  1. My first bass...people later told me it was heavy - I didn't know that. Priced to sell for sure - there are examples on eBay/ Gumtree for at least another hundred quid. I've always said I'd like to find a neck thru 111A with a broken headstock to convert to headless - still waiting to find one.
  2. I shouldn't have looked....
  3. Bears more than a passing resemblance to Spector/ Warwick but it definitely isn't either. Anybody have any ideas?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185035602853?hash=item2b14fb3ba5:g:yBwAAOSwHWBhNiD4
  4. Isn't this taking relicing a bit too far??
  5. Is there a collection for a wreath from BC? Happy to contribute
  6. I'd like to replace the pick up covers for my Yamaha BBG5S - I contacted Yamaha, only available in black. Does anybody know who might make replacement covers?
  7. There's a very nice MM Ray on Gumtree for £999 - bird's eye neck and RW fretboard.

I'm sure somebody must be interested.

That must be the "Erniball" stingray, Mick!

I agree, that neck looks beautiful.  If only I had a spare grand right now!

  8. GuitarWorld : BOSS Waza air bass headphones ... Bassists can choose between three advanced ambience setups: Surround – which places the user in a virtual room for a recording studio experience; Static – which provides natural spatial localization, changing as the user moves their head; and Stage – which delivers the amp sound from a virtual backline behind the player. Looks interesting - but I'll wait for the cost of the tech to come down.
  9. Found these though: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401462184107?hash=item5d7902c8ab:g:3-gAAOSwrmRb7MOe https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124230424161?hash=item1cecb5d661:g:mqwAAOSwjDpe7yBj https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234095226623?hash=item368129aeff:g:OXkAAOSwYOBg9Rkp https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124186360187?hash=item1cea15797b:g:GpEAAOSwf0ted8DA I think it may be possible to get a similar effect by putting your brass parts in vinegar (or any other mild acid).
  10. I haven't seen anything else with this finish unfortunately. They are "inexpensive" and from China....
  11. You could go for these (3) aged machine heads.

    Drop C#

Take a fiver (low B) and put a Capo on the 2nd fret?
  13. You're preaching to the Choir... Spalted Amboyna top is amazing - beautiful figuring. This is one of only two single cut Harlots that Alan built. If it was headless I would never have sold it. Whoever buys this is getting an amazing bass - the JE Pre is up there with the best in the world. I've heard it referred to being as good as Wal and Alembic by a number of previous owners. Not the easiest thing to master but once you've found a tone you're happy with LEAVE IT ALONE!!
  14. IIRC it was commissioned by @GreeneKing. I agree that this may be the prettiest bass that Alan ever built..
  15. I like the top - it would be a shame to lose it under paint. A natural satin finish would be my preference/ recommendation. Have you thought about "aged/ relic" hardware? There are aged brass tuners on eBay which would suit a natural finish bass. I'd also think about satin finish tuners.
  16. Do you know if that blue BBG5S is the one listed on Gumtree a few weeks ago
  17. Oh WOW!! Nice to see my old bass. This is an AMAZING bass - the pre-amp (filters) gives a huge range of tones - if you can't find the tone you're after, it doesn't exist. Strange that the weight was asked - I never considered this to be a heavy bass, such is the excellent balance - hangs perfectly on a leather 3" strap. This is another of the basses that I was too precious with - loved playing it but always worried that any damage from a drop would result in devaluing it by several hundreds of pounds. Nice to see it's for sale at what I sold it for - CHEAP at the current price. IIRC I sold it in a Hiscox case which it fits with a bit of modification to the padding. GLWTS
  18. Amended...need to check spelling BEFORE pressing "save"
  19. I have Dawn's direct email which I use whenever I contact Status. She generally responds the same day. [email protected]
  20. Sold Gareth a P bass scratchplate I'd bought but didn't use. He paid before it even arrived (I prefer buyers to be happy with items I send without them seeing them). Super correspondence before and after the transaction. Trade with confidence.
  21. I had the fretless version of this.
  22. Don't see these for sale very often - well priced? https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-sb5a-yamaha-samurai-bass-/1413709595
  23. You must be good at hide'n'seek.... I suspect when Mrs @cd_david finds out you've been doing that on her good rugs you're in for a hiding.
  24. Generally the day after you sell it..
  25. Yep...been there... ...and then you realise you don't really need all those you bought because you thought you did. Realistically I use a compressor ( or the built in one on a TE) and a Envelope Filter for phattness. Everything else is superfluous (maybe a Behringer BDI 21).
