Dealing with feedback with an uncompromising drummer
Lozz196 replied to geoham's topic in General Discussion
Why not set the mics at a rehearsal to the point just before they feedback, set the backline to the volume of the drums. then record it and send it out to the whole band. Wait for the comments of “we can’t hear the vocals” to appear then explain why. -

Yep, to me this is the sound of someone who is able to play their instrument well but isn`t a good band member. -

I can't find a Band, What am I doing Wrong?
Lozz196 replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Having listened to a few tracks I’d describe your style as steady. As such I’d be looking at the better bands, you’re not going to be playing anything that gets in the way but your playing will provide a good foundation for great guitars and vocals on which to shine. -
Johnnie Walker's last radio show now on BBC R2
Lozz196 replied to casapete's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I think Vicious Sidney put him off a bit -
It is indeed a very worn but a very great bass, lot of history I’d venture to say.

Sometimes things come along when we least expect them, the main thing is be ready for them and be willing to both give them a try and to say no if not right.

“Whispering” Bob Harris to take over, at least the show will be in the hands of someone who understands it. -
Going into a guitar shop and not buying anything..
Lozz196 replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
At the rehearsal studio we use - Mill Hill - their reception is basic music shop & basic cafe. I always try to get there 30mins before rehearsal time so I can have a coffee and a Mars Bar, plus a look at what they’re selling. -
The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Good thing is he’s within driving distance so for me a lot easier to deal with. I’ll update on progress. -
Wow, not often you can say £3000 is a bargain but in this case I’d def say so.

If I’m in a music shop and they happen to stock Elixir strings then I’ll pick up a spare set, though this isn’t often, many don’t stock them. -

I’ve been looking into getting a short scale bass made to the specs I want and Maruszczyk seem to be the ones that can do it. Their configurator is very easy to use and looks like I can get what I’m after for around £1500. -
That’s a great deal

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Lozz196 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Not last night but Thursday we (The Spacewasters) got together as we’ve a gig next weekend, we only really rehearse when a gig is looming. Went very well, I lent the rhythm guitarist my BluGuitar Amp as he hates his amp (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe) and to all our ears it was a vast improvement, matched well with his Gretsch White Falcon. Playing wise was good, we’re putting in another song off of our forthcoming album and given that last time it didn’t sound so hot this time it worked really well which was great. We also tried a bit of the singer on guitar with the rhythm guitarist as the lead guitarist is leaving next year, again sounded good, though the singer is first to admit his limitations on guitar it worked well so we can gig without a replacement if necessary. -
The best Formal, and Informal, musical lesson of your life?

I had one of these years ago - mid 80s I think.

The best Formal, and Informal, musical lesson of your life?
Lozz196 replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
The two band leaders of my first proper bands taught me in pretty much equal parts what to do and what not to do whilst in a band. I should clarify this was in respect of things they did themselves, never in respect of advice given. Sometimes what they did made so much sense, other times I actually wondered if they needed a brain in their donkey to make their legs work as the one in their head clearly wasn’t up to the task of the most simple things. -
Yep, that would get a “Please return it, upon receipt I’ll refund the postage costs” response.

I used Roto steel rounds for years, that fresh out of the pack sound was ideal for the aggressive punk sound I had.
