Off topic, but quite a lot of FOH engineers now on large tours will mix in stereo. An example would be if the singer points to the brass section for a solo section, it makes sense to the audience that the sound should come from that side of the stage. It's never hard panned, but the stereo field is utilised often.

I love mine, it's a great vibe and look for acoustic/jazz gigs. I have La Bella 760FS on mine and they are fantastic, although I have considered a slightly lighter gauge (760FL perhaps). The tone is beaut!

Remember it well! Welcome to BC

Very sad news indeed. Another good guy gone.

any jazz bass pickups with adjustable pole pieces?
acidbass replied to shoulderpet's topic in Accessories and Misc
Have you seen the new Di Marzio Relentless J pickups? They have adjustable pole pieces: https://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/standard-bass/relentless-j-pair -
All strung top load only. I'm never convinced about the break angle for the thru body stringing!

Love this! I have a thing for post 2010 white US Fenders (with the US****** serial numbers) - they are just immense! I have five of them! My P's are strung with La Bella 760FS and they just bark.

I love stereo IEMs. The separation between instruments is so much better, I don't have the beltpack as loud as a result and everything sounds clearer in the mix. Typically, I pan drums to the right, all other band members to the left and have myself in the middle of the stereo field.

Bought quite a few guitars from mainland UK and had them sent here with absolutely no issues. Courier booked in the normal way with no additional forms or paperwork at all.

I'll weigh in with the fantastic Fontaines DC:

Agreed. There's a difference in x-over frequency too between the *35 and *45 speakers. The latter sends a lot more to the horn which makes the woofer more efficient for bass and kick drum (although I would still always hi-pass both)

Is the sound there when the bass isn't plugged in - i.e. can it be heard acoustically?

D'Addario XT coated vs D'Addario NYXL on a P bass
acidbass replied to musicbassman's topic in Accessories and Misc
I went from DR Lo Rider nickels to NYXLs as my round of choice. They sound great! I use them on both P and J Fenders. -
Anything by Black Sabbath or Ghost 🤘

I use a pair of RCF 745A as our band PA - I generally high pass the bass and drums a bit, but no issues handling a full band including mic'd kit and two mic'd guitar amps for small to medium bar gigs (100 - 200 people)

The bridge on the Elites is also superior, offering 3/4 slots per string to get the alignment over the pickups correct. The Ultra has that new big block Fender bridge which doesn't have the same option.
-
Glad you like it. A brilliant band, real post-punk/shoegaze vibes. Smashed all the major festivals in the summer past. Going to see them live on 7 Dec and can't wait!

They were replaced with the inferior (IMO) Ultra series.

La Bella Deep Talkin 45-105 are definitely a higher tension than equivalent gauge rounds - not by much, but it's noticeable. Not every manufacturer releases tension measurements either. There's a bit of trial and error involved I find.

'66 Slab Precision...Anyone seen one/got one?
acidbass replied to Rick's Fine '52's topic in Bass Guitars
https://reverb.com/uk/item/59888133-fender-precision-bass-rare-slab-body-john-entwistle-1966-white Wow. Wow. Wow. -
I use both the Beta 58A and the E945 live (both with minimal processing) and for vocals in my higher register, I think the E945 sounds better.
