1. I thought this thread was about a new national holiday or something
  2. It's disappointing, but hang fire - there may be a good reason, and open the dispute when you can,
  3.
You can get new catches from Allparts (http://www.allparts....-and-case-parts) or just google for other suppliers. These can be installed with a pop-rivet gun (£3.45 from ebay - http://www.ebay.co.u...=item58aa4d2bfa) or just bolted on.
Yep, pretty much what I'd be thinking of
  4. I'd say Jack Bruce, but that's more down to my preference in terms of the music andbands he was involved with. Jaco or Jack Bruce, you're not going to run out of things to say in 1500 words, in fact I'd say you'll have trouble keeping it under that, but that may indeed be part of the exercise !
  5. Isn't this topic thoroughly done to death now ? If you want to share gear, then do...if you don't, don't, but how about refraining from slagging off people with the opposing view ? It's childish and nobody's mind get changed.
  6.
The annoying thing is she is everywhere. I've done quite well in only having heard a cover of one of her songs by some pop/ metal band a few weeks ago.
I've never heard anything by her.....until just now when I listened to 'Style' But then I'm not really her target market. Oh, hang on....I think I've missed the boat on this thread haven't I ?
  7.
I guess that if ever there was a place to find that out, it's eBay...

To me? No. To some people? Probably not. To a collector? Er, maybe.
That's about the size of it.
  8.
They are rare though.
Niiiiice - thanks for the info. Always baffles me why a bass with a Precision pickup can be described as a Jazz bass, but there you go
  9.
I could live with it under these circumstances. Your position is slightly different - the Gibby must have been expensive.
I'm of a similar opinion - you've paid a lot for a new bass, it should arrive in perfect condition.
  10.
That really is excellent advice.
Indeed - Mr. Devine is required viewing IMHO.
  11. Strapping the head to the cab with some bungee cords ?
  12.
Ah, big colourful pics eh, you're just hogging the limelight now
13.
Or the driver borrowed it to practice his chops...?
Through a... ...?
  14.
Roll off the tone, play very, very cleanly, maybe with a pick, being very consistent with your picking velocity. Then you could add some modulation and dirt etc after to shape the sound of the "keyboard".
Almost exactly what I was going to say ! Roll off some of the tone and play with some deep slow chorus - it adds a synthetic feel to the sound that makes it quite synthy. You could also try some fuzz, but again, turn the treble down. A fuzz pretty much turns your bass into a square wave synth.
  15.
Parcel Monkey will take large heavy cabs, but they might also lose it. They lost my Mesa 1516, a cab the size of a small principality, for 6 weeks and then found it in a van in Ipswich. On delivery, the driver first handed me the empty box and then proceeded to drop the cab whilst trying to get it out of his van. The box was completely trashed, the cab - which became known as Keef on account of its indestuctability - survived the drop and didn't have a mark in it. It was however covered in thick brown dust and smelled of pigs, which knowing the previous owner was not how it had started out its journey. If only cabs could talk, what a story it might be able to tell.
Must have been stored next to an Ampig
  16. Light the blue touchpaper and retire to a safe distance. Keep pets indoors.
  17. Cracking-looking bass...Squier really put together some excellent instruments these days What mods were you thinking of ?
  18. I think I'm going to try the alternative set of valves the seller included - they're EHX 12ax7 'Gold' - see what difference that makes, just out of curiosity,
  19.
Currently doing a week run of 'Oliver' with a Bernard Edwards tone!
Consider yourself.....well in !
  20.
Pretty much all the LP's are great fun to jam along with from start to finish
Absolutely, bass aside (and I'm by no means knocking Sting - he's superb) - Stewart Copeland's amazing to listen to as well.
  21. Arrived today, all the way from Italy, and in fantastic condition. Can't seem to get a decent pic of it, so I've attached the one the chap I bought it from used. Took a bit of fiddling to adjust the passive tone stack to my tastes, getting there slowly, but it sounds very warm and heavy...niiiice. I bought it to replace my Ampeg SVP-Pro which is just too fragile to gig these days (in fact Mrs. Pook said she was pleased I'd not bought another SVP as "They just keep breaking don't they ? - You've had two dodgy ones now....Trace Elliot are much more reliable." I love my wife ) Made in Essex...just like me
Also, it seems the Big Bottom is still very much part of the rig, but it broke in Austria! :-/
Goodnight Vienna ! (Sorry, couldn't help myself !)
  23.
+1 just for celebrate. I would play that just to cheer up everyone in the shop!
/coughGothcough/

Russian Circles are one of the best live bands I've seen in recent years - superb sound at both the gigs I went to. Cracking bass player, and he gets some monstrous sounds.
