1. Wot happened to Foldy?
2. Yes - he's on the interview footage but I've not seen him on the performance vids. Consistent with his retirement from public performance.
3. Apparently the R&RHoF are inducting the 'Union' line-up which was Yes-West and ABWH so if you go with their logic, TR should be there. The question is where is Tony Kaye? Anywho, on a bass related matter, who'd have thought that a turquoise Jazz would be more Rick than a Rick. My guess is that Geddy felt this matched the tone best of Chris Squire's heavily modified Rick. Whilst I'd have loved Geddy to play some righteous Rick, he made a very respectful tribute on a great sounding Jazz.
4. Oh wait... here's some unofficial footage Ged and Yes whoop! And he sounds great https://www.youtube....h?v=bfhI6nBZOLc Rest of Yes aren't really acknowledging him to much though!
5. Well apparently it happened! Geddy played with Yes but he didn't use the Rick!!! Interview here but I've not seen any footage of the playing yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3fiIbs4fQk
6.
So who made the first five string bass? And when? I'm intrigued now...
Not sure it was the very first but Fender had a production Bass V in 1965.
7. No sorry
8.
From Rush.com's "rig rundown" section, 1989: The colour-coding apparently helped him when he was breaking in a new ARP synthesiser and bass pedal arrangement.
I so agree about Geddy's Wal sound... on the other hand, I agree with the poster who said when they played one themselves it sounded incredible. I think maybe a different producer could have got more balls out of Geddy's Wal..
9. I passed as I'm not a fan of what Rabin does to the 'classic' material. However I do quite like the modern material with him but really as a separate entity. (No co-incidence that the mighty contrapuntal Squire simplified his lines considerably under Rabin in the hope of hits.) Sort of regretting passing this over as its probably their last hurrah... given their ages and health... Similarly, although I think the R&RHoF is a self-important, self-imposed, irrelevance - that said, I'm looking forward to their induction and hope Geddy Lee does get to play on Roundabout.
10.
Mr Pomeroy I believe?
It was on the US leg. Did they play any new material?
11. Posts about half the same quantity from last year which was down on the year before. I didn't recognise many of the brands or guests from this year's event - is that the problem? Seems like the years of Ibanez and Gary Wills together with Status and Mark King are behind us? I didn't go this year so I don't know - what do you think?
12. Yes this would have been great if it happened... but its been clarified Geddy and Alex are just inducting them.

14.
Neither of them are series I or II instruments.
OK sorry I'm not an Alemnerd.... how about this then? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlCzYpr-98Q
15. Not a T-bird aficionado.... until now. Gorgeous
16. Mark King in Level 42 when they went mainstream
17. Some more 'bics for you.... including a guitar euw!!!! Not sure if they're series 2s but enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp-xQZYkk7A
18. Great vid - lovely playing and that bass is a thing of beauty. It's a good tune too with a great line. If I can be a little pedantic here, the sound of an Alembic is in that growly low-impedance sound with tone woods. So your crunch tone, whilst reproducing Geddy's gritty sound nicely masks the Alembic ringing purity... I guess it depends on the purpose of your vid! But glad that you did it...
19. Read your own question: 'that'd mean sending the money for an untested item to an unknown person with little guarantee'... be patient and wait to do it in person. On the other hand, your could test your alias and give it a go...
20. Right chaps I know this whole HPF and LPF gets pretty gnarly quickly and goes into sub-sonic filtering for speaker efficiency but what do we think to this? http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/effects/qstrip.html Sounds good to me... gets a 'Rick 'o' tone' out of a P-bass...
21. I'm with you on this one... looked for a thread but nothing happening so well done for starting one. (I was at work so time short.) Think he had his demons but also some serious talent. I'll put forward this as my favourite solo of his... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpdkslpMJV8 Kicks off at 1:20 but gets sublime at 1:40
22. Who's on bass? This is obviously post-Jimmy H
23. We've had a thread on this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258272-semi-acoustic-sixes/page__p__2752507__hl__thundercat__fromsearch__1#entry2752507 And moreover it was located properly under Bass Guitars. No worse a crime than failing to post in the relevant category.
24. Very sad - great musician and voice - that completes the trio of killer original prog bassists along with Chris Squire and Greg Lake
25. Wow - there must be a combined record sales of 13 cds there!
