I recently had a Behringer 180 watt Ultrabass 12" combo, it wasnt particuarly a bad amp, but it was so heavy to carry for a small amp that I had to get rid of it.
The ultrabass thing was a bit of a gimmick too - I never used that feature.
+1 with the Ashdown.
I use them on my Squier jazz, they seem to be OK although the windings are a bit on the long side and sit on the saddle of the E string making the string sound dead.

Yes, the original 1951 P bass came with through body stringing, but not until about 1995 did I see a USA P bass that had them again, that was the 50th anniversary model IIRC
I did some research on MM Stingrays when looking to buy one after many years of playing a P bass, and come across the importance of unplugging the amplifier lead to save battery life! Glad I did, or I,d be on a battery a week!!
That was The first bass I ever owned, way back in 1982 - followed by a westone thunder 1 in 1983
Dreadful thing it was! - My past has come back to haunt me!!
Been playing bass since about 1982 and still no good at it
Low point - Being booed offstage when the P A failed midsong.
High point - Playing bass on a friend of a friends bands recording, at the world famous Abbey Road studios
If you prefer a multitrack machine, I picked up one of these on ebay for peanuts recently, built in drum machine and digital effects and burn your own CD on it!
I had a similar problem with the E string on the Jazz Bass. It turned out to be the silk winding on the ball end was resting on the bridge saddle. This caused a loss of sustain and a dead tone.
But I actually liked the effect and kept the string on!
This post had me thinking about up the neck playing. I never really play beyond the 10th fret in normal gigging mode, although I occasionally do a little lick in E which ends up on the G# 13th fret G string

Hers actually pretty awesome!
Is there a link to this??
Where is this club exactly? The only things opposite Ealing Bdwy station is haven green common and a taxi rank
I may pop along as its only a bus ride for me!
Our guitarist fell off the stage during a gig once, after consuming a bottle of Jack Daniels all by himself beforehand!.
The Hohner Jack is a good bass, I had one a few years ago, after headless basses went out of fashion!
I have one of those, it is extremely well padded, the tolex type pvc is coming away a bit and the glue they use is very pungent, good construction and well worth the price, good VFM IMHO
I played a gig once where the guitarist was so out of tune, I had to turn the bass right down and grin and bear it!
Funny thing was, he didnt even think it was him!
I recently got myself an 8 track recorder to use as a musical sketchpad. Unfortunatly, I appear to have got a bit carried away with it
Its a Boss Br900 with a built in drum machine which I used to start a song idea off, followed by an acoustic guitar and vocal, two rhythm guitar tracks, a bass track, a keyboard track and a lead guitar part and another vocal track.
My simple song idea now has turned into something from Phil Spector!!
