  1. For anyone interested in the current batch of Graft Series basses. There are still 2 five strings available with the introductory discount. The £100 discount ends on Saturday.

  2. Not sure how the Wal was set up to work with the 01 John did the work as he knows the guy. This was very early doors with the preamp. My proprietary setup with the DFM and Multicoils does indeed buffer and sum the individual sets of coils.
  3. Filters just made sense to me the first time I picked up a Wal. Wish I had bought it there and then but £800 seemed so much to the 15 year old me in Sound Control in Glasgow. Oh how prices have changed.
  4. Regarding the flexibility. It depends on which version you have. The original version had a very wide range on the filters. Later and current versions this was reduced which does make it easier to use. I do have a demo of a Wal with the 01 in it. https://m.soundcloud.com/acguitars Ralph Wal is the track. However I need to stress that copying the Wal was never really the intention. That could have been done but I was looking for my own thing and I think we achieved that. Also have to point out I have been ploughing this lonely track for nearly 20 years and while filter preamps are more popular now with a few more options it has been hard and expensive work flying the flag for them over the years. We have further refined it over the years and continue to do so but that is mainly focused on the DFM. But has not excluded the 01. Work on something with John East at the moment. At the end of the day copying Wal is not my goal. Yes it is a huge influence but I want an ACG identity don’t want to be the guy that does the Wal knock offs I will leave that to others.
  5. Hi The Eq01 is not the pre-amp I use in my top of the range Uber Series basses. I use the DFM in conjunction with my own Multi Coil pickups. This pre-amp has several features that the 01 does not have including the pic attack on a push/pull. While the EQ01 is an excellent pre-amp the DFM is what I call my 4th generation pre-amp have been in development for many years and started with 01. The 01 has seen several tweaks over the years as well and the later/current model is closer to the Wal than the original version.. The DFM/MC combination is however only available in my Uber Series basses.
  6. It is. I have been in touch with him about it.
  7. Hi Built as a prototype I think to try the Hipshot headless bridge but not 100% on that. So it does not appear on the website.
  8. Hi Have exhibited at this show for many years. The new venue is excellent and it is a really good show getting better every year. I will be there this year with only basses launching a new model and reintroducing the Graft Series.

    Peak Wal?

Hi I regularly see ACG basses sold that go for more than they cost when new. So not always the risk you think but I get the point you are making in that it is not a standard format.
  10. The bass bash stopped long before covid due to lack of interest. Best of luck if you decide to try and sort out another one. Apathy runs deep unfortunately.
  11. Been looking for an excuse to buy something from them for ages. The Euro rack interface is genius as is the ADAT expansion/ euro. Just can’t justify either but so wish I could.
  12. That is grim. You could post this up in the group below. https://m.facebook.com/groups/117104031648312/ And I would be happy to post it up on my own FB page if you want.
  13. My main preamp as in the one I use in my own basses the DFM. It has the pic attack feature activated by one of the two push/pull functions. There is a choice of two frequencies on each push/pull set internally along with the gain.
  14. The ACG/East ACG EQ01 pre-amp is now available direct from John East.

  15. I tend not to get to specific with that particular line of thought. There is a lot of variation in the wood within the same species. So the way I look it is as an overall structure which you can manipulate to a degree in order to get into a general ballpark. So I have an idea of what a combination of woods as a structure will produce but again it is a general idea.
  16. You know what one Wal sounds like in your hands. There is a lot of variation in instruments even if the appear to have the same spec.
  17. I came to the conclusion that the player is one of the most important aspects of how a bass sounds a long time ago. I play all my basses when I set them up and they to a degree sound like me playing a bass. I have had my own personal basses played by a fair number of people and they sound very different and mostly better played by other people. So trying to sound like another player is more than getting the same gear. The recording chain also plays a big part in that as well.
