1.
That's right. I do so hope that when he/she grows up, they launch an eponymous range of Hitchcock-inspired perfume: North, by North West.
Excellent
 2.
Whilst camping with four mates in 1974, I pulled a girl one evening, went back to her place and returned to the tent three days later having spent a wonderful time with a beautiful young lady. The only thing that spoilt it was, she had just bought Tubular Bells and insisted on playing it for the whole three days!
The "piltdown man" chorus bit on side 2 would make an interestisting soundtrack for getting it on !
 3. It wasn't me honest. I never had any headphones.
 4. All of the last three posts have worked for me too. Especially the amp up and lighten fingers one.
 5.
Does the teenage fumbling have to have been with another person to qualify for this thread?
I was discussing most embarassing moments with a mate of mine a few years ago. His was when living at home as a teenager retiring to his room for a spot of er? "Me time" with his righ hand accompanied by Pink Floyd's Wish You Were in the headphones. When he came around there was a nice hot cup of tea on the bedside table curtesy of his Mum.
 6. Im not in love 10cc Its the only slow single we had at a teenage party and got played quite a few times once the snogging commenced
 7. I have one of these for my MacBook. I just tried a foot on it in slippers. It flexes quite a bit and I'm not sure that it'll work with stomp boxes unless you have a pretty delicate stomp. Would the bending not cause problems with whatever you attach your pedals like Velcro? It's very good for laptops though.
 8.
Well if we can mention several, I'd add Forever Changes (Love, 1967...) ... http://youtu.be/Q1L11Y0I5E0
Me too
 9. Been playing Cissy Strut for a while . Love it
 10.
I really like the "Jazz Era" Joni L.P's.. "Refuge of the Roads" from "Hejira" still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Joni's voice and acoustic guitar blend so well with JP's superbly phrased bass playing. That L.P. has got some classic songs on it that still stand today, "Amelia" and "Furry Sings the Blues" being just two.
My favourite too
 11. Rhythm Stick is great. It's quite simple but mainly16ths. The challenge is to keep it going solidly and make each note count ,while keeping it funky. I find it a really good workout ! I know what you mean about Herbie Hancock and repetition having recently been playing Chameleon.
 12.
Pwahahahahah....love it...Jonnysomenotes..... Nice one ..

Q Even harder to play it with just one finger on the plucking hand - quite how St. James did it beggars belief.
He didn't . I'm pretty sure it was played by Wilton Felder of The Crusaders. And he's a trumpet player. Sorry I missed the earlier post.
 13.
This is one of the few songs that I've gone on Youtube and watched someone play along to it to get the notes. Another song I have just learned is Footloose played by one of my all time favourite bass players, Nathan East. I had played it for years but no where near the original and I wanted to learn it properly with the new band I have recently joined so I found the Youtube video below. If you go to the guy's website he has even transcribed it so I was able to read the part rather than keep stopping and starting the clip to get the correct notes. This is undoubtably the most difficult bass line I have ever had to play just because it is a relentless barrage of notes and one fumble has you galloping up diarrhea drive without a saddle
ub I found that a really tough one too. Doesn't help that I don't really like the song much either. It's one of those simple but hard to nail lines for me. I
 14. My take on this is that if you were keen to buy this keyboard S/h without warrnty for £1650 and happy to transfer funds then what diiference does it make paying cash other than having take it out of the bank and carry a substantial amount of money around ? The sellers financial or banking circumstances are neither here nor there. For me the question would be was I comfortable buying a complex electronic device with no comeback or spending a considerable amount more, 400quid is quite a chunk for me,to buy a nice shiny new one with warranty from a local dealer. Is it that the sellers approach has raised concerns about his general trustworthiness regarding the instrument rather than why he wants cash ? Personally I'd not worry about the cash thing if it was this sh keyboard that I wanted to buy. Pleaes let us know how it pans out Good luck!
 15. Thhats sad I photographed him a couple of years ago during a music impro workshop type of thing. https://www.flickr.com/photos/wysingartscentre/8680797484/
 16.
Toyah still does it for me.
i had lunch with Toyah back in the early '80s She was lovely. Must have been a dress down day though as she wasn't wearing the Boots vid outfit.
 17.
I heard he's getting his Mrs in to do the "Ride Sally ride" bits in the big finish song
It's a mythstery to me.
 18. I actually still enjoyed it too despite the moaning. I can recommend Tony Visconti' s book too if you like music biogs
 19.
Agree about the book - a very dry read, and not in the good way. I don't think I've seen a bad Crim DVD. Is the one you mention the one with Larks' Tongues 3? That's hot.
He's a bit of a moaner isn't he ? But i find most drummers are.
 20. Very nice. May I ask how much ? Looking forward to reading the full review.
 21. Really good But why are they dressed like Devo without their hats ?
 22.
That's no way to talk about Robert Fripp.
Have you heard what Bill bruford has to say about "The Owl" in his biog ?
 23. I once reduced my daughter to the point of tears at the just threat of coming down to the disco on holiday to bust some moves with my Dad dancing. I'm sure she'll be telling her analyst about it in years to come.
 24.
I don't really get this - you only notice the bass when it isn't there. I would imagine most of us play in bands with guitar drums vocals and perhaps one other instrument (probably second guitar or keyboards). In bands like this if the the arrangements are properly orchestrated and the sounds have been chosen appropriately so that each instrument has its own sonic space, then all the instruments are of equal importance and any one instrument dropping out when it shouldn't would be massively noticeable.
Perhaps I should have said missing. It is if you're playing funk, disco, motown, soul or other bass driven type of stuff for people to dance to.
