1. then i suggest you rock it. rock it hard !
2. as of tuesday i'm going to be up in newcastle for xmas (well...in gosforth anyway - that bit of newcastle that will be forever surrey ) i may just have to pop into some of the aforementioned shops !
3. valves don't always glow - when i was swapping round valves in the dha pedal i had a while back, some would light up, some wouldn't. if it sounds ok, i wouldn't worry about it.
4. iirc it was played on a fretless musicman sabre, with mutes i may be wrong...i may be right.
5. that's one of my favourite play-along songs... but i think he actually gets it right ...but then i do play it on fretless.

Preamps/DI's

how much do you want to spend is prolly a pertinent question.
7. nice bit o'wood. always fancied one of those myself !
8. i've got one. what would you like to know ?
9. many years ago i took the stage at the darlington arts centre and managed to play the chorus bassline over the verse, and the verse part over the chorus. luckily the song had a drone-based military feel, both parts worked...in a odd way. drugs are baaad, hmmm...ok ?
10. that's a beautiful bass. good luck !
11.
I try and look after them, but don't cry to myself if I do manage to ding one
plus the one. basses are tools and they get the odd scar, but as long as it's nothing that affects the instrument then i'm not bothered.
12. i've only ever used them in parctise studios, but i've always been very impressed by how easy it is to get a good sound. those tiny little fusion 'video-tape-sized' units look very neat.
13. is "mwahahaha" the sound of a happy fretless ? um...i'll get me coat (nice basses btw)
14.
Thanks for being honest ahpook, appreciated. Is it the species or fish in general? Or is bass jewellery simply a no no?
it's less taxonomy and more aesthetics for me.
15. i use a pearl oc-07 octaver (1 or 2 down and one kind of octave up fuzz) tracks down to C...i like it - i use it with the techno band i play with - it's great for the breakdowns and drops.
16. what i've done to warm up before a gig without my bass (tho i'm sure i'll be told it's a bad thing to do) ...is to put you fretting hand flat on the table, with your forearm about 30 deg to the palm, and the raise each finger in turn off the table. it doesn't matter if you can't raise them much, just go round them a few times, but try not to raise the other fingers. ymmv
17.
Be honest, would the fish (it's a perch, my favourite of the British freshwater fish ) put you off this bass?
if i were in the market for a $$ (which as i bought project c's a few weeks back, i'm not), then it would.
18.
This thread's goin' all Isaac Hayes...
i was thinking more...
19. i'd always assumed it was hot glue gun glue.
20.
It's just an 'it' to me.
plus the one. it's a touch mawkish imho
