Of course it's quite reasonable to expect hits from the '70s and such to be played on bass guitars, in the same way as Schubert is still performed using trombones. However, if the question means 'What's the future of bassists in future music hits..?', I'm not so optimistic. I reckon the bass 'sound' will still be a component, but there'll be less and less 'real' instruments of any kind, except maybe as samples. Bassists will still be around (although aging...), still bemoaning the long-gone heady days of 'slap-fests' and 'heft'. The world will move on, despite such acrimony, and 'Any good for metal' will no longer be recognised as a valid, grammatical phrase. 'Wodja mean, metal, innit..?' will be the future response, coupled with scratching the top of the head.

[quote name='lowdown' timestamp='1507902451' post='3388701'] In post # 2, although no F sharp is written on the clef to indicate the key is 'G', it is indeed 'G'. (same as record). In post #11 it has two flats, but should be one. Tone down from above. But I think you know that and are just testing us all out, you crafty senior, so & so... [/quote] 'Fraid not. I was just trusting that if there was no other indication, t'would be in 'C'..! Dumb or what..? I did look it up (I don't know the piece...), and all I saw was in 'C', too, so maybe I'm not the only dunce. Whatever; the second post is the first (in 'G', if you say so, but missing the sharp in the key signature...), but down a tone. Ignore the extra flat in the key signature (play just the Bb one...) and it'll be fine, no..? Edit: There, at least, is one advantage of Tab; it's correct, whatever the key signature booboo..!

Some people are born miserable, some people attain misery; some have misery thrust upon them. -
[quote name='casapete' timestamp='1507887750' post='3388529'] The part in post #11 looks like it’s in B flat but is actually in F?! [/quote] What key is the part in post #2..? It's supposed to be in 'C'. The post #11 version is a tone below that. If any other key is required, it's a matter of minutes for me to change it. Just say how much higher/lower than the post #2 version.

[quote name='stingrayPete1977' timestamp='1507838175' post='3388341'] I can change a Morris minor head gasket with my eyes closed, computer stuff well that's a different matter! [/quote] Concentrate, lad..! Now is not the time for playing with your little cars. Put that gasket down and sit at the desk ... No, not that desk; the one with the computer screen. That's better... and stop sulking; it doesn't become you. Now, send me a PM with your postal address and I'll get these sheets printed up in A4 and send 'em across. ... I said stop sulking..! It's not always [i]entirely [/i]your fault, and I've not scolded you, yet. A smile, please..? No, I mean a [i]real [/i]smile, not a 'Just William' grimace. That's better. Now, off you go and play with your little friends... And George..? [i]Don't[/i] do that..!

[quote name='stingrayPete1977' timestamp='1507836789' post='3388332'] I can't work out how to get at it! [/quote] Is your computer plugged into a wall socket and switched on..? Right-click on the document link Select 'Save linked content as...' Save to local disk, using one of the names suggested, as a 'pdf' file. Failing any of the above, take up knitting, and ask on Mumsnet if anyone has the pattern for [insert favourite cardigan here...] Hope this helps.

[quote name='Left Foot' timestamp='1507818614' post='3388188'] YAWN! I've tried to post pictures for John but there is something up here. I know how to post pictures but constantly getting the error message that the code is not allowed on the forum, even tried Dad's way. [quote name='Steve Browning' timestamp='1507806669' post='3388064'] Strange how tastes can differ so much but this is the biggest waste of vinyl that there ever was. I am bored after the first 10 seconds... [/quote] So, not a great lover of Beethoven either, then..? It's true, it's not 'instant gratification' listening, and, indeed, doesn't appeal to all. I wouldn't listen to it either as a loop tape on a desert island, but it does have its moments, and there are 'right times' for listening to such stuff. Wagner's 'Ring' drones on for fifteen hours or so ... -

Sounds fine to me. That's 'fine' in the sense of 'no bum notes, and within the key of the piece'; I had to skip over the verses, as it's unbelievably 'cheesy'. I won't be listening through it again any time soon, and wonder how anyone could leave the studio thinking 'OK, lads, that's done; it's nailed.' I'm glad I wasn't invited to do the drum part.

[quote name='AnalogBomb' timestamp='1507406956' post='3385337']...As always, I can't seem to post pics... [/quote] Good evening, AB... If your BC picture quota is all used up, here's a way of recovering space... [color=#800080]Go to your 'My Profile' (your pseudo, top right...).[/color] [color=#800080]Select 'Edit my Profile' (black button a bit below...).[/color] [color=#800080]Select 'Manage Attachments' (in the list on the left...).[/color] [color=#800080]They are listed in date order. Navigate to oldest, select those to be deleted (tick boxes on the right...).[/color] [color=#800080]Select 'Delete Selected' (grey button at bottom right of list...).[/color] [color=#800080]Repeat, page by page, until all unwanted attachments are deleted.[/color] Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as Flickr, Imgur or Imgbb is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Others are similar (assuming use of a PC; I know nothing of other devices...). Hope this helps...

It's not so much the 'slap' that's painful to listen to (to me...); it's more the 'mainstream', amply illustrated by the clip above ^^..!
