1. I would suggest training your ear. Listen to the original bassline and try to play along with it. Dont rely on tabs they are a bad habit to get into.
2. I bought a Stingray off of here earlier this year and gigged it once or twice with my band - but TBH, its not really suited to the music I play. I still prefer the old fashioned thump of a Precision bass in all honesty. Still its horses for courses, there are some folk on here who wont be seen dead with a Fender.
3. This takes not only the biscuit, but the whole pack!! Very expensive cheapo p bass copy
4. I,m getting a real deal for £2.40 at he moment
5. £1.24? Someones going to get a right bargain for that price!
6. I play in a function band and are sometimes asked to play old reggae classics - 'Kingston Town, Three Little Birds' etc. But you cant do much with spindley cheesewire strings. Hence 45 - 105 on a Precision for me (Roundwounds with the treble rolled off)
7. I dare someone to message him and ask how heavy it is?
8.
Did someone say Beatles cover?
Boring fact No. 459. Did you know that The Beatles 1966 album 'Revolver' was originally going to be recorded in Memphis, Tennessee and NOT Abbey Road Studios in London??
9. My old 1977 USA P Bass was over 9 pounds! I had to wear a 3 inch leather strap to support it! My Ray feels much better. The VM Jazz is almost featherlite.
10. Take your phone off the hook when your recording an instructional video!!
11. Looks great! I had one of those Columbuses back in the 1980's and that had those silly little tuners on as well. How about a tugbar under the G string for the vintage look?
12. And keep smiling. Be confident in your abilities. I have auditioned people in the past who stand there staring at their shoes and mumbling. Needless to say, they didnt get the job.
13. I,m going there tomorrow to drop the Stingray in to have the frets stoned Might have a lesuirely twang on something too!
14.
This is a very cool vintage P - bass. It dates from 1971 SN/ 713961 crafted in Korea.
Well I'm convinced, Wheres me wallet??
15.
It might be useful if you say whereabouts you are?
Brighton apparently, If this is the same bass for sale last month, I havent looked TBH.
16. If it is a working instument and you wish to play it, get it refretted. If not maybe you should just forget about it.
17. I wouldnt bother with any of them. If I were you, I'd get myself a Squier VM Jazz. I,ve been playing umpteen years, and I use one as a back up bass.
18.
I think the G/B/D trio means Guitar/Bass/Drum trio
Oh! I thought it was root third fifth
19.
I do this. If I play short, percussive notes vaguely in the correct key most people don't notice the actual note values. They will notice if I drop out completely.
Thats why I can never listen to Daytripper, the whole bass drops out for a bar!
20. I usually give the guitarist a dirty look! - Its normally him who mucks it up anyway, so everyone else looks at him as well! I know, horrible git aren't I??
21. I have the bridge cover on my lookalikee, I quiet like it. It reminds me of Sir Horace Gentlemans P Bass. It is a pain in the butt when playing with a pick though as it gets in the way. I was gonna get a pickup cover too but thought better of it!!
22. I have played about 8 of those tunes at the local British Legion, although I dont know the original bass parts, I invent my own. Most of them are II - V- I progressions or a variation on it.
