1.
I've decided. The Stranglers were Prog Punk.
Thatll be Dave Greenfield's bits I reckon.
 2. Search Scott Devines excellent lesson breaking this down. It's hard but very good.
 3.
Ha Ha Ha Ernie Ball super slinky 45 – 100 Just feel right on my bass. I tried different strings for about 2 years until I tried these and have not changed since.
Ive been happily using regular slinkies 45-105 on my basses for a few years. Really like them too
 4. Ive been using a pocket rockit but its just started playing up on the headphone socket so ive ordered a Vox Amplug Bass2, which seems simple enough . I only want to use it to learn stuff and playalong to the headphone out of my mac or iPad, although I guess one could record to a pc with it at a push
 5.
Stop trying to be hip and trendy Mr D. Is he not the man who championed the well known angst singer Chesney Hawkes!!
And did tv ads for American Express
 6. Yep big fan. Only know the Tim Buckley or This mortal coil version of this.
 7.
Gear 4 Music have got an Ampeg BA115 combo on offer at £199 (down from £374) which is 100W and would just about do you for small venues. But it's 62lb (28kg). I think you may have to compromise, somewhere. http://www.gear4musi...CioERoCqeXw_wcB Also I've never used this combo so don't know if it's any good or not! It's got a DI out though, so you could go to PA for bigger gigs and use it as a stage monitor.
Ive used one of these in a rehearsal studio nice sound and good for small gigs and with pa backup bigger ones.
 8. Hartke ? S/h?
 9.
Well, I was going to avoid watching it but that rant provokes a sort of perverse curiosity...
DON'T DO IT !
 10.
Didn't know what all the fuss was about. Until I listened. I am not a prejudiced man and - though some may believe otherwise - it is a very rare day when I find myself reduced to sheer, choking rage Let us set aside the ham-fisted arrangement, lumpy mix and turgid 'beat'. Let us quell the nausea we may have experienced upon viewing the soupy, simpering visuals which accompanied the 'music'. Let us ignore issues of provenance and draw a veil over questions of faithfulness to the original. The truth is that this performance of 'God Only Knows' is truly the most appalling piece of sh*t I've heard in a long life that includes enforced exposure to the oeuvres of Paper Lace and Mr Russ Abbott. One may not even recline on the old chestnut of 'the valueless-ness of subjective opinion in musical criticism'. By every objective measure the song falls so low as to be skimming the bricks at the bottom of the sewer. The fact that it is intended to support a charitable effort in no way detracts from its unutterable loathsomeness. In fact it makes it worse; if this is the best the BBC can do in a noble cause, God help us all when they aren't much bothered. Stuff for charity doesn't have to be half-arsed, y'know; the authenticity of the charitable transaction is not undermined by professionalism, taste and talent. In any event, it is immaterial whether a musical performance is intended to relieve - say - the suffering of the Thomson's gazelle or merely to line the pockets of its composer. A song's ulterior purpose is irrelevant to its inherency. This being the case I shall now proceed to youtube, there to seek out 'The Horst Wessel Lied'. It may have been the Nazis' marching song but it's musically superior to this bloated, formulaic, self-regarding train-wreck. It will also make my ears vomit, the better to resume normal listening. .
Oh for a like button. Thanks Skank
 11.
You beat me, I only lasted about 5 seconds and had to stop and go out for a fag.
If I'd watched any longer I would have probably started smoking again
 12. Somebody just sent me a link to this awful piece of cheesy crap. I want the part of my licence fee spent on this latest BBC sub strictly calumny refunded. I only lasted as long as the bit where The Anita Dobson look a like that used to be in Queen appeared and had to stop. Why oh why as they say on points of view.
 13.
That bass looks like it got dressed in the dark!
Brilliant
 14. Having defretted my old bass awhile ago id say £90 is well worth it
 15.
That was only for research purposes.
So err just how is the book coming along Pete?
 16. Also there are interesting similarities to both Apple's and U2 plc's tax policies
 17.
Great marketing move from U2... wonder how much that cost them..??? My phone is music free unless I youtube it. That is not what I want from it, tbh.
According to Private Eye this week Apple paid Bonio and friends £100 million to use their new album.
 18.
We played at small Nottingham festival Medfest on Saturday. When we arrived, I was disappointed to see a sparse turnout, with a smattering of people passively sitting watching the great Mike Rutherford Band pumping out some blues crowd-pleasers. A couple of reggae acts followed and then us as the final act. Thankfully a group of friends/fans came along and we got a great atmosphere going, with people dancing and kids with too much candy floss in their systems dancing and running like mad things. My six year old daughter, Maya, had been promised last year that she could sing with the band on her favourite song 'Lollipop' so we decided that this would be the gig. It was lovely having her on stage, and she did brilliantly - she was chuffed to bits and is really proud, especially as she was very nervous beforehand. Thats a really nice pic. Welll done Maya
19. Cold turkey, a couple of days of extreme grumpines and I was cured alright. Been clean for about 8 years now and can't ever imagine smoking again after spending most of my adult life as a serial quitter Go for it and if you fall off the wagon get back on again and you' will stop if you really want to.
 20. Love my sx p bass bought from WHUFC on here a few years ago. a good ash body and ok neck although its now a bit of a trigger's broom: wizard pickup, gotoh hardware and cts pots. Ive also added a mighty mite fender licenced neck and its really good and still has only cost me less than £200 in total Suggest similar mods to your mm one would work really well
 21.
Duane was, like many others, ahead of his time. He got the best out of Clapton, if there are a few of you that have not (for some silly reason) checked out the Derek and Dominoes album, do it now. Phenomenal.
Absolutely
 22.
Can't get enough of Whipping Post. Too good.
Me neither The live (filmore east ?) version of Stormy Monday is terrific too! Great band
 23. Lovely bass and great playing. Good luck with the sale.
