  1. Past hour
  2. Benny and Miss Diane? I remember that, although not many do. I think it was in the directors cut. **
  3. Value is a slippery thing. There are a lot of giggable bases under £300, especially with some minimal tweaks and upgrades. I find value in my boutique bass when it encourages me to play it. So does a less expensive instrument, just not in the same way. The Pedulla is no case queen, but inspires me to play better.
  4. Who, I believe, was aping the Corronation Street theme tune. It's a rich tapestry...
  5. Don't know what model Sonny Thompson's Dolph is .... being white and that. Equipboard reckons it's a mere SN, not a Pro1, Paired with a big Trace rig ...as did Nirvana.... which is an unexpectedly great combination. If only I had the space I'd have kept my old trace combo just for the dolphin.
  6. Hi all My priorities have recently changed, it's no longer realistic to continue with double basses, so up for sale is my Stagg EUB. It's in good condition and comes with it's case, which is also in good condition. Collection from South Essex nr junction 26 of the M25 please Thanks BC
  7. EHX Bass microsynth for sale. It is in pretty much immaculate condition and sounds incredible. Bought for a project but no longer needed. Runs on 9v power so really easy to hook up. No original box unfortunately but it will come packed and with be posted special delivery with Royal Mail to a UK address. Alternatively you are welcome to collect from Leicester and I will knock a tenner off the price. Would look at trades for a nice fuzz/ fuzz octave/ overdrive
  8. I've just received Dave's EHX Bassballs, it arrived quickly and very well packed. I've just spent a couple of hours playing with this incredibly fun pedal - cheers Dave!
  9. Keep on - don;t watching eurovision in future.
  10. Electro Voice Force 10 speaker 8 ohms 150 watts. These are renowned as being a great quality series of speakers from EV, this one came out of my mate's Peterson guitar combo. Works fine, I did some research and established it would also be fine in a bass cabinet. Don't want to post so collection welcome or happy to meet within a 25 mile radius of Daventry.
  11. This the one I got. It's so weird looking! I normally play doom and black metal hahaha. It's so out of my comfort zone since it's so colourful. I absolutely love it though. Very comfortable and sounds good.
  12. FTFY, if there's one way to wind up Forest fans it's to call the club Notts Forest, Forest, Nottm Forest or Nottingham Forest all fine. on the subject of Eurovision, haven't watched it for years, it's middle of the road Saturday entertainment, like Strictly, Britain's got Talent etc, I don't watch those either
  13. Today
  14. A while back, it was the roller-rinks. Dance marathons had their day. Circuses roamed the land, setting up, then moving on. Street drama troops busked between towns and cities. These things and more had their day, and Life moved on. There's always been live music, for troubadours and sponsored orchestras. There's no reason why rock'n'roll should get a free pass. The wheel turns.
  15. Bog standard poly caps is where you need to be . Don't buy in to the whole mojo tone cap thing Rob . Snake oil salesmen . Paper in oil capacitors died out about the time of Marconi for good reason .
  16. Glad you’re enjoying it, I’d have felt a bit guilty if not 🤣
  17. Nice video and intersting channel https://youtube.com/@knowyourbassplayer?si=dgAoVXYCza2sKgG1
  18. Well it's getting closer ........... maybe this or perhaps this .........
  19. Reviving an old thread, as one of these arrived for me this week. My old octaver broke. I'd heard great things about the tracking in the Okto, so here we are. Octave side does not disappoint. Goes from dubby to OC-2esque, and tracks really low. Probably justifies the price alone. Genuinely as solid and versatile as any octave I've tried, including the 3 Leaf stuff. Fuzz side is synth city. I won't have much need for that live, but it makes for some proper fun. Low gain sounds very much like demos of the 3 Leaf Doom (though I've never played one). Really unique. High gain is chaos. Not a big fan of the sub-octave distortion, but there's more than enough going on with the synth-fuzz and octave. Love it! For 170 quid delivered from Bass Direct, this seems one of the better bargains out there. Surprised there's not a little more hype, as it ticks many boxes for bassists. Someone had said above they wondered whether they would set it as a single octave fuzz, or like 2 separate pedals. I'm thinking of it as a standalone fuzz alongside a standalone octaver, both of which sound great into an envelope filter. Using it live on Saturday, and can't wait!
  20. Just watched the errm. performance by some LGBTQHMVUSSRSOS....creature by the name of Bambi Thug. And to think My Little Horse scored nil points
  21. My first guitar of good quality cost me £125 in ‘75, an Aria, law suit, Les Paul (bolt on neck). Apparently, that equates to about £1130 in today’s prices. I’m amazed that I spent that much back then, it didn’t feel like a massive amount at the time, not cheap, but definitely OK (it was nearly all the money I had earned from a job in the summer holidays). Spending that kind of money these days on anything, gives me pause and maybe I’m not being realistic? Heaven alone knows what the equivalent cost of a Fender or Gibson would be compared to back then. Perhaps it’s merely crossing certain lines in the monetary sand that makes us wince? Also, maybe we’re in a golden age of good instruments for, by comparison to decades ago, little money.
