1. the LS-2 doesn't have any way of inverting the phase of the signal in the signal chain, so if one (or an odd number) of you pedals inverts then you'll not be able to blend them with the clean very well (at all really). some blenders do have phase switches (like the exotic effects x-blender). long signal chain ? not sure if that's an issue - the sends and returns on the LS-s are presumably buffered so that shouldn't be a problem.
2. here's my latest board - all about the dirt now that i'm playing originals tuner > wounded paw black sheep > wounded paw battering ram > dod flanger (switched via the LS-2 to match the volume and to avoid using the dod's footswitch) > tronographic rusty box for playing live all runs into an ebs microbass so i can use a speaker-emulated DI for the PA.

4.
...Patterns - my fingers follow those.
plus the one.
5. Flash ! AAAAAAHHHHHH-AAAAAAA !
6.
I did have a Zoom B2.1u for a while but couldn't get on with programming it. All those 'patches' and 'banks' confused the hell out of me. But in some ways one of those might be a more compact solution.
well, it' got to work for you. but i would say have a look, or perhaps something like a soundblox pro multiwave distortion as it's mainly eq and distortion you're after.
7. have you thought about a multi-fx unit ? something like a zoom b3 or one of the line 6 units might be worth looking into
8. thanks ray. still about folks...
9. there's loads of info here about MM pickups which could be of interest. anyway...f**king magnets ? how do they work ?
10. i used one of these recently at a practice studio and was very impressed when i found out later it was only 100W. did the business even against an energetic drummer.
11.
Wasn't Nesmith actually a good musician before joining the Monkees? I know that they all play stuff now (if they are not dead) but didnt in the early days.
they'd all played in bands or sung professionally before. nesmith did some great music after the monkees - check out his stuff with 'the first national band'.
12. sank like a stone over there... aah well, £20 off for BC-ers ?
13. authentic tobacco burst, right there.
14.
The only person who will give a sh*t is you. Be prepared for the empty feeling inside screaming FAKE! every time you look at it. If you like the bass, be proud of its maker.
very much plus the one.
15.
For me it's probably uncommitted/time wasting musicians, for example you have a practice session and the keyboard player suddenly says "I haven't learnt those songs yet "(while everyone else did) or at the last minute guitarist says "can't make tonight's practice I have a cold" aaaaahhhhhhhhhh
think we were expounding the same idea at the same time there !
16. my current bugbear is people who want to be in bands, but aren't realistic about how much time they're able to devote to it. not working on parts between rehearsals, arriving late, not being able to free time up for rehearsals, that kind of thing...all because of 'no time'. well, that 'no time' is costs me time, when i'm working on parts between rehearsals, being on time, making time to rehearse...i could be up to other things.
17.
I've played through one and it does sound good, however I would never buy one. It's £250 and made in China - talk about artificial markup! It ought to be closer to £25. A lot of guys use the Tech21 Sansamps.
ymmv, of course...
18. final bump before gumtree
19.
Time for a lit survey I think.
if there's any articles you can't get hold of, and would like to see, do let me know. about time i annoyed them at the British Library again
20.
ahpook It Is a long time since I have been called a star It is a phrase I use on my students, showing my age. The initial question is a really good one, and not readily soluble to mere mortals ( ie sub Einstein abilty) or me without practical data. It is the sort of practical real world Physics I enjoy. Lets build a test rig and find out... Lastly I also have a beard ! They are essential for all sorts of reasons
essential indeed...how do people without beards ponder ?
21.
Speaking as an engineer and physicist I think I will have to get some students (lab rats) building the test rig. The problem is complex and of interest. Plywood, old strings, machine head and bath to be pressed into service. Watch this space.
you complete star ! really looking forward to the results...and i'm sure some popular science publications might be too... top thread btw - it's been nice to try to press some of the dustier parts of my brain into action again
22. bump for new price
23. it's a bit pricey, but the EBS microbass II is the best for this imho. it's very neutral-sounding - i never really liked the old "pre-VT" sansmaps as they had to much of a sound of their own (the new ones may be better of course) but the EBS's eq is good, it has speaker emulation and lots of other useful stuff too - i've been using it as my recording preamp for years as well as a live DI. i'm quite a fan, can you tell ?
24.
On stage, I reckon the band should pull as one. Off-stage is where all the bitching and squabbling belongs.
plus the one. i'm amazed it even needs saying.
25. a chimy kind of bump
