1. Why thank you sir.... I'll bear that in mind!
2. Yep but it´ll cost ya.......
3. Hey wow, someone dug my baby out for another airing.... Well update time. If its possible it looks and sounds even better now as I have a Clover 3 string tree on the headstock so the break angle is the same for all 4 strings which are Rotosound 88´s so they are Black with gold binding.... Very Herbie and very cool..
4. Have you not got a serial number?
5. Interetsing topic, but better in tech bit I think!
6. Make and model of offending article please?, as most (decent ) tuners are stipable and tweakable so you may be able to stop this with as simple as a screwdriver.....
7. The Burpster

Must haves

Tuner is the only essential one.... So you can keep your eyes were they need to be(avoiding bottles thrown at you ! ) Actually anyone got or use a Peterson Strobe floor tuner? I'm GASing really bad for one.... All other effects are needed for certain tracks or to make up for stuff you cant do, with either bass or amp....
8. NGH, not only did I think that but my partner kinda said "isnt that enough?" when I took delivey of my 2nd PRS..... Now those , plus 2 Fenders and an Ibanez later I am begining to think the same as you..... Trouble is I love 'em all! I may have to get rid of one or 2 to get a really good 5 string tho'
9. ^^^ Thats so true, IMHO shops are just as sh1te "darn sarf" as they are "oop 'ere in't norf"...... or potentially as good..... I wonder if hormones are invloved in shop moods?
10. Nope, its a good price.....but RED? Also this same one was for sale about 6 months ago so I'm guessing there someting wrong wth it! Not for me or I'd have already bidded. The new bolt on 5 string is a FAR superior instrument, but then so is the price! (sighs, maybe one day!)
11. You could get a small aerosol of pot cleaner from your local Maplins. This is always useful for all electrical stuff and may well relieve that dodgy detent. If not you now know you need a new one!
12. ^ The neck. Take of the tuners 1 by 1, clean them and the wood underneath. Polish the neck(back) and clean the fretboard. Slacken off the truss rod as above and put the neck into the Hard shell case under your bed so it doesnt get too cold or damp. Then wait for that pretty body to return.
13. ^^^^ +1...... Why do they do that?
14. IIWY I'd just let him get on with it.... unless he does someting outrageously sutpid, he wont do it much damage. He may get bored of it and sell it to you for next to nowt... You can get it re finned.... ........ However a certain Mr Clapton got two freaky Dutch acid heads to paint a nice Gibson LP, so it looked like a year 4 painting class had had it for a day.... That LP is now worth a small house in the country, and has it own signature model copying it to every detail..... Strange world we live in....!
15. I've only had one good experience in Sound Control and that was because I'd talked to the guy on the fone before I went there, with a "match this internet price and I'll but one from you" line, it worked, they were interested in what I used and what I was doing. NOT SO Most other shops including Denmark Street (ole Lunnon tarn)...... usually met with the vacant "man, your disturbing my spliff break" look and attitude to match.... HOWEVER...... Been to a shop in Lincoln I drive past regularly, F**king ugly big pink shop with a 10' Fender model in the window.... Well what a shock, I walked in on spec wantin' a set of straplocks, 2 of the staff were jammin on guitars and a customer (pretty young lady) was accompanying them on drums..... well impressed.... when they finished and I clapped.... I was greeted with with a smile, they couldnt do enough for me.... Loved talking about basss, and what I did..... Another staffie was in a back room selling an accoustic to student and *get this* he had 5 guitars in rack in front of the customer and was getting him to try them all!!! They were interesting and intersted..... I shall be goin' back there when I need Fender stuff as they have lots of it.... (Bass strings were a bit limited but had inexcess of 20 basses and 5 2nd hand ones too!) So on the whole I agree, but every now and then.......
16. Awwwwwh man, leave her alone, she's done nothing to hurt you..... If you're gonna have it re-fined have it done properly (Sims, or similar company) If you mess that beautiful top up, you and I will never forgive you! If you need her to be different ,string with something you dont usually use, Flatties, nylon flats etc..... She's earnt the right to look different, it'd be a sad world if we all liked blondes.... n'est pas?
17. Having a nice bass but average electrics is like having a Porsche and putting Kwik Fit economy tyres on it.... Wonderful but limited by its most important factors.... If you have the best that you can get or want and youre happy with it..... Stick with it..... I like playing with basses, but having the Mesa negates having to play with amps.....
18. FWIW I (having marked it first so I knwo where ot was tightend to) slacken off the truss rod once its off and de- strung. This is to prevent it putting re curve (negative relief) in the neck whilst its off. It may be some time before you get the body back. Big +1 for good tools. Other tips. 1. take pics before you do anyting if you are unsure about locations etc. (if you dont take 'em to bits regularly) 2. TAKE YOUR TIME. Try and rush and you'll damage something. 3. Make sure you have a safe and comfy area free from distractions when you take her to bits, dropping the neck is not something that will fill you with glee!
19. I have a cube 30 sat here, going for a sensible offer..... If you have an active bass you can just get away with it in a small venue, but if your drummer has attitude & you are using a passive, I would recommed the cube 100 as you will probably get drowned out. That being said, if the drummer is not on a mission, I have practised in a village hall with it, and it was ok. There is a 1/4" line out jack, its not DI but you can still put it thru another set up....
20.
Wow - I am eligible for this.. and PMT isn't far away.. must... resist...
I KNOW exactly what you mean... Although I'm not sure I will be able to.....
up too 2000, i guess for more expensive stuff like violins and so on you could loan 2000. I guess for something as reliviely cheap as a bass you wouldnt be able to loan as much.
WHAT? are you being serious? I could easily spend 2k on bass stuff in one outing.... besides it includes amps, effects... infact pretty much all we use except PA equipment....
21. Just found out yesterday that Vintage make a 7/8ths size bass as well which is not expensive and is a pretty good instrument.... It is in the latest JHS news letter promo thingy that came with G&B mag.
22. Noted, but IMO this is a great way to get folks (especially youngsters, and those of low incomes) playing. And lets use it, so that its not another idea that was washed over.
23. I thought this was too good to be true, but aparently it is true.... http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/takeitaway/index.php Intrest free loans up to £2000 for musical stuff...... Just in time for christmas too. Those thinking of getting a youngster an instrument.... get them a good one and use this scheme while they have it on..... I beleive I will be getting my Mesa 2x10 from PMT in the new year now..... If someone that knows them would like to ask the Gallery if they want to sign up (they can do if they wish) I'm sure bewteen up we could shift some of their stock!
24. MY GOD...... I've just soiled my undergarments....! What is the string spacing at the nut please? Suddenly 1300squid on a new Clover seems dear....!
