Maybe the fact that it's got castors on the side of the amp, instead of on the bottom, is putting the punters off a bit!
Yes but they are special ones that let you stick it to a wall A
KingBollock, looks like you are spot on! I sent them a message asking, "are you sure?" Reply: "Hi there, thanks for the msg and really sorry about the confusion. We've had some stock problem and will adjust the price back to normal as soon as it's resolved. Many thanks and have a nice evening!"
So did you have a nice evening or not? Cheers Ed Its a bit of a hypothetical question but yes string spacing and extra routing etc would be taken care of. There doesnt seem to be much interest in this sort of thing! No one does it so Im guessing theres little advantage in it. A

Im pondering what this would result in? Specifically Im thinking a 5 string Jazz pickup. Theres no reason why it shouldnt work. Infact its a more logical state since each string will have a pole set either side of it. (correct me if Im wrong) Perhaps a little reduction in output? The only reference of actually doing it is the Ray that Leo made which is supposed to be 'more mellow'. Its not something you see at all as far as I know. The bottom line is - What would the tonal implications be?? Cheers in advance A

Having just started playing on a 5er Ive found its main advantage is you can go across the board instead of going up and down so much which is a shorter distance. The extra 5 notes are an added bonus if needed. A
It's the feel under the fretting hand that's all wrong. I play a 12 string for writing songs, pairs of strings feel much more comfortable to me.
Ditto that :¬) A

Entwistle - Won't Get Fooled Again - Isolated Bass
Difficult to imagine how loud it must have been. Townshend suffered severe hearing loss as a result of gigging, and at one point the Who were listed in the Guinness Book of Records for 'the loudest concert ever' at Charlton Athletic Football Club in 1976 where the volume level was measured at 126db - 32 metres from the stage...
A small point but wasnt Townsends hearing loss primeraly as a result of the infamous Ed Carson Drum kit explosion? And no Neither Moon nor Entwistle were sloppy. They did what they did. In what way on gods green earth can The Who be called sloppy!! Listen to 'Anyway Anyhow' as a prime example. A -

Heres my three bitsa's / heavy modded. They've all been shown before but what the hell. Any excuse Rosie - a Vintage Stringrat copy. Machined off the fingerboard and replaced and machined out an Ebony Board. Veneered scratchplate and headstock. Refinished in black. Not a great success since it was my first ever and probably bit off a bit too much but I learned alot. Bernie - a Sue Ryder pimped to the hilt with walnut burr and gold leaf. Wizard Thumper pickup. Love it even down to the veneered rosewood fingerboard which works perfectly. Annie - a bitsa made from varies bits with Wizard 64's and a birdseye veneer fingerboard. This is my fav bass by far. Absolutely love her. And theres a 5 string in the pipeline hee hee A

I think hes got the wrong end of the stick on this one. Its about putting two fingers up again rather than the success! But hey its his song. Much difference with expensive pickups vs cheaper ones ?
apa replied to gub's topic in General Discussion
My Wizard 64's on my fretless sound just as I want them. Sort of 'standard' but not weak or weedy. The 84's on my VM are a bit 'hotter' (If thats whats called slightly distorted!! dunno). Comparing these to the Duncan Designed pickups that came in the VM. The DD's were weaker and thinner and not my thing but OKish. However the 5 string VM Jazz Ive just bought has the 5 string Duncan Designed pickup and this sounds completely different. Much stronger and fuller than the 4string version. So much so Im considering keeping them in there!! How much would Duncan Designed cost if you could buy them as seperates? Probably about £40. Half of that cost because its got 'Duncan' on it. A -
Bought a nice Jazz 5 from Phil. Realy nice guy and good to deal with. Even when there was a kerfuffle with the courier there was no probs from his side. Very helpful and plays the game. cheers Phil. phew!! A
