Well Svetlana is obviously quite attractive, so it's only right that you should do her a favour for nothing, isn't it?
http://www.eatliver.com/russian-dating/

Thanks for the interest. I'd love to help out with this but I'm based in Essex so a bit of a long way home for me I'm afraid. Unless air transport and a hotel is on offer of course. Cheers Mike

One of our finest singers; a sad loss. This is a really good compilation for anyone who has only ever played addicted to love in covers bands ad nauseam like me and would like to hear more: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Masters-Collection-Robert-Palmer/dp/B001KJITZI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1398270788&sr=8-5&keywords=Robert+palmer+master

I think that cabinet makers use something called a tack cloth for this
I always assume the sort of musicians who post on Basschat would love Zappa, and his amazing bassists and drummers. I wonder if this thread will be popular.
It is with me
'Wild things run fast' is one of the albums in my collection that I never tire of. The opening track 'Chinese cafe/unchained melody' is amazing and the Carole that she names in the first verse is, in fact, her friend Carole Bayer Sager. Just listen to Larry Klein's bass playing: http://youtu.be/7G333adJxbM
Superb isnt it?

I guess the trends come and go as with all fashion and design but I would wager that the majority of recorded popular music since the 1950's will have and continue to feature a Precision, Jazz or maybe a Stingray providing the bass line

Proggers and-wealthier punks in the 70s had Rics Lots of through neck arias and bare wood finishes in the 80s or silly looking no headstock things All the younger bands on telly since the 90's seem to have old p and jazz basses Soul, jazz and what is now called R'n'B seem to use 5 strings on expensive looking(see 80s) wood. As tubeway army may have said: Are trends eclectic?

Am I Mad? Wanting to sell a 55-01 and buy a CV P-bass? :S
lonestar replied to bigevilman's topic in Bass Guitars
Sounds eminently sensible to me although Im not sure that id bother with a jazz pup at the bridge. I have a bitsa sx p bass with a wizard thumper pickup, sadly no longer available, but it does what it says on the box brilliantly. Why not just go for a posh p bass pickup and hardware, I have gotoh 70s tuners on mine -
Donny Hathaway with Willie Weeks. excuse my sister.

Welcome Anita Lots of Essex basschatters on here and we're mostly friendly and helpful. There is lots of useful links and stuff in theory and technique. If in doubt just ask and someone will know! Great looking bass you have there.

Playing with a Pick - looking for advice
lonestar replied to Count Bassy's topic in General Discussion
I generaly use fingers but the Best picks that i found i picked up at a show and haven't found since. They were the standard 1 mm tortex blue but with a star shaped hole in the middle which made them really grippy. -
Highly recommend stuart clayton's excellent book funk and soul grooves for bass guitar . All the 'nard bass and Nile's guitar parts are in there.
Oh, btw, lonestar, your advice re: turning the Markbass volume control in an anti-clockwise direction has merely exacerbated my symptoms, and has caused Mrs S no end of concern, lol.
You'll have to go and try one. My sincerest apologies to Mrs S.
Thanks for the info and advice, guys, one and all! Yeah, I was looking at the Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin Players School Combo (albeit that the budget would need to expand beyond that for an Ampeg BA 112) but given that it would be used for for what is essentially home/practice use I wondered if it would be somewhat excessive. I hate the thought of a really decent amp being used for only a fraction of its' capabilities although, having said that, it is marketed as being for "student practice"...GAS, what GAS?
Either of these amps would be good. Im a markbass user and have used an Ampegs BA15 extensively at rehearsals. Either would give you lots of volume, especially the Markbass should you ever decide to play with others and you can always turn down at home! Ultimately it's all the fingers though I'm sure that a Ray '34 and flats would get you on the right path, especially a natural/maple one which Im gassing for at the moment with similar motives to you.

Markbass - all made in Indonesia now and heavy?
lonestar replied to phatbass787's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had the pleasure of meeting Marco and his colleagues at a trade show, not long after getting my CMD102 combo a few years ago. I was whisked off the stand to see their new amps and was impressed with their enthusiasm for the products and integrity, as is becoming increasingly apparent on this thread. -
