  1. I did. Provocative may have been a better word, but controversial fits as well. This is also not a condemnation. Hip hop and rap have roots in struggle.
  2. I made the mistake of trading in the 610 on a PR410. Still kick myself for doing that, and by the time I was able to rectify the mistake I was completely over carrying 100+ pound single cabs. Did manage to sell the 4pro for what I bought it for 10 years later, so at least that part worked out. Still miss that cab, though I'd probably go for the Berg NV610 today.
  3. Nice! Used to run a 4pro with a 610hlf as well. Monsterous rig!
  4. This was the day I brought her home!
  5. My two monsters: Fender Super Bassman 300 + 2x Orange OBC115, Mesa Boogie D800+ + 2x Bergantino NV115
  6. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! @SpondonBassed haven’t met Mr Warning yet. I would imagine that the wedding is taking up a ton of cycle time - not sure if I’d consider this side lucky regarding news though. At least not with the current crop of muppets we have making policy and the division of reporting on it. Sir Patrick on ST:TNG sounds reasonable enough, though I wish they’d branch out a bit more. Had a nice run of Top Gear a while back, but it isn’t exactly a gateway for cultural import when they play American shows.
  7. Oh, and just finished Black Mirror, really looking forward to season 4 of that.
  8. Was lured out by the rap thread, so I figured I'd make an official introduction. Have been playing off and on for the better part of two decades, mostly guitar, bass and vocals. Stuck with bass for most of it, and have done a few stints playing in bands of varying levels of (mostly low) success. Have a pretty hefty arsenal of bass gear: MIA Jazz, Stingray 4H, G&L SB-1, Peavey Foundation, MIM Jazz Deluxe 5, Mesa D800+ through a pair of Bergantino NV115s, Fender Super Bassman through a pair of Orange OBC115s. Predominantly play heavier styles, and have recently re-embraced the pick. Also have a fair amount of studio gear, and will be starting proper guitar lessons after the new year. Not good at fighting GAS, as indicated by recently picking up a Marshall 1960 stack for a song, which has rekindled the urge to practice the skinny strings. I'm also convinced that my pedals are breeding when I'm not looking. Follow F1 and MotoGP fairly religiously, and am making an effort to start watching EPL and rugby - willing to take any pointers for either of those (asking for a friend). Aside from that, looking forward to the Grand Tour starting back up and I'm hoping someone can explain why BBCA in 'murka seems to only play Star Trek: the Next Generation on loop. Cheers!
  9. Beastie Boys are there unsung heroes of hip hop IMO. When you have Miles Davis calling Paul’s Boutique one of the greatest albums of all times it’s worth a listen. Not sure what to make of all the mumble rap lately though. It definitely smacks of uninspired, but I also leveled the same criticism at most of the Bad Boys stuff (Puffy, Mase, etc).
  10. This one dragged me out of lurking from across the pond. Beastie Boys should be on the top of this list for versatility. Could easily do a semester class at uni for them alone. Early 90s San Francisco / Oakland / Bay Area had a lot of really good stuff with the Hieroglyphics Crew: Casual, Del the Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischief. East vs West Gangsta era is pretty much Tupac vs Biggie Smalls (both did some amazing work). Nas' Illmatic is probably one of the best hip hop albums of all time. From the dirty South, you have the likes of Outkast and Goodie Mobb (and by extension, Cee Lo Green) The Fugees are seminal (Wyclef Jean, Lauren Hill). Jay-Z, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Black Sheep, Tribe Called Quest, Leaders of the New School, De La Soul, Wu Tang Clan Eminem's song Rap God is nothing short of lyrical fireworks. Lots more that I can't think of offhand.
