1. Finding the "right" people to play with/form a band can be really difficult. Loads of false starts & bands that died before 1st gig & some that died before 1st rehearsal! Thats my experience. So much so that i gave up playing for 10 or so years. Now playing at almost 52 years old in an originals trio doing rock stuff but with lots of fringe influences, post punk, funk, northern soul, 70's heavy riffage & our latest song which came out of a jam has a drum & bass dance feel!?!? It doesn't matter what decade anything is from, follow your vision & get it out there, you will by open miking, jam night, local gig networking, make your own luck & eventually find like minded people. I wish you well, keep at it!
 2. Cheebus, I'm in awe! Excellent work everybody, that was an interesting listen! Enjoyed them all & each had something but rules is rules, so I've got my 3. Tough choice though!
 3.
"Hawkwind!" A great bass heckle on a gig a few months back accompanied by a knowing look. I have no idea why he shouted this at me, but I got the impression it was a good thing.
acid flashback probably ;-)
 4.
Hiya norm, So ya found it this time
been being more vigilant with the event threads! Didnt want to miss out again. Hopefully see you soon?
 5. I'm central somerset but work in Yeovil at the moment. Would be happy to bring some kit Chard way one evening. Got trace v4 head, barefaced vintage & an EBMM Stingray. Let me know prospective dates & i'll see what i can do?
 6.
Interesting that he went back to a Hiwatt 50 for some tracks on the album'Written in Red', and he also used a Hiwatt 200 in the late 1970s. I used a Hiwatt 100 and 2 Hiwatt 4X10s stack (see my avatar) to get that Stranglers sound, and it worked a treat.
I bet it did work a treat! Nice stack & a cool bass, good work, fella!
 7.
Congrats , that looks like a labour of love , nice one Now all you need to do is puncture your drivers
and get a Hiwatt 50w guitar amp. :-)
 8.
'You aren't tall enough to play bass.'
Brilliant!
 9.
In my first band somebody shouted at us "play something catchy" "Ok, this one's called syphillus...."
I'm nicking that one! Stored ready for use ;-)
 10.
By the way, my dad always called me Blue as a nickname from the age of about 2. I think he got it from a film. The Champ maybe?
was your dad a fan of tv series The High Chapparal? Blue was the ranch bosses son's name. late 60's early 70's. That dates me too! ;-) Well done on the audition. You auditioned them too & it wasn't quite right for you. Decision made best for both no need for any guilt.
 11. Had the 4 week thing from a few pubs down south west but that was a few years ago. Bristol venues like Fleece & Louisiana have a 2 week clause in their contracts, i i r c? As long as they are shifting good vol of beer most LL's couldn't give a flying fork what bands name is or what youre playing or even if youre any good. Its just about coin!
 12. Volume knob on my EBMM Stingray only has any effect in the last 20% of its travel. Next to useless, its more of a mute than a control! Which is why its full on up when i'm playing & wound back when i'm not. Got used to doing it & now use it as more of a mental switch, part of my concentration routine.
 13.
Halfway through, eh..? I'm improving..!
All the way through for me Dad but admittedly I didn't have any homework to do! ;-) Liked it, different, interesting, profound even. I'm looking forward to next months offerings already, excellent work all of ya!
 14. Cor, just listened to them all. Great work fellas! Swayed by the vocals on lurks & skols, adds an extra dimension & difficulty of lyrics but then moved by bilbos compositional skills too. My decision goes to old ben though, i cant resist a good bit of riffage!
 15. Back up to date! Ta for the likes on my band "Kohiba" fb page, people!
 16. Up to date again. A few wouldnt open on my phone so will try later on pc. Keep 'em rolling in!
