Total Watts

  1. I rented a Rumble 40 along with a Squier 40th anniversary jazz bass last year. I'm only a beginner but thought it sounded really good. The price seems decent too for a used one.
  2. So in a few months we'll get them popping up on Ebay as "Rare" at ridiculously high prices 😂
  3. Well you first played it on Valentines Day so not sure whether to believe you…
  4. Seems about right for me. I only discovered Dylan LeBlanc in October and have been listening to him absolutely loads. Would recommend him to anybody that enjoys easy going Alt-Country/Folk. People comment that he reminds them of 70's Neil Young... though I never listened to that so wouldn't know.
  5. So do you have to turn off your fridge, internet router etc too?
  6. So I'm thinking of ordering the Rotosound Swing Bass RS66LN 45-100 Nickel, is that a good starting point? https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/collections/winter-sale-strings-sets/products/rotosound-swing-bass-rs66ln-bass-strings-45-100-nickel Also I want to try some Flatwounds and was thinking of these: https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/collections/winter-sale-strings-sets/products/rotosound-jazz-bass-rs77le-flatwound-bass-strings-50-110-monel
  7. Thanks for all the responses and advice. I'm going to keep these on for now but will also order up a new set of Rounds and Flats just to see what differences there are 🙂
  8. Hey all, I have a Yamaha BB604 that I bought used during lockdown and have just started to play now (total beginner at bass but can play a little guitar). The strings seem to be in good condition but I've noticed that 3 of them have the silk wrap whereas the E doesn't... I'm guessing that the E is from a different set but does this mean that the 3 with wraps are Flatwounds and maybe the E isn't? Why would the previous owner have done this? Should I consider purchasing a new set of strings or just make do with these as they are? The strings sound fine to me through an amp, not dead or flat as far as my ear can tell. They're not tarnished at all. The only thing with the E is that it's quite thick so I don't know if it's a different gauge than what would've come with the others initially, and depending on the amp/bass knob settings I often get the "clipping/cut off" sound when playing that particular string. I have to dial back the "bass" setting to avoid this. What are your thoughts?
  9. How are these compared to the 40th anniversary Squiers? Still kicking myself for not picking one up when they were £259 at Thomann.
  10. My Dad listens to this song all the time... every time I hear it I think "C'mon man... again?"
  11. £15 is a bargain! I had an F310 years ago which I bought for £50 second hand. Couldn't get on with it though so sold it on shortly after. Washburn are another under-rated manufacturer that do some nice acoustics if the need arises in the future.
  12. Def Leppard's Pyromania came out in 1983, so he's automatically wrong.
  13. Can I suggest you add Turmeric to your daily diet and see if that helps at all whilst waiting for any NHS treatment? It's known to have anti-inflammatory properties and is an anti-oxidant. If you do a bit of googling you'll see it's a popular natural supplement to help those that suffer from arthritis/joint problems. I know firsthand of some elderly folk that use it with positive effects. You can either get the natural powder stuff and add it to dishes/make turmeric tea, or just buy capsules from health shops/Amazon. Just be aware that it also acts as a natural blood thinner so not recommended if you're taking any medication for that.
  14. Welcome! I just started playing in January and my first bass is also a Yamaha TRBX174. Lovely instrument for the money (picked mine up second hand).
  15. Awesome, thanks for sharing! I wish there was something like this for the piano too.
