PMT Northampton are definitely the worst. They try to sell you damaged gear that you don't even like in the first place, while telling you that your favoured brands are crap and their staff are quite happy to make up cock and bull stories to try and look cool

Called up Anderton's today because my Stageclix Jack delivery date kept being changed, and it was supposed to arrive at the store today. I had it on back order which I was fully aware of before paying for it btw it seems like it was all due to their supplier messing them around (I came to this conclusion, I wasn't given this as a half arsed excuse!). Anyways Jon investigated and it had actually arrived today! And since I had ordered it just over a month ago, I was assured that my order would be upgraded to next day delivery.. Result! Definitely pleased with the service, however I would advise against ordering any out of stock items if you're in a hurry

FWIW the Markbass Classic cabs look f***ing cool. Not ported though, and i haven't tried one before

As far as wattage goes... My markbass rig consists of a 500w head with one 8 ohm front ported 4x10. I have never had to turn the volume up to halfway on a gig before

Great review! I'm surprised to hear you didn't get an email response from Markbass though, their always been great to me even when I feel like I'm pestering them! When did you send it?

Yeah the video basically summed up everything it's taken me 9 years to learn And I'm not too heavily into the solo bass world, but I do like to learn tips and tricks from the guys who are and then use them myself badly

If cabinets are provided at a venue and you have a seperate head and cab, it makes your carrying job even easier

If you're moving around a lot maybe a good sounding budget combo would be a better choice

Maybe Bass players are more obsessed with music/bass/gear than, say, guitarists, who are more interested in impressing non-musos with their newest pointy thing

Why not combine the best of both worlds and have a niche metal drumming forum called BassDrumChat? EDIT: Or even DoubleBassDrumChat?
