  1. Offers and trade propositions posted in 'For Sale' ads are systematically deleted. They are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
  2. It might be a good idea to give your location; there may be a BCer local to you who could give some 'hand's on' tips, either at your place or his..? Setting up a bass is not that difficult (assuming it not to be busted or really bad quality...), but best to have the instrument present, and someone competent to show how it's done. Worth a try, maybe..?
  3. My main bass, a Hofner Verithin, an OLP 4-string baritone guitar/bass, our youngest's 5-string Cort and my Douglas 6-string fretless. A whole load of guitars, drums, keys and other stuff, but the poll says 'Bass types', so...
  4. [quote name='lowdown' timestamp='1506712417' post='3380667'] Oh no !! He's only gone and messed it up. EDIT: Sorry Dad, I typed, then the phone rang at about 8:05. I came back and posted, and you had already got in with your groveling. [/quote] No, no; go ahead. [i]Mea culpa[/i], as they say in Rome. Me..? Sackcloth and ashes, I'm afraid. S'not the first time I've shot myself in the foot, and probably not the last, either. 'Once a dumpling, always a dumpling'; that's what. Edit: You [i]have [/i]voted now, I trust..?
  5. [quote name='lurksalot' timestamp='1506708929' post='3380624'] I think your enthusiasm commendable my friend , but does the French calendar need another day adding in September to bring it in line with the UK version . [/quote] Indeed it does. Jumping the gun, eh..? Yes, it's Saturday midnight, not tonight..! OK, folks, a whole day left to do the deed..! Don't waste it. (Cheers, Lurks; I nearly got myself pasted up as a right fool there, didn't I..? Luckily no-one has noticed, eh..? )
  6. [quote name='lowdown' timestamp='1506708954' post='3380627'] I remember a few years back, asking you the question. I thought it was because you had three Gibsons.. [/quote] Well guessed, although I'm only rich enough (or poor enough..?) to have a Samick 335. She plays and sounds better than many 'real' 335's I've come across, so not fussed. (... and thanks for giving me the meagre excuse I needed to go and fetch her out of hiding; I'll be playing her by the time you read this, I expect... ) Edit: It becomes immediately obvious that I've neglected her for far too long, as, despite still being in tune, the old Fender Bullets are quite rusty; more so, even, than my old fingers..! I'll give her a good ol' clean (pots, switches...) and treat her to a fresh set of Elixirs. That'll sort her out for a few years yet..! Still plays like a corker, though, despite the rust..!
  7. [quote name='Cato' timestamp='1506702032' post='3380555'] Disappointing people [b]are[/b] my superpower. [/quote] Fixed ...
  8. Good afternoon, folks... Once again, due to the high quality of the entries this month, we're heading towards a tie for winner. It's been done before (and we can handle it...), but there is still time to give the tracks a listen and [b][i]vote for three[/i][/b] (That's right, [i][color=#ff0000][b]three..![/b][/color][/i]) that you particularly liked. We may yet produce an outright winner; it's down to you (Yes, you out there. No point looking over your shoulder...). The link is here; it's a s easy as following it and giving 'em a listen. Enjoy..! 9. [quote name='Jezzer1' timestamp='1506679947' post='3380348'] Yes, haven't quite figured out how to post pictures yet... [/quote] How to post pics ... Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as Flickr, Imgur or Imgbb is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Others are similar (assuming use of a PC; I no nothing of other devices...). Hope this helps...
  10. Dad: pretty much self-explanatory 33: Country code for France, where I live 53: County code for Mayenne, where I live There were already quite a few 'Dad's of various sorts when I started out on t'web, so this was my 'claim' on uniqueness. S'been going for quite a long time now...

[/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Edit: Voted, of course, both here and for the photo comp. Basschat has many talented folks contributing to these topics, I say. 13. Good evening, Matt, and ... [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167528] Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. A fellow drummer, eh..? Be prepared for some light ribbing from some of the [s]inmates[/s] bass players here.

  15. Whilst we're on the subject, am I allowed a small (well, medium, really...) rant..? Please..? Not too long, I promise, although... Oh, thank you; here I go, then... There are a number of ads for multiple items (which is fine...), where the title contains the word 'Sold' referring to only one or two of the items, not the whole lot..! Result: I'm searching through for 'key' words, and these ads trip every time, but are not really candidates for closure. Could I respectfully suggest that this practice cease immediately..? If the ad is to be kept, how about substituting 'Gone', or 'Bought'; anything except 'Sold'..? Reserve that for signalling the final closure of the whole topic, that it be closed completely. If anyone recognises this in their own ads, I'd be grateful if they could pop along to their ad and amend the title in this way. My 'housekeeping' would be that much simplified (it's already quite an arduous task...). Thanks in advance for bearing this in mind for future posts, and be doubly thanked for going back and 'correcting' any open Sales ads of the sort. Rant over; stand down, men, and carry on.
  16. [quote name='BigRedX' timestamp='1506518480' post='3379296']... IME all the serious stuff is done face-to-face in the 15 minutes [b]or less [/b]at the beginning and end of rehearsals while we are setting up or breaking down the gear and everything else can be done by email and or phone calls depending on how time-sensitive it is. [/quote] This ^^, every time [quote name='bazztard' timestamp='1506523811' post='3379336']...everyone checks their phone at least 4 times a day [/quote] Quite the opposite; email is by far the best way to contact me. My 'phone..? I hardly know where it is, most weeks. Sometimes I charge it up, if I remember.
  17. A very modest affair; despite this, James went the extra mile, posting to France a vintage tuner (no, not the fish, you fool; please keep up..!). Well packed, posted promptly (other delays were due to postal services, out of anyone's control...). Satisfied..? Very much so; a true gent, that bloke. Thanks again, James.

Enjoy (..? )
  19. A short Jack-Speakon adapter cable shouldn't be so difficult to obtain, I'd have thought (nod towards BC's obbm, cable-maker extra-ordinaire...).
  20. Not the best moment for me, for personal reasons, otherwise I'd have arranged a pick-up by a family member in the UK. Ain't it always the way..? ([i]Sigh[/i]... ) Good luck with the sale.
  21. The 'Forums' page of 'Content You Follow'. I'll see immediately if any sections need my attention as a Mod (Amps And Cabs For Sale, EUB And Double Bass, Introductions, Tutors Available...), plus any other that I've flagged for my own attention. I'd navigate and 'trawl' depending on what's visible there from then on.
  22. [quote name='TimR' timestamp='1506432797' post='3378678'] Why don't you flag the posts that bother you? A problem shared... [/quote] Although the Reporting of offensive or out of order posts is encouraged, in this instance it would serve only to increase the number of Reports for little effect, as we (the Mods...) already see, and deal with, posts of the nature complained about here. It's not very visible, I'll grant, but the Reports are no [i]more [/i]visible, so... A nice thought, and if it made any tangible difference would be welcomed, but I doubt its effect on the perpetrators of these heinous deeds. Reporting is, though, by far the best way of bringing stuff to the attention of the Mods and Admins; all Reports are quickly seen and treated diligently.
