3.
alternate for me. I only strum specifically upwards if im playing mre than one note at once as it sounds less muddy
it does seem to have more attack on the upstroke.

    Power banks?
I've got the previous version of the Maplin power bank which had a different case, but the exact same spec. it was a bit noisy- I changed the regulator chip in mine which reduced the noise a bit.
the newer one must be an improvement...the soundlab is the quietest psu i've got...a lot guieter than my switched-mode thinger. what chip did you upgrade to ?

  14. just did an exchange of my boss syb-5 for a twin effects loop pedal and some funds with chris top guy....kept in contact throughout. if you get to deal with him, i'm sure you'll come away happy thanks mano !!

  16. just to add a happy ending to this story....jcater is right, the key to the microbass is tiny adjustments...they should fit verniers on these things. i've used it in recording and it sounds great...and i used it for the first time at practise today (into the fx return of a GK head) and it sounded amazing - both the guitarist and the dummer commented on how defined the bass sounded. so...after a lot of tweaking, i can say i'm finally a happy microbass user
  17. i don't know, but i'd love there to be some hard-boiled crime fiction about a private eye who plays upright in a jazz band...
  18.
A slight kind of suggestion; Why not keep the neck p'up, but modify it so it doesn't sense the strings, and just acts as a hum-cancelling dummy?
/scratches beard/ reckon you could certainly rig something up
  19. odd...i never use the bridge pickup on mine.
  20. hey...how would you feel about a boss syb-5 in good nick for some trading action ? i'm interested in the double loop...but think the boss would be worth a bit more.
  21. anyone here play with a plectrum, but hit the strings only on the upstroke, a la steve severin ? just wondered. i do very occassionally if it's quite a sparse bassline.
  22.
I always use the tone control on my bass in order to vary how bright the bass is from song to song.
me too...some songs need a more cutting tone than others. i only ever back it off by about a third of a turn though.
  23.
get some of these: http://www.hearingprotection.co.uk/index.p...&Itemid=121 I got mine at Specsavers audioligy dept in Wolves for £160 - which does sound very OTT but when you think about it, it's worth every penny.
i think i'm going to look into that very soon...thanks for the tip shame their website describes their product as beign made from "soft durable silicon".....sand in your ears anyone ?
