  1. That’s good to hear Dave, I don’t want too much of a difference, just enough to reduce the boom and the effort on the cones a bit.
  2. The Korean Squiers are very good basses, def worth a look I’d say
  3. Likewise
  4. Sold One Seymour Duncan Precision Quarterpound pickup, including attached pots/capacitor/input-jack, all you need do is solder your ground wire on and ready to go. Price includes delivery in the UK
  5. Really like that, excellent song, great production and love the attack on the drums
  6. Great colour co-ordination Andy, looks really good
  7. Classic set up
  8. My thoughts too
  9. Yeah I’ve got a Tech21 Q-strip on way which has an HPF on it, think removing all that excess is the way to go.
  10. For my uses most amps seem to have the bass just a bit too low, but then I suppose manufacturers have to take into account those that detune, and 5-string basses. When I listen to the bass sounds of the songs that I grew up with in the 70s & 80s they’re not deep low down bass at all, though at they time they seemed so.
  11. Sold One Badass III Bridge in good condition, comes with 3 fixing screws. Fits US Fenders, allowing through-body stringing. Price includes insured delivery in the UK.
  12. Sold One standard wind Lindy Fralin pickup. I only bought this a week or so ago from our very own Chiliwailer but have realised yet again that my own Custom Shop 62s are the best for me so moving it on. Link below to the original ad. Price includes insured delivery in the UK.
  13. Holy low end Robin, pass me the Bat-bass
  14. Very true Chris, last night at band practice I cut at 40Hz and the result was my Precision supported nicely with a good strong presence but no low-end boom/sludge.
  15. The opposite for me, as I’d just joined a band doing much more difficult songs than I was previously used to just before COVID began I kept up practicing them and have improved big time over the last 18 months. Which is nice.
  16. It’s strange but I’ve recently realised that I’m not keen on cabs that go too low in frequency as they seem to separate the bass from the rest of the instruments rather than placing it with them. Re the larger cabs, one of the best cabs I ever had was a Marshall VBC412, obviously big, 100lbs+ but oh, the sound, didn’t need to add much in the way of low end on the amp, it was just solid and beefy.
  17. Looks great and Yammy BBs are great basses, congrats
  18. Yup 👍
  19. I heard the new songs earlier and to me they sound like they could have fitted in with the material from back in the day, which is a compliment btw, great band, great songs.
  20. Might be worth checking out Ashdown ABM600 Steve. Not all valve but a very nice warm sound when the valve is engaged and designed so it can be fixed/maintained at Ashdown HQ in Essex. Very flexible eq, bags of power, and at 13kg a lot easier on the back than all-valve.
  21. I’ve just got one for a backup Precision I’ve just bought so the residing Quarterpounder will be on its way soon, Toneriders are great, sound very much like the Fender Custom Shop 62s but at a fraction of the price.
  22. You’ll be a majority shareholder soon
  23. Yeah, in my punk band, admittedly using a Sansamp as well, my gain was at 2 o’clock, rare I ever needed to go past 9 o’clock on volume and that was on the RM500 into one of the same cabs. At the settings described above I think even Lemmy would have got earache.
  24. I felt that with my Big Twin II, although my sound was very trebly/twangy/aggressive the low end on the E string seemed to boom a bit. Any reduction in low end and the rest of the strings sounded like elastic bands and lowering the pickup under the E just meant it was then much quieter than the other strings. To be fair I have to say that was the only BF cab I had that issue with, and have had a fair few over the years. Some cabs just don’t seem to suit what you’re doing as much as others.
  25. That was def a tale that rang true for me too, for some reason rather than just buy a Precision I chased the sound with many others only to be dissatisfied all the time. Daft thing is over that period I spent more than a Precision would have cost. In fact my first “real” bass, a Yamaha BB1100s was £450 and at the time a US Precision was £325, but out of stock. Impatient me couldn’t wait, had to have a bass now!
