I sold a bass with an intermittent jack socket a couple of years ago. I couldn't be bothered to fix it so I told the guy if he wanted to do it himself I'd decrease the price (I forgot how much, it was somewhere around £30 I think). He bought it at the lower price, and came to collect it that week. I never got a message or a phonecall from him so I assume he was happy

The only bit of string making wizardry that I subscribe to is the hexagonal core thing, simply because it makes a very obvious difference to me. I like the strings to be nice and tight, without having massive gauges which lead to crazy lows. My .152 low A isn't tapered and i've never been bothered by it, just required a bit of bending at the saddle end

I think taking offence is a bit much. Even if somebody offered me 10p for an amp I wouldn't get upset. Everyone's out to get a good deal at the end of the day! (I probably wouldn't sell it for 10p just in case anyones wondering )

Usually with endorsements, wherever you go, the company will provide amps and cabs for you instead of you taking your own. So I imagine they just couldn't source any.

Markbass F1 on top of an Ampeg stack is about as silly as you're gonna get looks wise. Didn't bother me having it behind me! Sounded immense too Added a bit more attack to the standard SVT hugeness

I don't think it's out yet, but the Zoom MS50B looks great and you can have 6 effects at once!

I started off on guitar, but I had no idea what a bass was back then. When I found out, and that my uncle was a bassist, as well as my dad, I yearned for one! Eventually my best mate approached me and told me to just get on with it, and play bass in his band. That was nine years ago!

Usually when a bass is advertised as having a 'fast neck' it means that it's slim, and/or has tighter string spacing. But I agree, it's a silly thing to say because people prefer different things... I mean Billy Sheehan loves those ridiculously massive 70's P bass necks! To be fair that ad makes it look like it could be really useful! Not many players talk about changing your tone using different types of attack with fingerstyle playing. People are always asking me how I get my sound, and i find it so hard to explain, but he's nailed it by saying he 'plays through the string' haha

Best 'real world' stores I've been to are Academy Of Sound in Stoke on Trent, and Phoenix Soundworks which is somewhere in Northamptonshire. They both have friendly, knowledgeable staff who made me feel comfortable and not pressured into a sale. As far as online stores, I've used Absolute Music, GAK, Gear4music, and effectpowersupplies.com and they were all great. I had a problem with an amp from GAK a few months after buying it, so they collected it, got it repaired, and sent it back within a week! effectpowersupplies were incredibly helpful when I tried to buy an out of stock item. Haven't dealt with customer services on the others. Digital Village (DV247.com) on the other hand, I would avoid like the plague. I made a large order with them a couple of years ago, and spent the next few months being messed around with items not being in stock, then being in stock, then not again. They wouldn't even split my order into things that were or weren't available and kept lying about when they were due to receive them. I cancelled the order in the end and got a refund, which in all fairness I didn't have to wait long for.
