Rob Trujillo also wears his bass lower than pretty much everyone else. Surprising how he can still reach it. Liam
Silly haircut though. I photographed metallica donnington in the 80s they were very good.

Even the disagreements are lyrica!Great response from Mr Dolby.
Instead of playing single string notes like the brother, my guitar playing allowed me to figure out some other notes on different strings.
What? BURN THE WITCH ! Just kidding welcome to bass playing and chatting here. Mike

My first bass amp was a FAL PA amp driving a 2x12 "custom made" reflex bass cab. It was very loud projecting the low end of my Kay/avon hybrid precision copy right to the far end of Green St Green village Hall. Happy days.
What was the first 'tribute' band, paying 'tribute' to a previously successful group..? The concept didn't exist, or if it did, I don't remember it, back in the '60s and '70s. Was it simply with the decline of the 'super-group' that this ball started rolling..? Who were the first to have tribute paid to them in this way..? Hmm...
I think the Australians started it with Bjorn again and the pink floyd one whose name escapes me. I remember seeing ads for a ZZ to tribute act when i was living in Darwin late 1980's and that's my first awareness of such a thing. There were quite a lot of tribute bands in the Antipodes. I guess 12000 miles is a long way to go and play for a country with small population with big spaces between cities, making it a costly business.

Nearly Dan and zappa plays zappa are my favourite tribute bands.
We shared the bill with one , went into their dressing room to say hi to find the singer on his knees in front of a Freddie poster. Drummer told us to bugger off while he 'invoked Freddie's spirit'. What can you do ? !
I stopped reading at singer on his knees and had to go back and read the rest of the post after id finished my sandwich

I saw some advice from a doctor a few years ago that says one should never insert into the ear canal anything smaller than your elbow. Sound advice to me.
Fixato, hombre. The fact is, 30% of the general public are morons. 30% are just deeply unpleasant. Another 30% are unpleasant morons. I wouldn't work in retail if you paid me a king's ransom and all the pickles I could eat. On so many occasions I've observed other music shop customers so brutally swollen with their self-importance, their ignorance and their chippy sense of 'I'm the customer and I expect a blow-job' that I've taken shelter behind a screen in case they explode all over the emporium. To be faced with a succession of blithering opinionated gum-boils poking the merchandise, boring one rigid with stultifying anecdotes about their hobby band and then asking for a 'best price' with no remote intention of buying anything would propel any reasonable man into the kind of situation where subsequent reports conclude with the phrase '... before turning the gun on himself'.
Great post! You should see a professional photographer in action in the days of camera shops too. All of the above tossery in a safari jacket.

In the 80s i worked for a couple of hi fi mags. There was a guy called peter belt who sold some interesting, err improvements for your system. Try googling him. I recall one involve a piece of wire a couple of inches long with croc clips that you attached to your power cord. Another was sticking bluetack in all your 13amp plugs. Try this for example http://pwbelectronics.co.uk/product/quantum/quantum.html

A few years ago we played a big gig outdoors at Hylands house(V festival venue); Probably the biggest crowd we'd ever played to. I couldn't see my regular tuner LEDs in the bright sunlight so used my spare LCD one to tune my five string peavey in a rush. I Started the first song and was horrendously out of tune and just couldn't find the pitch at all. I had to stop playing and switch bass mid-song it was so bad. When I checked afterwards, at the suggestion of the sound guy, I had inadvertently switched the tuner from 440hz to something else. Oh how we all laughed. Not!

Thank you chaps. I googled DSR and was a little concerned that it came up as a high velocity rifle. All is clear now

HH VS with that lovely green glow. Aah nostalgia isn't what it used to be. Actually I think the barefaced cabs with the silver grill cloths look really smart
Indeed. He may not have been the best drummer in the Beatles but he was the best drummer for the Beatles.
The mix on the Beatles love album thing reveals some really nice drumming. Back on topic what about Jim Lea in Slade ?

Sorry I don't know what DSRs are

http://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/overwater-by-tanglewood-aspiration-elite-5-string-maple Anyone know where I can try one of these locally? Thinking of replacing my peavey TL5 I'm based in Essex and its a bit of a schlep to Glasgow.
I suppose I`m lucky having Coda Music in both Luton and Stevenage, as the staff in each are great. Even Fretz in Hemel, which is just down the road from me is good, but being so small they have a limited range.
Ive always had good service from Coda too. they were very helpful when I had problems with both a fender twin and a hartke amp that I bought from them a few years ago. The first under guarantee with a dodgy valve which they replaced. The Hartke was just out of warranty but they still managed to help me sort it out with the then importer FOC. Always good service from John Lewis too in my exprience
And how, pray tell, did one find that website in the first place? Something you want to say? The 4th one down gets me - the wall looks like a mixture of kid crayon drawings overlayed with blood smears where people have been smashed against the wall during torture.
Good aren't they ? This link was sent to me by a single 50 something fellow photographer friend of mine. Its a bit of a worry come to think of it. Those poor Eastern Ukrainians what are they thinking wanting to hitch up with Putin who's bare chest shot on horseback would look right at home on this site
