  1. I'm just joshin' you, lad. You wouldn't like to cart our Hiwatt stuff around, whatever volume you play at..!
  2. [quote name='ambient' timestamp='1506887092' post='3381835'] Beginner? I think you'd hate my Phil Jones combo. [/quote] [size=2] [/size][size=2]Not everyone plays at as low volume as you prefer. [/size]
  3. [quote name='Mudpup' timestamp='1506884380' post='3381802'] We had an amazing gig in a pub/hotel in Chertsey last night... [/quote]

  7. [quote name='Mornats' timestamp='1506881762' post='3381762'] Another month without my Doom array!... [/quote] We'll see just how long it can be kept up, this trend of posting 'anti-Doom' pics..! Maybe till Christmas, with a bit o'luck..!
  8. Fair enough; a bit of 'swing', maybe..? Thinking caps on...
  9. OK. Sorry you're having problems, but I've nothing more to suggest. I've not come across this before; maybe tomorrow I'll be the one unable to post..! I'll see what the other Mods have to say. Anyone else having difficulties..?
  10. BC: How to post pics ... Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as Flickr, Imgur or Imgbb is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Others are similar (assuming use of a PC; I no nothing of other devices...). Hope this helps...
  11. [quote name='Rick's Fine '52' timestamp='1506875721' post='3381698']...[color=#FF0000]and now basschat don't support using imgur, or thats what the notification says when you try and use it now, so i give up, make it easier to use guys!!)...[/color] [/quote] Posted from Imgur... ...and another, just in case it was a fluke... ... or even ... Works for me...
  12. Me. My now grown-up children throw things at me, and it hurts.
  13. Good afternoon, Graham, and ... [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167528] Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  14. Perhaps 'drop in protection' was not the right phrase. Given the relatively low levels envisaged, maybe 'drop in attenuation' would have been more appropriate. Still protected, but able to hear what's going on. After all, in a room with just quiet conversation, -20db earplugs would not be suitable, despite them 'protecting' one's hearing. Just sayin'.

  17. [quote name='Bilbo' timestamp='1506839965' post='3381374'] Go me. October picture selected. Shall I send it to you, Dad, or to Paul? [/quote] Officially, it's Paul running the show, and I wouldn't want to cross swords with such a figure, so Paul it is, please. On another note, I'm surprised that no-one seems to have picked up on my joke (too carefully hidden, I suppose...), in using (and abusing..!) the theme from Doom (ring a bell with anyone..?) as base (and bass..!) for my track..! No gamers here, then..? No mis-spent, lost youth..? No..? Oh well; I thought it funny, s'all.
  18. [left][size=4][color="#222222"][font="Arial, sans-serif"][size=4]And the winner is... Bilbo..! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167486] Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ...[/size][/font][/color] [attachment=254693:BC_Chal_Cert_2017_09.pdf] [color="#222222"][font="Arial, sans-serif"][size=4]... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)… [/size][/font][/color][/size][/left]

  20. [quote name='cheddatom' timestamp='1506778801' post='3381072'] It's not really about expectations. Sometimes I know for sure it's going to be a great gig, but I'm still not in the right mood to play If I'm not in the mood I have to really try hard to concentrate and focus, I get annoyed by the slightest mistakes, I get too tense which can hurt physically etc. If I'm in the mood then everything is just easy, and even if I'm making small mistakes, they're just fleeting insignificant moments I'm mainly gigging on drums by the way, can't remember if I got this on bass [/quote] I'm a drummer. After several years of 'pro' playing, I asked a friend, a drum teacher, if he could give me lessons. When we got down to it, and after auditioning my playing, he told me he didn't see much point in going over technical aspects, but instead set up a programme of breathing and relaxation/posture sessions instead. The difference astounded me; after a few weeks, I was much more able to get 'into the zone', simply by going through some elementary routines, not dissimilar to yoga, but without the meditation stuff. I should perhaps say that, from birth, I have had duff breathing (early tuberculosis...) and stamina issues (duff adrenal glands...), and these 'lessons' enabled me to make the most of what limited capacities I had in these matters. I'd suggest, therefore, seeing if there's something other than technique that you could look for in a good drum teacher, focusing on relaxation and posture rather than rudiments. Any mileage in such an approach..? Hope this helps.
  21. Good morning, Ben... I'm not familiar with that particular manufacturer, but I'd guess that it's a student sax, very probably Chinese-made. This is not necessarily a bad thing; they make some very good beginner's saxes. The starting price for these models, new, would be around £250-£300, so, if yours is of this ilk, its second-hand price would be less, maybe as much as half of that. This is only rule-of-thumb, of course, as I've not seen the instrument in question. If you decide to keep it, I would highly recommend finding a good sax tutor, as it's an instrument which beggars very little improvisation in its techniques, and a good teacher from the outset is vital for decent results. The disciplines involved are, however, very rewarding, if the initial effort is put in. Hope this helps; subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others.
  22. [quote name='ThePapabull' timestamp='1506732807' post='3380805'] Thanks tro all ps Im [b]in newport s wales[/b] [/quote][quote name='Bolo' timestamp='1506761870' post='3380913'] Look for a [b]BC member[/b], or a luthier near you [b]who can help with a proper set-up[/b]. [/quote] Any kind gent (or lady...) able to help..? There are also many bass tutors in the '[url="http://basschat.co.uk/forum/26-tutors-available/"]Tutors Available[/url]' section from Swansea, Bristol or South Wales in general. Maybe worth contacting one of them for advice..?
  23. Gator GRB range..? £36 from Thomann.UK, or Millenium from same, £30. If you don't want to mount it, just don't screw the head in, maybe..? It can then be slid in or out at will. Hope this helps.
