    I haven't played a "real " Lakland but I find that the Skyline models punch well above their price point. I also have a Squier Dimension (active single H), the Fender version comes with HH too. Not fancied in the USA which means that there are bargains to be had. Try one before excluding them from your list. I wouldn't exclude Yamahas either.

    It's a bit of an urban myth - you may be able to resurrect them for a few hours playing time but they are essentially dead. More aggro than it's worth - buy a decent set of strings which last.

    Personally I would smooth off the lacquer with varying grades of sandpaper but NOT replace the logo.

    I'd choose the Lakland personally. If I were to go for one of the others it would be a Ray without a scratchplate.

    Isn't Mark a member here? I think that we should give him a chance to reply - when they're not so busy. I've had replies from Mark and Marcus at out of hours times and found them really helpful. I appreciate that not everyone has had this service but I like that at least I still have BD to turn to when I need something. I always say "great service " not "perfect service ".

    With it being so ornate it would be a missed opportunity to just give it a standard-ish stand. Think custom!! Maybe one of those claw hand grips at the top with something equally ornate at the bottom.
