up. At the end of the day this will only be possible if there are enough people interested. Alan

I will have one bass for sale. alan

My thanks to Peter as well for his excellent job. He is the worlds foremost installation expert with regard to the EQ02 pre-amp having fitted more than anyone else on the planet. It has been a problem explaining the pre-amp to people it is very hard to describe on paper with out making it sound complicated when in the real world it is pretty simple to actually use. All the details can be found on the site, pricing in the shop. Alan

I have a few other things up my sleeve but will need some more people to sign up. If we get decent numbers I will pursue my plans. Cafe will sort out take away on the day. A few of you will know the cafe I am talking about. Alan
-
With a little co-ordination it should be possible to get some lifts organised for those that may need them. As we get closer to the event we can start sorting that out. I really don't want anyone excluded from this so I will do my best to make sure it gets sorted out. I will be of tomorrow to see if I can get the local cafe to offer a take away service to those who need some food during the course of the day and I should be able to sort out some tea/coffee and buns in the venue. I will visit the local bakers and see what can be done. Alan

Going to pick one of the above dates and try to go with it. Thinking of going for the 19th as the preferred date. Any thoughts Alan
-
Right. The may date is on the bank holiday so it might be an idea to avoid that. So the 19/4/09 and the 26/04/09 might be better.

Thread started on the subject. Bash thread

Both of those dates are available. The chair of the group that runs the venue will have a word with the rest of them to make sure there is no problem with the let so I will have their answer early next week. She does not think there will be a problem. Alan
-
Sunday would be fine as well. So possibly the 26/4/09 or the 3/05/09 how does that sound to those interested. I will check the dates with the venue. Alan

End of April sounds about right. Just need to get some people interested and it will be worth doing. alan

There are certainly busses to Glasgow and Edinburgh not sure of the times but I would think it is easy enough to find out. Nearest train station is Lockerbie 15 miles south of Moffat. Alan

Leading from some discussion on a build thread. I am happy to organise a Bash in Moffat. I have what I think should be a good venue in the form of the local theatre. This has a stage with amphitheatre type seating and an adjoining room again with seating. It is also a bit away from any housing and has parking on the site. Possibly be able to sort out tea and coffee on the day as well. So basically could I find out if anyone is up for this and when would be the best time to hold it. Open to suggestions for things of interest. I will be getting in touch with a few builders to see if they would be interested but this will depend on the numbers involved. Cheers Alan
