1.
hows the little fender doing?
Fantastic! Now get out there gigging, so's I can come along a buy you a pint
  2.
In other news, I've got an audition to be in a rock 3 piece on Sunday
I've been checking your website for gigs Ali - this thread explains things. Hope Sunday goes well mate.
  3.
I did once leave my bass behind at a gig.
Yup - I've done that And recently I've got into the habit of leaving instrument stands behind...
  4.
I just looked at some of the YOUTUBE demos on the MS60-B. ---x--- This, BTW is not what I would consider a traditional Multi Effects unit, it's more like a pedal as far as I am
It's a multi-fx, but in a pedal-sized box. A lot of folks are initially put off using this type of unit when they hear the presets, IME. They mainly seem designed to showcase the most extreme capabilities of the various effects, rather than to be usable. But once you go beyond that, and tweak the various parameters to suit your own sound goals - just like you would with individual pedals - the results can be very good indeed. I've used a Zoom B9 gigging for a few years now, and more recently a B3, neither of which are just bedroom toys IMO.
  5.
It's not a BB1024 - it would also have blades on the P pickup, not individual pole pieces,
Can't see too well on my phone, but the nut and string tree look wrong for a BB1024 too.
  6.
Another shout for the B3. Just treat it as 3 separate pedals, each one has 3 knows to control the parameters. Press up and down on Any of the three pedals to choose your effect. I actually don't think it could get easier!
My thoughts exactly.
  7. The only dealings I've had with them was when I bought an own-brand cheapo 12 string acoustic from them a while back. No problems at all. I'd buy from them again. (The neck's a bit on the chunky side, but overall it's surprisingly good for the money)
  8. I use Rotosounds on mine 'cause I like 'em. I find them too zingy at first, but that goes away very quickly (which is why some don't like them...) after which ISTM that they stay where I like them for ages - certainly months, rather than weeks, for me. I normally only change them when the intonation starts to get iffy.
  9.
I'm an always up full kind of guy too. I do wonder though if anyone uses their volume knob to clean up a driven valve amp sound, as I believe our guitarist cousins are wont to do?
I used to do that when I used an old Carlsbro head. Just a master volume knob - no input gain control, and my Westone Thunder with the volume right up would sound overdriven. Back the volume off a bit, so it stayed clean normally. Dig in a bit for a nice bit of grind.
  10.
It's a real shame Ashdown have to come on here defending themselves like this, especially from ignorant comments about frequency response.
Well said, that man.

    -

I picked up a BB1024 a few months back, and nothing else has been played since. I'm seriously considering shifting everything else, and just getting another BB.
  12.
Thanks Ian so I can put the lead to the second cab in input or link and I wont fry anything then ?
Yup. Electrically, they're normally parallel connections, both connected together. Unless they're unusual cabs, the only difference twixt the two (input & link) is how they're labelled.
  13. Either: Amp -> cab1 -> cab2 Or, if the amp has 2 outputs you could go Amp1 -> cab1 Amp2 -> cab2 Either way, the load presented to the amp is the same.
  14. FWIW I really like the pickups in my Classic J. I do find the output a bit on the low side though, the J bridge PUP especially so. After a few emails back and forth with Alun Entwistle - who makes the stock PUPs, albeit to Overwater spec - I went for his standard JBX bridge PUP, just to try to equalise the relative outputs really, rather than to change the tone, and I'm really pleased with it. A touch brighter sounding than the stock one, but still has most of the smoothness that I liked and the output's a bit stronger so it's much more usable blended with the P PUP. And all for the princely sum of a tenner I've not tried the JBXN (I don't think it was available at the time I was looking) but reports are very good.
  15. FWIW my experience with Yamaha's EMX powered mixers has been great. Sound good, great VFM, reliable.
  16.
PMT in Norwich were very helpful. Let me try a bass in a small room, great TC combo to play through. No pressure to purchase, told them I was only window shopping. Went back a couple of weeks later, bass was sold. The Ibanez lined fretless is no longer in production but they found one in another of their stores and had it sent down. Wouldn't let me take it away until they'd checked it over. Excellent service, recommended.
Beat me to it Mark. I tried a G&L at PMT in Norwich a while back. I didn't buy it (although I wanted to, before I played it...) but not because of the attitude of the staff there. They couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. And I've found the guys at PMT Cambridge OK as well. Shame they don't often have anything much in stock that interests me...
  17. I don't need to tune my bass - the shop did it for me when I bought it
  18.
It was happening for a while, but our singer finally got pushed out/quit today, which although it causes pain finding a new one, he was over-committed on other stuff and could not devote the time required. So - I need a classic and modern rock singer and I've run out of people I know or would do anything with in a band. Male or female, no preference, but what is the best way: Joinmyband Basschat (I cannot see a bass forum being the way to go!) Gumtree ad in local music shop What would you recommend.....?
All of 'em. And also any local musician oriented groups on Facebook.
  19. You're not alone. I rarely bother going to big, name gigs these days, as the sound (overall - not just bass) generally has me thinking "WTF..."
  20.
But why a bolt-on neck when all the other Overwater Tanglewoods are thru-neck?
They're not. The Classic J, for example, is bolt-on too.

    Whizzzy

Bought some lights from Colin, in a super easy transaction. Cheers matey
  22.
Julien bought a pair of lights from me. Drove up as promised and paid upfront. Had a good old bass related chinwag. Great guy to deal with, highly recommended and I can only echo the comments made in previous posts.
...and while he was there he also collected some lights that I'd bought from Whizzzy, and transported 'em back here. Cheers fella - much appreciated.
  23. There's one in the for sale section here
