Wanting to add a tube preamp sound to my rig...
The Burpster replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Effects
You may want to consider one of these as they are pretty darn good.....! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MESA-BOOGIE-V-1-BOTT...1QQcmdZViewItem -
Although many will advocate boiling strings, personally I think its a bad idea. If they are that bad, ditch them. Alcohol is much better solution for cleaning, so I would go down that route. Can I ask, do you clean them every time you use them? If not you might want to start doing that. Your fingers produce lots of substances that can dmage metal with continual contact and therfore cleaning them after every use maybe a better regime for future... I use a Fast Fret cleaner every time I use one of mine, if that helps. No crud and long lasting strings.

Help needed in choosing combo (GOT ONE NOW THANKS GUYS)

Of those you've listed the 2 I'd go for are 1 The Roland Cube. 2 Hartke Kickback. Both very good. Go to a dealer that has the 0% finance offered by the Arts Council [topic="0"]Arts Council Promo[/topic], spend a little extra and get something that you can use! -

Buying string action gauges and straightedge in the UK?
The Burpster replied to tremblap's topic in Repairs and Technical
Ive bought bits from US dealers and had EXCLLENT service on the whole, in fact some bits come quicker than from UK Allparts! Try to keep the value down and it´ll come strght thru´,the best I´ve had is 4 days (fret file)! You dont need a full length straight edge, and in some ways it makes it harder. 12-24" is fine and for levelling I use a proper 8" straight edge, just doing 3-4 frets at a time. -

Thanks guys. It holds a special place for me as well as the history my best mate and guitarist has with his 6 string version (that I renovated as I have my bass), in fact it´s because I did that guitar and was soo impressed by its quality that I got this bass. All I can say to you previous owners is that you must be sick as parrots having got rid of them, as not only is this a good bass compared t what was around at the time.... it is a good bass compared to whats around NOW! I love it!

Anyone else notice a scary similarity between the new 20th Anni model and the trusty Warwick shape?

Before you go diving in doing anything, check this item out on ebay 170177915599 Believe me, you will never, ever, ever, ever, want anything else (everything you do get will be compared to it!), and sonically ...... PERFECT...... everything cranked up full with the 18V electronics- nothing, nada, zip! No humm no annoying anything, just awesome tone and gut rumbling power.... And if you dont like it, I´ll buy it off you for what you paid.. Can you say better than that?
I will be looking to get a combo soon, something more portable (or a roadie).
Although it was not cheap, my Mesa walkabout scout112 takes some beating for tone v. portabilty. Its more than capable of doing small gigs, and I´m now shopping for a Mesa 2x10 (and 1x15) to use as bigger venue extensions with the head out of the combo.... You really can have your cake and eat it, although it is an expensive cake!
