  2. Hi - looking to move my Epiphone on. Not sure how exclusive the Custom Shop is, but from what I've found online is that this was a limited edition short scale version of the Gibson EB3 which is a lot more faithful to the original than the current long scale model. Love the white finish, which again doesn't seem to have been produced in large numbers. Plays really well with a set of La Bella flats & sounds pretty authentic. Comes with a gig bag, but won't be able to post so looking for a cash/collection deal in Newcastle upon Tyne. Would possibly consider trades for another short scale bass with cash either way - give me a shout if you're interested... 😉👍
  3. Looks awesome! How are you going to wire the pickup? I'd suggest 2 x series in parallel with 2 x series. So you get two series humbucking halves in parallel with each other.
  4. Sadly needs must, my friend! They are a thing of wonder...
  5. I say Ho-tone, but that's because I'm peurile like that. It's probably Hot Tone, but smashed together into one word so hard that one of the letter Ts got squashed.
  6. Hey Luke, I'm a fan of Overwater basses for sure, but I'm sorted in the 5 string Jazz department, cheers though!
  7. Quick update. Played the GK today for an hour. No issues. Recorded two quick samples with the contour button engaged and disengaged. I also attach the EQ settings. Still keep the low price as I cannot promise that the problems I had during the heatwave may not come back (during the next heatwave, for example). So, maybe only play it on cold days to be on the safe side? 😉 V_20240427_153859_ES3.mp4 V_20240427_153756_ES3.mp4
  8. He was a pleasure to deal with when I bought my 51 P bass. I even sent him the strings I wanted on it and he cut the nut for them. It was well set up and very playable bass out of the box. I really like the neck too. Like I said earlier, this won't be my last Retrovibe. I have a hankering for one of those blue Tele basses...
  9. I have a particular dislike for that term. What makes something "real music"? What music is not real music? Is it a real thing or just snobbery? Metal fans are particularly guilty of this sort of thing, arguing over what's real and what isn't.
  10. thanks! appreciated the clarification on the head and the offer!! thanks! 🙂
  11. A question to more experienced than me players, which is everyone How critical are the positions of the bass pickups in your opinion? Does it make a difference if pickups are 5mm out in different positions, or 10mm or doesn't it make a lot of difference? All views welcomed. The reason for asking is that I'm looking at a new centre plate for the bass guitar and I wanted to be able to use different bass pickups. These all require mounting holes and they start to collide. It's getting a bit crowded in there. There are holes for neck and bass jazz pickups, thunderbird style pickups and split precision pickups. Also there are backplate mounting pickups and bridge pickups. Not put on holes for the neck yet either or other mounting holes that need to go down the edge either. It does fit but I'm moving things around 2-3mm to avoid collisions.
  12. Bought some strings from Jim. They were really well packaged, in excellent condition & he was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to end with faultless communication. Needless to say, but I will that I would recommend him to all BC’rs without reservation. Thanks again Jim👍
  13. I cant alter the price in the title which should have been £2500 and not £2700 Here I have for sale a 1974 Fender P in sunburst When I got this bass it had been sprayed in red some years ago which happened quite a lot back in the 70's/80's Luckily I managed to remove the paint without damaging the beautiful burst underneath, this took a long time and was a very slow process Funnily that he only removed the pickguard and taped over the pickups when it was sprayed and the cavities were intact, the red you see now was my doing when I rubbed down the paint and it ran into the cavities I applied a coat of clear nitro to protect the colour The pickguard was shipped from the USA as the one on it was a cheap aftermarket one, this one is a vintage RI aged which cost £100 Previous owner was a thumb digger judging by the divot he left Some of the screws may or may not be original Truss rod is working fine Plenty of life in the frets I snapped the G string in case you were wondering, if I get a new set this week I will install them Pots are original and dated 73 and the pickups are dated 74 Nut Width is 40mm Weight is 4.00Kg's which is quite good for this era I am not playing bass anymore but I still like to dabble in fixing up and restoring guitars to keep me busy Any question please fire away
  14. I always wondered... Is it Ho-tone or Hot-one?
  15. I’d be dropping you a message if it wasn’t for the weight (which will be absolutely fine for someone else). Very cool bass! Si
  16. It really isn't. £110 to ship 1 bass to the UK, that would be pretty good. 11000 to ship 100 basses? not so good. £335, seems like a good deal. £520, nothing special there then.
  17. Greetings from Holland, This week I made an account, I think this is a nice and generally friendly forum, I like it! I am not someone to post a lot or start threads, but now I can [like] posts that I appreciate and ask questions. I started playing bass in 1989 and joined bands playing punk, deaf-metal, new wave, crossover, sludge and some experimental stuff. Right now I play in a drums and bass punk-ish duo. The drummer is singing and she encouraged me to start singing (well, lets call it shouting..) as well. I am so glad I did! I feel much more engaged with the music now that I do. No gigging with this duo, yet. On TalkBass I have an account with the same name and profile picture. I joined there because of a specific effect pedal I like. Here on Basschat I also will probably spend most time on the effect sub-forum. Thank you for reading my introduction!
  18. Dead on 8lb Dan. The tried and tested bathroom scales method.
  19. Darkglass Harmonic Booster preamp pedal. I recently bought this from our own Berserker as I have had GAS to try one of these for some considerable time. Bought to hopefully add some ‘secret sauce’ to my fretless bass sound, I’ve found that as good as it is, it’s not enough to force something else off my pedalboard. if you are in the market for a quality, well made, clean preamp pedal then I’d recommend you give this a go. From the marketing blurb I understand it also plays nicely with other Darkglass pedals. Comes in the original box with the candy included and the only difference between this and a new one is the Velcro on the bottom. I’m just looking to recover what I paid, and the price includes UK postage. Any questions, please ask.
  20. Excellent hardly played condition, not even broken in yet. These came off a Stingray 5 that I've since sold. 45/65/80/100/130, standard long scale, cut for a 4+1 headstock. £30, no trades please
