  1. +1 anything that you can sling over your shoulder wins in my book. I have a TC Electronic amp bag and it's ideal for my PF350 and assorted cables and folders etc Truckstop
  2. Hello, Selling my practice amp! Main amp's an AC15 and I find I just use that all the time leaving this little bargain a bit redundant. Great clean tones; vibrant and lush. Overdrive channel I find a little compressed for my liking but certainly usable and nails those 80's rock tones. Very tweakable, 2 different clean 'voices' and 3 different overdriven 'voices' (modern, vintage etc) and responsive EQ. In good nick. A few scuffs throughout and could do with a clean but no structural issues and fabric grille is fine with no tears or bobbles. An easy one hand lift and perfect for pubs and small shows. Peavey build quality! Happy to post to mainland UK shan't imagine it'd cost more than £15. I'm happy to deliver for petrol money but would obviously prefer collection from St. Albans. Cash on collection or bank transfer please. No paypal! Feel free to haggle but no trades please. Cheers Alex
  3. Hello, I'm selling my recently acquired Ashdown combo because it doesnt really offer me much over my usual PF350/SP210 rig and I can't really afford to have a few hundred quid tied up in gear. That's not to say it's not good enough for me; it certainly is! It's just that it's a bit overkill for the type of gigs I do and sometimes I find it a little bulky. Included with this is a soft cover that has never, ever been used even once. So this is an immaculate, 8 year old, UK built ABM combo with a flightcase that it's lived in since day one. Absolutely no issues with it at all. As far as I can tell it is as new as it left the factory. It may only be a 2x10, but it is thunderously loud with oodles of bass that'll easily keep up with a loud drummer and two 4x12 loving guitarists. God knows why you'd want to use an extension cab with it, it really is deafeningly loud. A lot of people warned me about buying this saying it'll be too bass heavy for me; I that to be a bit unfair. This combo is as articulate as you like and carries plenty of zing. Yes, it's able to push ultra-low frequencies around the room but once you adjust the bass knob(!) a real nice growly tone emerges and makes my BB424 sing. A real vintage tone monster. Loads of features here: effects loop, 7-band EQ, switchable and blendable valve gain, sub-harmonic generator (basically a built in blendable octaver), post-EQ DI and passive/active inputs. Voltmeter lights up and works as it should. As i said previously, absolutely immaculate. Flightcase is also in good condition; secure, waterproof and has two lockable castors. Too heavy to post and will not sell without the flightcase. Happy to deliver anywhere on the mainland for petrol money but would obviously prefer collection from St. Albans. Cash or bank transfer please, no paypal! Price is £300 FIRM. No offers and no trades. Cheers Alex
  4. Hello, Selling my beloved Workingmans 10 as I dont really have a use for it anymore. I practice at home using headphones now that we have a baby in the house and I use my PF350/SP210 rig for everything now! 80w without an extension cab and 120w with. The speaker in this combo is so efficient and the cab so well designed that it really punches above its weight volume-wise. Much louder than you'd expect and ideal for pubs and other small venues. Great for garden parties and other events when you don't want waves of bass pounding through the ground or swamping the backline. Pre-EQ DI is very good, nice and quiet. Switchable tweeter is always handy (I've always kept it off because I found it a little noisy) and headphone-only switch very useful for those occasions when you want to practice silently or if the stage mix isn't very good and you want to hear yourself better. Even has a tilt-back mechanism for when you need to hear yourself a bit better. Tone-wise it's pretty flexible for its size. There's a sweepable parametric mid-range EQ knob which is useful as well as a 3-band EQ. Blendable effects loop completes the features. Easy one handed carry, very compact and very well constructed. Carpet looking a little old but no worn patches, no lifting away and no rips. Handle also completely secure and in good condition. I'ce had this for 18 months and in that time I've must have used it for 100 gigs as well as frequent rehearsals and home practice. Never missed a beat! It's quite heavy so expect postage to cost around £15. Collection from St. Albans preferred, of course, but happy to post or deliver for petrol money if you're not too far away. Bank transfer or cash please. No paypal! Cheers Alex
  5. I'd invest in a top spec rig over a ridiculously over-priced bass any day of the week. Essentially a £300 bass does the same things as a £3000 bass. A £3000 bass will not make you sound better if you're a sh*tty musician too. Truckstop
  6. The Ampeg PF's are actually quite bulky; you won't get those in a gig bag pocket. I currently have a 350 and have owned a 500 in the past. Great tone and feature packed but heavy for their size and bulky. I'd recommend the GK MB500 over anything else. Tiny, powerful, great tone and ultra-affordable. Truckstop
  7. At the £8-£12 price point they all sound the same to me. Clanky for a couple of hours and then settle for a few months until they need changing out of boredom. The selling point for me has always been tension. I like La Bella Stainless Steels because they're nice and slack. A lot of the budget strings seem to be a little too taut for me. As someone with a robust fingerstyle, I like slackness! Truckstop
  8. Find a mate with an attic and try your best not to forget about them!! No need to detune them and feel free to store any way you like. Truckstop
  9. Boss ME-20b is the best multi-fx out there I think. Good quality effects (apart from the synths), good construction, easy to use, very adaptable parameters and looks cool. Truckstop
  10. I had one of these a while ago as I regret moving it on. Terrific sounding cab; really vintage! Good price too. GLWTS Truckstop
  11. What a find! Terrific basses and I'm sure you'll love it. Truckstop
  12. I'd love to do 'We're in this Together' by Nine Inch Nails. Loads of power, addictive melody and terrific drumming. Can't see it going down too well at the Frog and Twat though. Truckstop
  13. I used an XB600 for years and years as my number one bass and was very happy with it. Good quality hardware, attractive and great tone ideal for many applications. Really can't get much better for the money! Truckstop
  14. Ha ha not yet Big D! No worries Jig, I should have kept bumping my wanted ad Truckstop
  15. Orange SP210. Very bass heavy and really tiny! Truckstop
  16. It's a resonator bass. Great sound and louder than standard acoustics. Used in folk and country a lot! Resonator basses are quite rare; you'd normally see them in their 6-stringer guise. Truckstop
  17. Oh bloody hell I was after one of these no less than a month ago! Ended up with an Ashdown ABM500 210 combo instead! GLWTS Alex
  18. Just the one! White Yamaha BB424x. Completely GAS free too. If I had money to spend on music gear I'd buy a synth rather than another bass that I don't need! Truckstop
  19. You need to train yourself to not look at the fretboard. Once you've mastered that you'll find it much easier! That said, I do agree that there are aome basslines that are too hard to play and sing over. Still can't sing the "sha la la la la" part of Brown Eyed Girl and play the line properly after probably 10 years of playing it. Truckstop
  20. Why don't you just sell it? Is there anything about it that you like?! Truckstop
  21. Is that a CSX1 (sp?) I see in front? Truckstop
  22. I think, rather, we're talking of our favourite Gluethier and Professional Bodger rather than John Hall of Rickenbacker fame. Truckstop
  23. The Ibanez would be a BTB-QM4 with a non-standard sort of bridge cover sort of thing. Nice basses but nothing too valuable or rare unfortunately! Truckstop
  24. Glad you're giving a 'cheapo' bass a new lease of life! I use my BB424x (paid £200) almost exclusively and it holds it's own against other instruments that cost much much more! Good tone comes from the player in my opinion anyway. A good player can make a dud sound terrific! Truckstop
