Hey did you see Joey Jordison on bass!
Hers actually pretty awesome!
Is there a link to this??
Where is this club exactly? The only things opposite Ealing Bdwy station is haven green common and a taxi rank
I may pop along as its only a bus ride for me!
Our guitarist fell off the stage during a gig once, after consuming a bottle of Jack Daniels all by himself beforehand!.
The Hohner Jack is a good bass, I had one a few years ago, after headless basses went out of fashion!
I have one of those, it is extremely well padded, the tolex type pvc is coming away a bit and the glue they use is very pungent, good construction and well worth the price, good VFM IMHO
I played a gig once where the guitarist was so out of tune, I had to turn the bass right down and grin and bear it!
Funny thing was, he didnt even think it was him!
I recently got myself an 8 track recorder to use as a musical sketchpad. Unfortunatly, I appear to have got a bit carried away with it
Its a Boss Br900 with a built in drum machine which I used to start a song idea off, followed by an acoustic guitar and vocal, two rhythm guitar tracks, a bass track, a keyboard track and a lead guitar part and another vocal track.
My simple song idea now has turned into something from Phil Spector!!

I drive a Ford Focus so what does that make me??
I fully agree with you! I play my VM Jazz down the local British Legion through a cheap Behringer 180 watt combo.
Its true, the old folk who want Jim Reeves and Johnny Mathis dont care or even know what a good bass sound is!
OTOH, I use my Stingray through a Trace Elliot 400 watt to play Louder clubs and pubs to youngsters who want it LOUD!!
My VM Squire Jazz Bass. It was originally a fretless, but has been added a fretted neck and a nice tort pickguard.
You can see the three peice basswood body quite clearly, along with a nasty looking knot in the wood!
Fitted with flats for a nice retro sound!!

I use flats on the Jazz and rounds on the Stingray.
Doing the circuit that I do, its nice to have a nice deep sound for reggae and jazz/swing and the clickity clackity slap sound for funk etc!!
I once played at a music pub in Watford. The front bar was rammed, but the music bar was empty apart from one pissed bloke who wanted "Proud Mary" and Brown Eyed Girl"
After a while even he walked out and we where playing to an empty room!
Eventualy the governer came in paid us and told us to f*** off! I,ve still no idea why??
I learned the Sound Affects album by The Jam when I first started playing - started off on simple songs like Pretty Green, Music For The Last Couple before going to But I,m Different Now etc.
If you,re not familar with this album take a listen, theres some great bass work on there by the legendary Bruce Foxton.
C&W? Chromatic runs? No. Turnarounds? Straight climbs and descents in the key. Keep it simple.
Nodding off? Well, you may find it boring but it's the audience that matters, isn't it? And if they get a sense of disrespect for the music they like, you can probably expect a traditional Irish greeting afterwards.
God, no! I,ve no disrespect for anyones music! I,m just after some tips from folks who have done these gigs
