  1. Yep that`s it, from experience of ruining screw-heads on many different things over the years, using the right one will stop this and enable you to use the amount of force needed to turn it no worries. It`s amazing how much difference it actually makes.
  2. And I`ll keep my eyes open for the southern ones. I saw the Jeff Lynne at Wembley gig on TV a few weeks back and enjoyed it a lot, would be great to see a band doing those songs live. Had forgotten just how enjoyable that music is.
  3. Whilst I love the sound & feel of big amps going (they don`t have to be massively loud tho, just to drums level) I have to admit that since wearing ear-plugs (ACS), which really reduce the volume of the whole band down, I can hear much more of what each instrument is doing and it does make rehearsing much more enjoyable. I`m yet to do a gig like this so can`t comment on that aspect.
  4. If I could play equally well with both I think the deciding factor would have to be which was more prevalent in the music style I was doing, for authenticity.
  5. The Professionals in 4 weeks time, am super excited.
  6. Definitely. In my band we wear earplugs as the drummer is just so loud (my ACS plugs deal with this tho) but I can feel the air from the rehearsal rooms 810, it’s very satisfying.
  7. Natural 79 & Candy Apple Red with Quarterpound pickups get my vote, both have a more "scoopy" sound to them.
  8. Having had both Ashdown & Barefaced cabs I`d say that BF will more than likely go louder (make that a definite), but that that is irrespective to me given that I prefer the sound of the Ashdowns, which are plenty loud enough for my needs.
  9. We had the Chief of Antwerp Police come on stage, hand on gun, hollering at us in Flemish. I’m not particularly fluent (as in I speak none) but I could tell he didn’t want to help on BVs.
  10. Definitely, in my last band I had a sound that was far from my preference but it was what suited the material/style of the band.
  11. Quite right too!
  12. Words fail me
  13. Great venue, used to love playing there
  14. Nice one, great venue too!
  15. Although I do tinker around at home playing finger style in a band setting it’s 100% pick.
  16. I had the Super 12T cab, always had the tweeter fully off and never had any problems with lack of highs. I’m not a crisp modern-highs player but the highs from the S12T were decent.
  17. I wasn’t aware of these, will check out, thanks
  18. Shame, I was never a particular fan of the Quo but his thumping basslines really drove the songs
  19. Waterfront by Simple Minds
  20. And for some reason he seems to start many words with the letter H, H’Wild Side for example
  21. Just measured it, 20mm centre to centre
  22. Yeah I got that, no malice intended with my post hence the smiley. Hanoi were an odd band, looked like all those hair metal bands but didn’t sound anything like them, a bit of a crossover from punk to rock I suppose. Def one of my faves tho.
  23. I remember the first time I saw Sami Yaffas white Gibson Thunderbird and thinking it was the most exotic cool looking bass
  24. Who said Nirvana weren’t ahead of their time, in 1991 they managed to get Hanoi Rocks to split up in 1985, even Dr Who would have struggled with that one 😀
  25. Duran Duran from 2011 in Manchester currently on. Good overall sound and when you can hear JTs bass on its own he has a very nice sound, fits well in the mix without being too bassy, middy or trebly.
