If the topic is sublime, sadly missed singers, may I offer this for your consideration...? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2xODjbfYw8 One of the finest, ever, imo. Sadness; gone too soon.
Absolutely. Have you heard thea gilmore's album covering sandy denny's songs ? Its very good
Blimey - if you've got your own mic and stand your way ahead of most of the vocalists I've worked with! In my experience, they turn up two minutes before the soundcheck, then after the gig flirt with the punters while we pack up the kit
Ive often found that of these two items to bring along the singer will often forget one or both.

I will be leaving my current band Plan C, website below, after our next gig on NYE and so will be available for any interesting new musical, projects, depping opportunities next year. Ideally paid but open to anything interesting I have been playing in covers and function bands for years, have good gear, I'm reliable and always turn up to rehearsals on time, having learned the songs first. Love playing anything with a bit of groove and will play most genres of music except heavy metal and would prefer to avoid classic rock type setlists, although I really don't mind depping on Sweet Home Alabama occasionally if it gets me out of the house. Gissa job Mike http://plancband.co.uk/home.html http://youtu.be/VyBc22YS4u0

Dark Side or Wish you were here for me A cautionary tale though: Years ago I was discussing over a pint or 6 with a bunch of workmates our most embarrasing teenage moments. My colleague related the time that he was lying on his bed at home with headphones on, eyes closed, listening to Wish You Were Here while here having a spot of er... "me time" . When he came round there was a nice hot cup of tea on the bedside table.
I thought meths was surgical spirit with a dye added.
Its actually a pretty nasty chemical called pyridine: "Pyridine is harmful if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through the skin.[115] Effects of acute pyridine intoxication include dizziness, headache, lack of coordination, nausea, salivation and loss of appetite. They may progress into abdominal pain, pulmonary congestion and unconsciousness.[116] One person died after accidental ingestion of half a cup of pyridine.[22] The lowest known lethal dose (LDLo) for the ingestion of pyridine in humans is 500 mg·kg−1. In high doses pyridine has a narcotic effect and its vapor concentrations of above 3600 ppm pose a health risk.[45] The oral LD50 in rats is 891 mg·kg−1. Pyridine is flammable.

Oh my that's great thanks Clarky. I cant tell you how much i enjoyed that concert. Even if my luminous glow ring necklace leaked and didn't last six weeks like the bloke said it would if I put it in the freezer. The whole adventure of me and my mate Ian schlepping up to Earls Court on the train from Kent at 15, a quick burger courtesy of the newly launched beef clown restaurant, and then Genesis live with two drummers, lasers and everything. Life has never been better Aah Nostalgia isn't what it used to be -
Met up with BCers Molan (Barrie) and Garythebass and saw Steve Hackett at the Apollo. Not only did it bring a huge lump to my throat as he played songs from my first ever gig (Genesis at Earls Court 1977, 13 year-old Clarky) but he played for 2 and three-quarter hours. Bloody hell. What a star. Some nice guests too, best being John Wetton who sang on one track and sounds fantastic still That was a great gig! One happy Clarky
That was my first big gig too! As a 15 year old Lonestar I wish id known about the Steve hackett gig too. -
School bass. Are you kidding? I wanted to do o level music but as only one other person wanted to we couldn't Music lessons were a balding middle aged bloke trying to engage teenagers in 1975 by playing Shadows albums on the education authority style record player which we could make jump by stamping on the floor when he turned his back to draw a crotchet on the blackboard.
Heat cold cycle on the metal doesnt help make it last any longer either. Back in the day I was into boiling them, but they would become more liable to break than if just left. Since moving over to meths I havent had any issues. Band leader: I want a songlist of 200 songs...
lonestar replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
Yes - I completely agree with you. After 5 rehearsals we're up to 20 songs and, in my personal opinion, we're a million miles away from playing a local open mic night, let alone a pub gig, let alone a function or a wedding. Maybe I'm expecting too much, too soon - I've been told before that I'm too pessimistic.
I cant think why you're sticking with this it doesn't sound a whole bundle of fun ? -
Great band great vid and lovely bass playing. Whats not to like? Thanks mike
-
+1 You seem to be getting rid of the perfect pub outfit, to buy errrrr........ another pub outfit Does not compute????????????
I agree. I had a hartke ha500 With ashdown 4x10 & 115 for ages and switched to a markbass cmd210p combo. I've never felt the need for anything else You current set up sounds great for pubs unless your band is extremely loud. Or your cab is too heavy to cart about.
