  1. There are a good few threads on here about them, all very positive.
  2. Shared back-line in many cases is cabs only/bring your own amp head, as a lot of bands don`t like others using their amps. I`ve been in originals bands for years and this is pretty much the norm, unless full back-line provided by the venue. Having a pre-amp pedal can work nicely if there is either an amp already there that you can use, or if not, good monitoring with the option of going straight to the PA. I tend to take both amp and pedal (my pre-amp/DI is a Behringer BDI21 which costs about £30 so not a huge outlay). I think given that you loved the Orange Terror go with that or the Little Bass Thing.
  3. Just checked them out on YouTube, think you’re right there’s an extra energy in the live stuff. Singer has a great voice, very distinctive.
  4. I also have another reason for not gigging my fave/best bass, as my back has got rotten I can now only play lighter weight short-scale basses, so a 10lb Precision doesn`t work for me anymore. But as said I play it stacks at home so it`s not being wasted, but even if I were no longer able to do that it has too much sentimental value to move on.
  5. LFSys or Barefaced will be good, with LFSys being our very own @stevie
  6. Great setup @Linus27, nothing boring there imo.
  7. Yeah I get that, I’m going to Carlisle for a long weekend soon and it’s £350 before I’ve spent anything on food/refreshments.
  8. I`m not that fussed about damage to my basses - they`re Fenders so not too much that can seriously do them in, it`s more if someone stole them. I`d be annoyed if any of them got nicked but my fave, well if that went walkies it would make me seriously unhappy hence why I don`t gig it.
  9. Good luck, with that kind of preparation am sure you`ll get it
  10. Same, I can while away a very nice hour or two totally immersed in playing along to songs on YouTube - did so earlier this evening. Great way to chill.
  11. Def not imo, my fave gets played far more than any of the others, and as it’s my fave to play I also do all my learning on that one. I can’t see how lacking a 30min set of root-note punk songs once every couple of months would mean it’s not being played properly.
  12. My fave Precision doesn`t go outside my flat. It`s by far from irreplaceable as an item as it`s a regular US Standard Precision but it has too much sentimental value for me to risk taking it to areas where it could be half-inched. I use it far more than any of my other basses as it`s my home use bass so not like it`s a case-queen.
  13. Watched The Lightning Seeds at Isle of Wight on Sky Arts last night, was pretty good, vocals wavering a bit at times but overall enjoyable.
  14. I like that too, simple, straightforward, and let the music do the talking.
  15. My back is bad and have gone short-scale, have a Sandberg Superlight on order (2 year waiting list, aaarrrggh). I`ve also started using a Mono GS1 strap, and heightened it as before had the low-down punk setting which doesn`t help posture. The combination of a shorter bass with its centre of gravity being more over the core of my body, plus the thicker padded strap and playing the instrument higher up have all made a difference. I don`t use pedals with screens but if I did I would be in the same position so would be looking at one with a bigger screen or lets say 3 patches where each could be selected like on the Zoom B3, and then just add this on to my copy of the set list so as to know which patch for which songs.

  17. Good call, maybe having varifocals but as shades could also be an option in retaining “coolness”.
  18. I think it can, out of my gigging band I think it’s the least payer for the others as we don’t take any money aside from expenses. Maybe it’s because we don’t play that often that keeps us motivated, I don’t know exactly but there’s never a problem with any band members not being prepared/rehearsed.
  19. Same here, on both regular trains and on the London Underground too.
  20. Nice bass, screams 80s metal which is no bad thing imo. If naming it it will have to be Spiky McSpike of Spikyland.
  21. My old band, who I’m currently standing in for have just done a mini tour of Belgium & Germany with a dep. I said when I agreed to stand in no touring - plus I was meant to be working this weekend anyway. The dep was based in Germany so had no rehearsals with them yet the gigs apparently went well. Dep success story backing up your point methinks Chris.
  22. Or as our drummer used to describe it Dan, cheesecake yellow.
  23. Yes, it’s a shame this happens with Rotosounds, I had it a few times with the E, no idea about G as back in those days the G was like an unwanted/unused free gift.
  24. Excellent, quite typically although I’m now back as a stand-in for Knock Off they don’t have Rebellion this year so won’t get the chance to see you there, am sure our paths will cross soon tho.
  25. I find it amazing in this day & age, where everyone carries a calendar with them (in their phone) all the time, that it takes some so long to reply with availability. Look at calendar, reply, not the hardest task of the day.
