1. vid here - only one i could find
2. i'm brining my blackface SVP home in a week or so to give it a once-over - i'm pretty sure mine mainly suffers from hiss tho. which, they all do to some extent don't they ?
3.
Bear in mind that the MXR - and indeed the DOD FX25 - are band-pass filters, and as such they are more in need of a clean volume control or a blend control than low-pass filters are. Personally I prefer the sound of low-pass filters on bass.
now that - i did not know. thanks for the enlightenment.
4. i'd strongly advise you to get one with some way of keeping your clean signal in the mix and/or a level control. of the few i've tried i'd recommend the MXR bass envelope filter - the separate volumes for the clean and effected signals is great. assuming you like the sound of the filter, that is. i don't know about the preowned market, but i've seen them for less than a ton secondhand
5.
That's an old video. Still good!
aaah, that might explain the views/posts ratio ! as you were gentlemen
6. I've got practice tomorrow evening - I'll see if doubling up helps. What I need is a short version of those 'arm warmers' that athletes wear - or I just brave it out and wear an arm sock ! /shudders/
7. Thought this was brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WENS9lhWEQs That Mr. Navarro's quite a wizz with the hot hand !
8. thanks for the useful advice folks.
9.
I'm glad its not just me!
not at all, but i like it. very....british
10. I've recently found that i'm getting friction burns on the inside of my wrist (ooo-errr missus !) form where it rubs on the body of my bass. i'm putting it down to old age...thinning of the skin - that kind of thing, as it never used to bother me. i got a wrist sweat band, but it's too thick and not quite long enough. there must be something out there, short of an arm sock (and the emo look is so out) that would do the job. something sporty ?
11. hmmm....interesting. or rather no-hmmm...interesting what kind of hum was it ? dependent on the gain/drive/volume settings ? the noise from my svp is the only bad thing about it - how's is yours ?
12.
I tend to play along to the original tracks, but that sounds a good idea
me too. old skool !
13. GEB-7 sold to tonyquipment thanks for all the interest folks !
14. i was playing along to 'rio' by duran duran, struggling to get up to speed and girlfren called through from the bedroom saying how good i was sounding. made my day
15.
Pete Hook obviously giving it his all but a stiff backing band and dire singer don't help things.
must be the band...hooky must be used to a dire singer by now

17. Bass Tight Drive sold to korerok
18. if anyone says the 5-string is out of place, be thankful. they've played their arsehole card - you can move on now.
19. i don't think the pickups are active - looking at the spec online they seem to be humcancelling but not active.
20.
Good to hear it`s still kicking about. I thought it was still "on here." You are right about the neck, it puts a Tbird to shame.
it is and going strong (tho the preamp will need some TLC soon). i did actually try a T-bird next to the T-bass and the T-bird was slightly longer
