1.
Oh my! Wow - this is yours?? Niiiiiicccce!!
+1 very tasteful resto. Thats a beaut of a bass!
2. Sometimes catch the fretboard edge or a fret end but more of a problem when playing guitar. Got caught under skinny top e string during a chord change, broke the string & cracked the nut in half, loose bit pinged off across the room. My wedding band has quite a bit of mojo/relic'ing due to this & more so to wearing a chunky steel ring on opposite hand. Should take one off when washing hands but forget/ cant be arsed!
3.
we thank our lucky stars that there are people interested. Blue
+1 to that! We discount tickets to any "bigger" gigs that we get & give cds away, chat happily to anybody who are interested. I'm always last to pack up my gear due to post gig adrenaline wobbly gob to anyone within range!
4. I'd be up for it too. Exeter would be better than plymouth for me. Somehow managed to miss the last somerset/dorset bash, even though it was on my doorstep! Wouldn't mind driving if anybody central somerset wants to car share?
5. Saw them first also at the Colston Hall Bristol may1979, hemispheres tour with Max Webster as support. Great gig. Saw them again Hammy odeon, moving pictures tour. Always liked them especially Geddys playing but left them behind after that & havent heard any of their more recent stuff. Got a bit of a listening pilgrimage to do thanks to this thread! Check out Max Webster too, if you've never heard of them before. Albums "a million vacations" & "universal juvenilies" worth a listen. The track "battle scar" is Max W & Rush playing together, titanic!
6. That was great! Looking fwd to next instalment.
7. Like his voice. Good luck to him, hope he gets through!
8. All the buzz, clanks, squeaks, squronks & fharts are what makes it rock & roll! I dont want to sound pristine & clean. I'm in a rock band not a solo player!
9. That day was pretty cool at the time but sounds really cool in the re-telling now. Strange but I hadn't thought about it for a long time until my mate posted a message on the anniversary day & also I saw this thread. Thanks to the op & glad to share my Lynott tale. Just wish I'd met the man himself!
10. Cool but cant get the vid to play. Will try later at home.
11. Was a big Lizzy fan back in the day. Went to the 10th anniversary Vibe for Philo in Dublin (the Point i think?) with my mate who is still a huge Lizzy fan. We visited his grave, left the inevitable black rose (well as dark red as we could get!) & then went out to his old house where his mum now lives. My mate wanted to go & pay his respects but I didn't want to intrude, so I stayed in the car. Lynotts mum Philomena came out to the car (in the rain) to get me in for a cup of tea as she was pleased to see & chat to anybody who made the effort to come out there! She made us & a japanese couple who where there very welcome, gave us a tour of the tribute/shrine room dedicated to Phil. Saw his precision & ibanez at very close quarters & loads of memorabilia. Philomena gave us all a big hug farewell & we all had a few tears. A lovely person of great warmth & dignity on what must have been a difficult day. Then onto the gig in the evening after a good few porters to see Limehouse Lizzy, Eric Bell Band & a reformed version of Thin Lizzy with Gorham, Downey, Wharton, Mendoza & Sykes. A glass was raised this year whilst listening to my faves Johnny the fox & emerald! He was a big influence on me as a singing bass player. RIP Philo.
12. Bump for my old bass! Well made, good p+j sd pickups, nice slim j profile neck, glwts. Norm.
13.
I'm afraid not-all full
I'll try to be there. We've played there a couple of times & had good nights both times.
14.
And I suppose not all bands are to everyone's taste - I liked all those in the list regardless of musical content, but maybe that's not the idea?
i liked everybody cos i thought that was the idea! & I'm following the bands i really enjoyed the content. Its all good to support like minded people & keep us all encouraged. Thanks to pinball for starting it off.
15.
It's already happening, Since reading our FB page Black Dog Company have joined The Angry Badgers are on the same bill at the Louisiana on the 1st of February
excellent work fellas! Any slots left that night? :-)
16. Like redstriper, 56 likes out, 23 likes back in. To those who listened & still liked, many thanks its much appreciated. Band mates were as chuffed as me! I've listened to all where possible (some i couldnt find any tracks) especially the bands doing (like us) originals & found some great stuff, genuinely liking the tracks. Next thing is try to do some gigs together with bands from similar necks of the woods? cheers, Norm

19. Nice One Pinball! I'm a bit late to the party (as usual) so here's my lot. Kohiba - Glastonbury/Bristol based Power trio with heavy grooves, chunks of funk & a dash of riffage! Tracks & vids under the band page button (takes you to reverbnation) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kohiba/322912011062355 Now onward to the like button to do the honours in return! Cheers, Norm.
