2. What a ball ache. Easy to see why he had 4 crap music shops instead of 1 successful one.
3.
I think five strings are better. Except when a four string is better.
Some days you only need 2.... but it's nice to have a few more just in case.
4.
I play in a covers band and this was the initial spur for me to play 5 string (transposed song keys and a number of songs that needed D or lower). However a blast of GAS for another ACG meant I have now started playing a 4 string again and whilst I have put a D tuner on to cope with some of the songs I am really enjoying it...
4 and a D tuner is fine for me too. Played 5 strings in a heavy band because that was the sound but then left the band and only play 5 for poops and sniggers at home now.
5. I'm getting a backlog of jobs all waiting for paint/lacquer. I tried a test spray out in the workshop this weekend with bad results. I took the paint out with me an hour or so before spraying while I did some prep and despite have some partial heating in there (it does little more than take the chill off) the cold did something bad to it - it produced a patchy crackle effect. It's ok Matt it wasn't your bass (it wasn't even nitro) . I'm going to have another pop at it today but I'm going to try warming the paint slightly first (it's been in the airing cupboard all night) and also have the paint spend as little time in sub zero as possible. Fingers crossed.
6.
Love that bass. Good luck with the sale. Dunno where you're expecting to post it at £90, tho'
That must be ebay's calculation to ship it to Ireland - it's showing up as £30 in mine (which I presume includes insurance).
7. Buy this bass and it will help you forget how Friesian it is outside. It will cream the competition. Am I milking it now?
8.
Too late now the Ray 5 has landed!
I know but did you see how much he's asking for it?
9. Love that bass.
I don't see why this thread would leave anyone 'uncomfortable'?! A problem arrose, the seller asked 'how the buyer wanted to proceed', I assume a refund would have been an option, buyer accepted the bass as a repair/restore job......sorted Case closed Si
My bad. Apologies to everyone especially Rasta. I didn't read the bit at the bottom of his post asking 'how the buyer wanted to proceed". (if you miss that bit out it the rest reads totally differently ) Being the sort of guy that strips a bass as soon as he gets his grubby mitts on it I forget that some peeps aren't as exploratory. I guess I got to the bit where he said he'd never taken the p/g off and flew off on one.
13. Seems a bit hefty for a Wishbass at first but once you factor in all the extra work it makes perfect sense. Got any sound clips?
14.
You've just won Bully's special prize.
Yay! I'm so glad it wasn't the speedboat.

Sold.

I feel a little uncomfortable about how this has ended up. There is a lot of rallying around the seller (who seems to have sold it in good faith) but very little support for the the buyer, who let's face it has been landed with a bass that should he eventually decide to sell it on will undoubtedly have to take a hit on what he's paid once he discloses the damage and subsequent repair (if it is as bad as he says). As a casual bystander, I clearly have no idea of what if anything is going on behind the scenes but if it were me on either side of this situation I'd envisage a different outcome to what appears to have gone down here.... in fact if it were me, I don't even think I would accept the bass (that's easy for me to say not having to cope with the logistics of a making a return at this time of the year and the extra cost involve). Ok the bass was sold as non original but all the disclosed "mods" were easily reversible, this is obviously a bigger deal. I think our community goes beyond the "you pays your money and takes your choice" attitude but that's kind of how it looks in this instance.
16. My fiver has 4 banger sized pups. It currently has awesome Bill Lawrence J45s prior to that it has had Barts and a breif encounter with some surprisingly ok Hohner Jack EMGs.
17. Yummy Yumerson. Looking forward to having a wee plonk on this in Febs. edit : will you be taking the Purple Chili with you too Mike?
18. Wow pot kettle black. They all deserve a slap for getting up and playing that pish in the first place.
19.
Nice. Why is it in B&W, I wonder?
Coz it's grim oop north.
20. I can see why onearmedbandit plays "chin bass" but what's MK's excuse?
21.
...Ou7shined and Liam The Squier is tempting and it will be first to be tried if we end up at guitar guitar in Birmingham, As far as a present for the wife her favourite thing is money in the bank to look at! Hence leaving it in there and going 0%, best of both worlds!....
Haha mine's the same. Hope you get to try the Squier also having only played the 4 banger I'd love to know what you think of the L-2500.
22. Duh it's a Zulkefjhjhjhjhgj.
23. It seems you've answered your own question. Though why someone would put nitro over a previous finish without removing it first is beyond me.
