1.
If you call up Mr. East you could try his outboard Jretro (possibly he has the ACG too) with your very own bass. He is based near Oxford just on the M40.
I think John still has both in a box so you can switch between them. There is a bit of a learning curve with the filter pre-amp if you are used to using a standard cut/boost type EQ. Should not take you to long to get used to it if you spend some time just using it. Cheers Alan
2. The set up I use in my own basses is as follow. Two mag pickups plus the piezo. The bridge pickup and the piezo are switchable so you can have the following combinations. Both mag pickups or the piezo and the neck pickup. This means that the bridge pickup or the piezo feeds one of the lowpass filters in the pre-amp giving you full EQ over which ever one you choose,it also means that the blend on the pre-amp will work as normal for the mag pickups or the piezo and mag. There is only one mini switch more with regard to controls. I use the Hipshot Type A bridge with the Graphtech saddles and have had no problems with them to date. The only thing I have to add to them is an attenuater because the output from them is really high so I need that to balance the volume between the piezo and the neck pickup. Alan
3. Just finished a 33" five string tuned E to C worked pretty well and have another on the books. I have a six spec'd up for some time in the future when the finances are sorted out. Alan
4. If you are still thinking on using the ACG pre-amp the relative outputs of the pickups can be changed with the internal trim pots on the pre-amp. This would allow you to balance the outputs of two different types of pickup. Alan
5. 2 sets of chrome 4 in line tuners for a right handed bass. 9 mm string post with a 14 mm mounting hole being required. New boxed and unused. £20 per set inc delivery. Alan
6.
Fantabulous!! Maybe Alan will get statred on mine now D.
Steady now lets not get carried away.
7. Very nice. What is the pre-amp in it Kev. Alan
8. Hi This unit is slightly different from the stacked knob version. It has pots wired to the board. So you have a separate volume with pull bright. Bass and Treble. It also has an on board mixer stage. Comes fully wired with battery clip and jack socket. You can get all the details from John's site at http://www.east-uk.com/ Included in the price are knobs in black chrome or gold and delivery within the UK. This unit is new and unused. I am looking for £95. Alan
9. Hi The neck is glued in along the whole length of the top horn. Pic to show what I mean.
10. I had a most enjoyable weekend although I bailed out on Saturday night at about 11 being a complete light weight. Very pleased with the venue and due to the slightly disappointing numbers allowed us to have a loud area in the theatre and a quiet area in the foyer it worked out really well. There was no problem to play whatever you wanted or hear yourself so an actual proper appraisal of the gear at whatever volume you wanted was possible. A great mix of guys I think we all got on really well and the last half hour was spent just chatting before we packed in. Great to meet up with the usual suspects and now picked a few more to add to the list so in all I had an excellent time. Thanks to Eude and his band for being willing to make the effort to come and play. We did however cancel but caught most of the guys before they set off so hopefully they were not to hacked of. I will be happy to sort out another of these whenever folks are interested. Alan
11. It will be good to see you Mark. A few more points. Please bring the odd extension cable for your amps etc. There will also be a take-a-way menu supplied by the local cafe. This will be available all day just phone in your order. Alan
12. Bump just to keep this is peoples line of sight.
13. Just to confirm. Kick off is at 11 and it will run to 6 which should be enough time for everyone to try out all they want. Link to map.
14. Certainly a car load coming up from Cumbria on the Saturday for a curry and a pint or two. Alan
15. Details. 11 to possibly 6 on the 19/04/09. There will be a small cover charge to raise some cash for the local school music department and for the theatre group who's hall we are using. This insures we get the hall at the charity rate and not the commercial rate. Unfortunately Chris May from Overwater can't make it but I will see if I can get anyone else from Overwater to maybe come up with a few basses. Alan
16. There are a few guys looking for lifts so I don't doubt that your offer will be taken up. Alan
17. Hi Sent you a mail answering your questions if you need anymore help let me know. The grey wire is to do with wiring up Audere pre-amps I think. Alan
18. Some pics of the venue. We have the stage area and the foyer. The stage area goes back about another 12' from the props so should be plenty of room for gear. We will also be able to set up in the foyer as well if needed. ACG will cover the cost of the rental of the venue. There will be a small charge to be decided in order to raise some cash for the theatre and the local school music department. Cheers Alan
19.
I'm interested in this and could probably interest my usual Bass Day companion. Could bring a collection of different basses and rigs.
More than welcome and bring anyone else you think might be interested. Alan
20. It will bo on the 19th of April that seems to be the date that suits the majority. If you know anyone else that might be interested please spread the word. Alan
21. Just to bring this back on to the front page. Alan
