1.
(Said to you during break before your second set). "We will say goodbye now in case we don't get chance at the end" = "We are going 5 seconds after you start your second set"
I have to do this a lot (although I generally stay for at least 2 songs). Completely down to the fact that I need to get public transport everywhere though.
 2.
Sounds great, is that the ACG? it's a lovely clear tone.
Yeah it is. Thing I like about the pre-amp is you can go from that to thumpy Motown-esque sound with one quick turn of a dial!
 3.
2 entries is cheating? Oops!
I meant two bass tracks on the one entry
 4. Here's my entry. Didn't do what I originally had planned as I reckon two tracks would be cheating so I've done this with just the one track. Also I hope folk don't mind but it says 1:02 but there's a bit of silence either side...I forgot to edit it out and I've now just realised I forgot to save... https://soundcloud.com/cameron-jamieson-4/basschat-noodle-1
 5. I try and take both of my basses out equally but about 80% of the time I take my ACG and leave the other bass in the house. Both of them work excellently for the music I play so I can get away with either. I actually generally take the other bass if I'm being a bit lazy as the filter preamp in the ACG can take some thinking at times.
 6.
Hmmm, always wondered about the Dirty Blonde's sound. Was the bridge pickup any use, or was it a little too close to the bridge to be used on its own? Funny, you don't see many of the higher profile Warwick players with that particular bass, the only one I saw was Weezer's bassist, and given thae most of the time he plays a P Bass, it makes perfect sense now! Eude
My experience with it was that I couldn't use the bridge pickup alone, even with the (very powerful) preamp set so that it shouldn't be a thin sound. Which was a real pain for me as I generally prefer the sound of a bridge pickup. The twin Jazz pickup was just way too close to solo. Just remembered I made this when I was trying to sell mine. It's literally just me pissing around playing whatever came to my head so don't expect an actual decent demo. All plugged straight into audacity. Ignore my shoddy playing too! 7. Oh yeah...my stupidity there. I've certainly heard of quite a few people doing that so I guess it is 'legitimate'. Anything that gets the noise you want from the bass to the amp is legitimate I would say.
 8. There are so many inappropriate puns going through my head right now... What do you mean by double fingering? I would google it but I know what the results would be...
 9. Strings would probably be my choice too. Even though you have just restrung, you'll end up restringing again at some point.
 10.
switched to a Metro 24.
The neatness of that is admirable!

 12. Kev just nailed it actually. Perfect description of that bass.
 13.
Did you have a Dirty Blonde then? Always wondered what they sounded like, fairly 'normal' then? Eude
It sounded like a really bright P bass from what I remember. It had probably the most sustain I've ever heard from a bass though and super clear tone.
 14. Back when I had a compressor I always kept the octave pedal after the comp.
 15.
Tonewood makes a helluva difference, not matter what anyone says. If that thumb weighed 8lb, was made of ash and had a maple neck, totally different sounding bass. However, at 11lb plus, Bubinga and wenge, it sound like that. Blooming beautiful.
It does. I say that as someone who has owned an 8lb thumb bass with an Ash body and Maple neck. It did have different pickup configuration which of course changes the tone considerably but even unplugged. The bubinga thumb bass sounded like a thumb bass. The other one just didn't. Great bass right enough...just not for me.
 16. I wasn't aware it was a thing but from watching a few interviews with him I want to read it. I imagine it will be very good.
 17.
My Thumb GAS will never go away, but man alive I don't miss the awful balance and reach to 1st position. They're gorgeous basses and incredible sounding instruments, but they don't fit short arses like myself so well... Eude
I just found them a little heavy. I didn't have that much in the way of neck dive...but I do miss that bass.
 18. I wouldn't say it's inappropriate provided the person who originally sold it asked the permission of the buyer if it's okay to give you their details. I personally wouldn't feel offended even if they hadn't asked me. To be totally honest, I probably wouldn't even give it a second thought if I were in the position of either seller or the buyer here.
 19. I had a good chat with everybody in Gojira when I was waiting outside for their show in Glasgow a few years back. I've spoke to so many people in large-ish metal bands and can't say I've met anybody who didn't seem like a real nice genuine guy/gal.
 20. This thread makes me realise I have no decent pics of me at a gig. Must remedy that.
 21.
Elixirs are less zingy than just about any string I've ever used. They're great strings if you like the sound of knackered old roundwounds as they sound like that straight out of the packet.
I find them not as zingy as brand new uncoated strings but they do sound fresh for a lot longer than any other ones I've used. I feel with all other strings I've used I want to replace them within 2 weeks (or instantly in the case of Rotosounds) but Elixirs last me a good 8/9 months or so
