6.
The way to get maximum effect out of the firewire interface is to have the right recording software. Your DAW should recognise the mixer as a sound card with however many inputs that can be put onto different seperate tracks depending on which one you "ask" it to record on. Sorry that's a crap explanation but the important thing in terms of recording using firewire is the recording software itself.
i'm down with that (hopefully !!), i was just having some driver issues, which i'll solve later. at the moment i just want to record some stuff to see how it sounds ! ta for the advice tho - it's going to be a learning curve to change my set-up eventually.
 7. m-audio nrv-10 sounds fabby...not quite cracked the firewire set-up yet, but i only bought the firewire-equipped mixer to future-proof myself a bit, so that's not essential at the mo. nice small footprint, and nice quite operation.

 16.
Reminds me of a true story that happened to me in 2005 when I was looking to join a band after 20 odd years of bedroom bass playing. At the time I was looking to find a thrash/heavy/metal band and was getting countless knockbacks on account of my age (42). So I did some lateral thinking and put out an ad to form a Slipknot tribute in which I would be wearing a mask and my age wouldn't matter (sad I know). I put the ad up on a metal website and explained the reasons as outlined. Anyways after a couple of weeks I get a reply from a drummer who says (I am paraphrasing) "Hey Clarky, I'm a talented drummer and I adore Slipknot. I would love to start a tribute band with you. I also am discriminated against on account of my age. I am 12. Where are you based, regards Chip". Turns out Chip was in the US and didn't recognise that an email address ending .co.uk was in the UK. Can you imagine meeting his dad? Hey I'm the 42 year old with the horror mask that wants to play with your 12 year old son :-)
"yeah son...off ya go !"
