1.
There is a tendency by some to refer to a guitarist here as a guitard. We all know what this means and personally I find it quite offensive. I have had the pleasure of working with many fantastic guitarist and none of them would fall into this category.
Is it offensive ? I'd say its certainly childish.
  2.
And I certainly wouldn't want to step on it barefoot.
Talking of things not to tread on with bare feet, how about stickle bricks for the enclosure ?
  3.
So far my ideas are either an N64 rumble pack (though it's not smaller), or possibly building a small lego enclosure for it.
I like the Lego idea - pretty robust too.
  4. An old tobacco or sweetie tin ? I think I'd be after something metal - it's going to be underfoot even of you're not treading on it. That said, the Super Fuzz Boy is very very cool.

  6. Young folks ? Pah ! We were fitter in the war you know. Mind you, in those days you could leave a job in the morning and get a new one in the afternoon. And have you seen the price of milk these days. No, I don't trust that Corbyn fellow much either...
  7.
You mean something like The Beatles!! Wonder how many times they had to spell it in the early years.
8. In line with the centre line of the control plate, so sort of 2 o'clock position. Anything else ruins the symmetry of the control plate, OBVS
  9. Avoid choosing anything you'll have to spell to anyone as odds-on you'll end up trying to explain the spelling during a loud gig. "What's your band called ?" "Kyote" "Coyote ?" "No, close tho - it's key-o-tee" "Aaaah, like the city - Kyoto" "No - Kyote - Kay-why-oh-tee-ee" etc....
  10. Kev's a very impressive all-round musician and member here to boot I'm particularly partial to his saw playing His current band Prescott are well worth checking out
  11. If the band feel that they play better in that environment then more power to them. But 'honesty' ? No - that's a hiding to nowhere IMHO. Recording is a process of deception - fooling your senses into thinking that something is happening when it isn't. How much of that dishonesty you're willing to accept is a personal choice, there's no absolute.
  12. I'd add a slightly inebriated crowd and I think you'd have yourself a rocking gig !
  13.
I think that the guitarist may have invited his girlfriend too...
If she comes along, find out when they'll next be having a 'big chat' and ask if you can eat carbonara and maybe sup "something a bit special"* from the wine list whilst they do... *You deserve it.
  14.
Feels a bit like splitting up with a partner – you know when its time to do it, for all sorts of good reasons, but it doesn’t exactly leave you feeling brilliant all the same, and can leave you feeling a bit insecure and in a vacuum afterwards. Hmm.
Six weeks they say it takes to start a new habit, or get rid of an old one. I'm not sure who 'they' are, but I've found that to be a good yardstick in the past when trying to change my behaviour. It feels weird now as you're moving from one thing to another, but you'll adjust in a month or so. Get stuck into that mixing desk, or maybe try something totally new. Keeps the old grey matter agile /taps temple for effect/
  15. I'd say this is disco-type http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4-5gHR3_Kg

Sorry, everything's now sold. Thanks to everyone who's been in contact,
  17. They don't call it the glam stomp for nothing.
  18.
You walk into a urinal and heads turn

..... when you are not interrupted by the Bingo.
What a lovely image.
  19.
These are the main bits of kit I have - really nothing special, The bandsaw is really small - was £20 off eBay. I did also buy the cheapest planer/thicknesser in the Screwfix sale but that is a recent acquisition. The drill stand was off Freecycle.....
I showed my wife this thread and she said "Oooooh, see I told you we needed a router !" I think you may have inspired a new hobby
  20. You earn a "...ft. /Band Name Here/" on a Clean Bandit No.1 ?

    Rat and Soul Food pending
  22.
I just don't understand it.
Good, I say.
  23. If was after playing in any of those bands I'd certainly get in contact to have a chat. There's limited mileage in trying to 'decode' an advert IMHO. It's an rough description and invitation to get in contact, that's all - I've replied to ads that looked ideal and didn't work out, and also replied to some so-so ads and played with some great people. Maps and territories.....not the same.
  24.
Cheers. Go on, have a go at making one. Doesn't need much space....just have to put up with the dust and chippings etc everywhere!!! I'm going to finish this bass with oil - tried a little on the neck and it looks really nice. Hopefully get to do some work on this over Easter
I used Danish Oil on a bass body I finished last year - I was very pleased with the results. AS for the space - it's mainly the space to keep the tools. My once-commodious shed now seems full ! What would you saw are the essentials, powered-tools wise ? Router and a bandsaw ?
  25. Lovely, just lovely. One day when I've got the space....
