1. Hohner make both a gig bag and hard case for it..... search some webbies in the US.... My B2A had a prtty good gig bag with it......
2. FYI (anally observant) its not a BA its a Schaller 3D And I say 'go for it!"
3. Just my personal view, but if your going to make a statement with the body colour, why oh why dont they match the headstock face with it? the colours dont do it for me. That natural could tempt me to buying my first Gibson...... Must resist, must resist.....
4. A good 'start point" is to fret the strings at your highest fret (22nd? cant remember how many the P deluxe has). Then set the pole tops 2mm from thier respective strings. The split P is easy, the J should 2mm from the E and G. Then move away (larger gap) 1 turn at a time from the strings, to balance.
5. Seeing as tis thread is just never going to go away I've pinned it as it seems remarkably popular...
6. x2..... Although frought with risk of being knicked for theft, what a wheeze that would be......
7. Plug the holes and put a Schaller 3D on it....... You'll wonder how you managed with anythng else!
8. It is still passive n'est pas? If so as Muppet above.....
9.
That'll be the extra string Fender have to worry about
Hummmn yep, guess that must be tricky.... do they still have tech drawings for 5 strings.....? Just finding out a few more details then my dollars going down on one (PS even though it says on the options list in the webby, they wont supply a black body with a black PG..... F***ing mupets, they wonder why folks are pi55ed with them.....) NO OFFENCE MEANT....... Muppet....
10.
Does anyone actually own or play one of the new models ??? it would be interesting to hear their opinion. I agree they're expensive but i still want a MIA P bass de luxe in black with gold s/plate gas gas gas !!!!! cheers Al.
I think I'm going to have a P 5, but I have just been told if I order it now, I may have it in April.... Now for a custom made I would be OK with that but for what should be 'off the shelf' thats a bit poo isn't it?
11. Just another quick "dont do it".... If you got teh bridge hot enough on the base to accept solder you would certainly discolor the other side, or burn off its finish and possibly alter its structure.... VERY BAD.
12. What is it you want to know? Its essentailly a 2 channel M-pulse 600. What more would you need to know? Played though a cab with Eminence speakers it'll be ****ing ace!
13. Off you go to tech speak land.....
14. I think you should get one for a review! Pics look good but then Photoshop can wonders....
15. Urrrm 'they sound out of phase'? Define please....
16. Well, Put it this way, you are buying 'off the shelf' with SD so if it works great, but maybe you'll have to try at least 2 sets 'til you get it right.. Spend some time on the fone or visiting Wizard and describing exactly what you want and you should get it 1st time...... So how much can you chuck at it, or do you like messing about with it?
17. AHHhhhhhhhh now I'm with you.... sorry I thought it was a split P. DEFINATLEY contact Wizard then..... thats quite specialist.... and SD would seem to be yrou only 'off the shelf option' Damn that limits you quite a bit....
18. You nice man.... I quite like Barts too.... http://www.bartolini.net/information/bass/new_bass_pu_s.htm Check out the prices on Thomann they seem to be the cheapest new at the mo... Bob
19. So... the winds are teh copper wire that form the the coil around the poles.... education time.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_coil Sounds like it may do you well to ring Wizard pick ups and tell them what you want, and get some made for the job ..... Frm your description it sounds like Bartolinis would do your job but they are wee bit expensive.... Wizards are sensible money and pretty much custom made... http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/index.asp Enjoy....
20. ^ and arms like Garth......
21. Linus, I'm not beign flippant when I say this, what do you mean by 'something better'? Do you mean louder? Stronger in specific areas ie low-mid-highs? Or richer in all three areas? Simply the 2+3 have more winds and subsequently more out put..... 2 has std size poles and more winds so sltighty hotter output, 3 (1/4lb) has larger poles and more winds= BIG output great for rock. 1 (vintage has) std size poles and standard wiring offering a new old stock kinda feel.. Does that help? There allsorts of pups available for Ps and SDs might be the best option. Let us know more and we'll flood you with our faves....
22. Nik, Its a piece of cake, PM me if you need help.
23. I undertsand, and hence the 1st word of my post was WAIT.
24. Roland cube 100... Versatile, reliable and easy to lug, with aux input and various modelling profiles. If you'd like a 30 rather than 100, I have one you can have cheap.
25.
Slight difference in price, too.
Point taken.... However, call me old fashioned but I believe a Signature model should be an instrument the endorsee would actually play... Pino would use one of his Sig basses because its basically a custom shop.... Stuff like the Frank Bello P, is what I'm on about, togetehr with Epiphones Slash Sig Les Paul (they do make a very expesnive Gibson Sig, well done Gibson) Fender will I'm sure have made Franks 'proper' bass in the Custom Shop whereas the Mex made cheapo that is in his name seems to me like a:- 'we're not sure how many of these we'll sell, so lets make it cheaply then we havent lost a great deal if it doesnt sell' Approach to marketing. Maybe I just need a rant today....
