1.
I like to parallel blend it with a really harsh attacking overdrive sound
whereas i like mine with a 'almost-there' overdrive...just a wee bit of hair.
2.
DI Out? If this doesn't have speaker emulation on the DI then you're gonna have a bad day. Definitely some cool options on this but I'm still puzzled why it has a direct out.
plus the one, not that i think it's going to stop me getting one !
3.
He's was quite good in Erasure.
maybe he thinks it's time for a little respect.
4. I won't stay and see a band if I don't like them, but I'll make sure give them all a listen. but yes 'headlining' at multi-band gigs is most often just a pain.
5. wow
6.
That's because that didn't have a talent like Neil Innes in the band.
and don't forget the trousers...you could see, well, everything.
7. oasis were never as good as the rutles....never mind how hard they tried.
8. great pedal ! i use mine all the time for DI-ing guitar, had a quick bash at bass through it....but i may revist that seing what people are saying !
9. so many of my musical endeavours have foundered recently i'm starting to think that the best thing i can do for the london music scene is to retire ! lots of commitment problems really - i wonder whether at 42 i've reached the point where almost all my peers doing music do it as very much a 'kick about' and i'm the odd one out wanting everyone to come to every practice having done the musical 'homework'. i'm finding it hard to find reasons to look for another band or to get something going myself at the moment...it's a real shame.
10. i use an ebs microbass, and if i'm using a lot of effects (usually overdrives) i'll run a clean signal into the desk at the same time to give me something to play with after the fact. any compression gets put on using a plug-in, but that's the only in-the-box effect i'll use, bar a bit of EQ. software emulation is OK, but i always ended up going back to external preamps...they just sound better to me. i've also used as ampeg svp-pro and an swr studio 220 as preamps and they were nice, but i just like the simplicity (and size) of the ebs. i never mic cabs....i have neighbours !
11. £50 ? a steal ! great heads, i sold mine only as i couldn't justify having two amps ! i'd agree with bassbod about the enhance - go easy on it or it can quickly become very hi-fi. i think i used to leave it at zero. one thing i have read as that they're prone to get very hot, when used at volume. people rack them with fans in the enclosure to make sure it all stays cool. swr amps do run warm as they use the chassis as part of the heatsinking (so they say). my baby baby blue does get warm.
12.
You can alter the pitch of recordings on programs like 'Transcribe'...I'm sure there are others too.
Audacity's what I use.
13.
Maybe cover both with some pink noise?
joss stone is pink noise...
14. TE did some guitar cabinets with angled speakers iirc, but I've never seen anything like that before.
15.
At the end of the day most televisions I have seen have an off switch
and perhaps more importantly, an on switch
16.
We're just up the road over the motorway bridge next to the Crown pub. Many years ago, i managed the Our Price record shop in Harlow. Steve H was always in buying Styx tapes.
i thought for a moment you were going to be in my grandparent's house !!
17.
Thats about 400 yards from my house! They politely declined to mention that it backs on to the M11 and theres a stream that regularly floods at the bottom of the garden.
really ? my grandparents lived in campdell on sheering road for about 20 years, i believe one of iron maiden bought it after my nan and grandad sold it. i spent many a happy summer in the countryside around those houses.
18. just a plus the one on the quality of bear strap's work, and rupert's a lovely guy to deal with.
19. just to add these are amazing quality - i bought and modded one for a friend of mine for his 40th birthday and it was just so playable i didn't want to give it to him !
20. special ? should be called 'porn shop', it's that f**ked up.
21. the daley you're hearing is called the latency. the software playthru is a software monitor - your computer processes the sound and then plays it back. this can take some time, depending on your fast your machine is. that delay is the audio latency. the easiest way to get round that is to use hardware monitoring, which is what you're achieving with the vox unit, i think i take it chic's being played from your pc ?
22. martin came to mine yesterday to buy my epi thunderbird pro. lovely chap, had a good old chinwag whilst he tried the bass, a proper gent. if you have occasion to deal with him, do so with confidence.
23. and on hold for itsat34
24. i was clearing outs some paperwork the other day and came across the receipt for my sabre signed by the man himself. 1997...blimey. still going strong...and so's the bass
