1. I thought down strokes only was a hardcore punk band thing. Severins upstrokes only was initially (no disrespect intended) due to self taught lack of competence IMO, just like myself & how I learnt. I like unorthodox players more than virtuosos but any "only" is limiting the possibilities available.
 2.
Fireball is my favourite album of theirs though it rarely gets mentioned for some strange reason, it's always "In Rock" & "Machinehead" that get all the glory.
Fireball is a good call, one of my fave purple albums too.
 3.
My Dad's on that album...
Snakey Coverdale probably fathered a few.....or can you see him in the cover pic? ;-)
 4. I always preferred "made in europe" mainly due to Glenn Hughes. Ducks & runs for cover! Co-incidentally GH playing a riccybakky on the cover pic!
 5. Lovely.Just lovely. price unfortunately has an extra nought over & above my current new bass savings fund total! GLWTS.
 6. Liking that! Thats very funky, just how I like it. Will be getting some of their stuff very soon.
 7. I've had one for a good while & have never fully got to grips with it but use it for basic quick demo' ing ideas, then refining those "live" single track takes into 3 or 4 track demos to present to the band. Guitar on track1, perc trk2, bass trk3 & vox trk4 is the most i've done. Its not the most intuitive to use but once you get used to the way it works its ok. Effects are very usable especially for guitar. I never got around to getting an external mic for vocals, which would make things easier. Exports in various formats onto sd card easy. Bang for buck pretty good for quick demo ideas IMO. We also use a fostex (?) similar little box to the micro-br80 that belongs to the drummie for recording at rehearsals, although last weeks results from his new gopro camera were amazing quality, sound & picture!
 8.
I probably know a lot more than i actually realise, just no confidence on giving advice. I know i will never make the mistake of taking a music stand to a gig, and playing a Rickenbacker. When i am famous, i know the rider will contain a selection of cheeses, Kettle Chips, and Abbey Crunch. I guess there isn`t a lot more i need to know.
:-)
 9.
Agreed, rarely step in there...
+1 Me neither, had a quick look couple of times, couldn't be arsed with all that.
 10.
Especially as the copy thread is better than the original.
made me proper laugh! Out loud! Brilliant.
 11.
mum and dad said no to a drum kit. That was 18 years ago, and the rest is history 😂
+1 38 years ago for me though. No regrets though, like playing drums & guitar but love playing bass!
 12.
But my Dad got to say "Poor f**ker really was being tortured if he had to listen to you lot"
:-) Dad's eh? Bless 'em.
 13. My white stingray is older by 8 years & hasnt yellowed, vanilla'd or ivoried like this one. Gone a bit round the edges but i wouldnt mind if it had! Nice bass, very good price! GLWTS.
 14. Just bought a bundle of leads & plugs from Harry, a seamless & easy transaction, with perfect comms. Cheers to a top basschatter & a gent! Norm.
 15.
Or at least a cycle helmet.
:-)
 16.
I like this!! In a strange and pervy way, though... my favourite colour combo and the first Warwick I've ever seen with a pickguard...
2nd warwick i like the look of, ever! 1st was a spangley fortress flashback. I feel a bit odd, going for a lie down & listen to some U2 ;-). I like Mr Clayton, nothing fancy, certainly no virtuoso but does a job for the band. None of U2 could really play when they got success. Seems pretty grounded when interviewed not up himself. Not going to buy his sig bass but not going to slag him either. Good luck to him, I'd have taken Naomi Campbell out on the town if she'd of asked me too! ;-)
 17.
Slightly off topic but I went to watch some local wrestling not too long ago there with some mates who are all in bands and we said it would make an awesome venue. Glad they do gigs there
Nice venue. We've supported a few over the years there, wishbone ash, focus, carl palmer etc & now Big Country. We are lining up another support there for september time.
 18. Great gig supporting Big Country @ the cheese & grain, Frome, Somerset. 350+ crowd, played a blinder went down well & got to meet the mighty Derek Forbes resplendant in kilt & spats!
 19. How i wish i had a stray £1950 lying around the place! I've got £255 in my bass saving pot. Bit short damn it. GLWTS
 20.
From my gig Saturday just gone. Not particularly flattering it has to be said!
great mic stand, thats the mutts!
 21. Gone quiet bump!
 22. Finally got round to putting the fruits of our last recording sesh onto soundcloud & finally got round to putting them up here too! https://www.soundcloud.com/kohiba
 23.
Congrats to you and to Wooks79, brilliant!
+1 Now thats a gig to be looking fwd too! Have fun!
 24. Hopefully the post above doesn't come over all preachy? Wasn't meant too :-) Nowadays with all the tools at our disposal, cheap decent gear & easy recording, social media & seemingly endless people being musos etc it should be easy to get a band together but somehow its still really difficult & requires real persistance. when it clicks with some like minded people though, its all worth it, its ace fun!
