Love playing that If you watch the live yootoob vids great band performance too. Especially the Victiria Secret one which I've watched once or so. Purely because the part demands it of course

One oft all time favourite band. I've been a fan from White Noise, and seeing them on TV doing Statue of Liberty, which we used to cover in one of my first school bands, probably very badly, to Apple Venus. I still have my vinyl copy of Go2 complete with Moulding's Street Plan of Swindon.

In the '80s I was shooting stills on a pop video for Madness early in the morning in the middle of Camden High St. They Were all dressed as tramps and there were lots of bystanders watching. A little bloke sidled up to me and asked if would be taking his picture. Being tired and grumpy,it was a very early start "I said no probably not". Well f*** you he replied and walked off. It was Lee sax player and main man with the band. Luckily i apologised in the cafe later and he laughed and saw the funny side. Turned into a great two day shoot, great fun and lovely guys to a man. -
I use a merchant on eBay by the name of bassspecialties. I get DR Sunbeams delivered to my door for £20. Can't beat that anywhere. I want to try Elixirs next but they're still a bit pricey. TI flats are just ridiculously dear - you can buy a decent pedal for the price of those strings. I don't care how good they are - that's plain extortion.
That sounds good for DRs . Im keen to try them. Do you not get hit for duty or tax?

All of the above but how about Ike Willis especially on Zappa's Joes Garage ? Great voice
the sticks/brushes/hot rods thing - I can make hotrods easily as loud as sticks, and I can make sticks as quiet as brushes. It's not the easiest thing to learn but surely most gigging drummers can play quietly?
Ive heard a drummer describe this as playing to the room , which sounds like an eminently sensible approach to me. I wish more would adopt this. I try to on bass
Lucky number - Lena Lovitch. Not my favourite, but love the quirkiness of it. Some great suggestions on this thread Python Lee Jackson - wasn't that Rod Stewart in an earlier guise ?
Lene Lovitch's album with this on is very good. Great version of The Four Seasons song The night on it.

Welcome to basschat Constantine. just had a quick look at your Youtube channel and the other thread on here about you. Great work Sir!

I had wondered where you'd been Pete and missed you at the last nearly dan gig I went to the other week. I'm so pleased that you're on the mend and hope that you're back on the road again soon. Echoing all the above sentiments well done for taking the right step. So many don't. Keep well and all the very best to you and yours Mike
Take a break, but don`t sell all your gear. You may find a renewed interest in music a few years down the line, and having to then re-buy is a pain - I`ve been there. Just sounds to me like your interest for your current band has gone. Once you start to resent gigging it really gets to you, so leaving is def best for both you and the band.
Yep very sound advice. Take a break but keep your gear.

Nearly Dan. About an hour ago in Bury St Edmunds. They were great despite No Pete Academy though

Pretty much all of the albums mentioned so far would be in my top ten for the '80s, but notably So and Songs From the Big Chair. I'd also nominate talking Heads Remain in Light.

Always happy to help with basic set ups for guitars and basses and simple soldering jobs. North Essex/Cambridge

Listening to it on the way home today I had already forgotten how good The Next Day album is. Great drums and bass.

If you can get hold of a copy of stuart clayton's excellent nile rodgers bernard edwards funk and grooves book it may help. Id go fingerstyle unless you can work the chucking thing up to speed.

It's not for me - but someone is gonna like this

Not sure I'd have a suitably "elaborated persona". Strange use of English maybe not their first language. Like the point about rehearsing vs learning and I'd prefer an ad that states what's required before turning up for an audition as this does to be fair. -
Impossible to choose, but listening to Let's Dance today I had forgotten how much I liked Cat People (Putting Out The Fire). Was sad to hear that Bowie had gone off that album, and yes, it was very 80's, but I still love it.
We used to play China Girl ( nice bass) and Heroes in a previous band.would have liked to have done Cat People. Great song. Not sure about the film, apart from Natassia Kinski of course

Too many to chose but just heard Drive in Saturday on the radio which would certainly be a contender
Just discovered his work over the Xmas break and wondered if anyone else is into his stuff? Gonna start exploring some Brand X. Some interesting techniques he uses in this series: http://youtu.be/cgUMguYktPE
Brand X livestock album is great. I first heard Percy Jones on this in 1977, bought the album and still have it. I must dig it out for a listen.
