  1. Past hour
  2. yes the bass is sound, I know it well
  3. I know the paint man that used to work at Sims, he's my next port of call The bass was always stored after gigs. I don't think he ever cleaned it
  4. Today
  5. that's the numbers i recall
  6. thanks ...i never intended to have so many but my problem is i can't sell any .. i see positives in all of them ...probably getting a little out of hand to be honest ...a precision was my only bass for many years but i sold it ...i wonder if i can sneak another one in..?
  7. Admittedly they're a bit of a wild claim, but let me reassure you that when the guitarist f*cks his volume setting up and you've neglected to put a limiter on the mixer, the result is mind-buggeringly loud.
  8. That’s literally down the road from me, I’m gonna go have a look at the weekend. Quite surprised to see a bass of that calibre in that shop, it does seem like a bit of a novelty market shop but I suppose with Trinity, Greenwich uni and Ravensbourne in the local area there are a lot musicians and music / art students hanging out around there. Not that any of them will be able to afford that bass. (Although you never know, there are still lots of international billionaire trust fund kids coming to London to study).

  10. I got an email saying that they're still waiting for them to arrive, though it should be in the next few days. Didn't buy from the same place as you though, so we'll see whose shows up first.
  11. I’d say the absolute opposite, synth pedals are for bedroom players or as a compromised solution for gigging where you can’t / don’t want to use an actual synth. Look on pro stages, there’s a lot of synth bass, not many synth bass pedals.
  12. I’ve got terrible GAS for a Novation Peak - anyone got one? Any hints, tips, irritating quirks?
  13. I hope it's a bit lighter than my Database combo (400W 1x15) - that has it's own gravitational field! My back loves the fact I don't gig it any more 😁
  14. The categories are to make duplicate threads unnecessary. Also, the benefit of more than one listing might not be much. I suggest sticking with amps and cabs, because your potential customers will know where to look.
  15. I have one of the old wedge shaped Ampeg BA-108 practice amps. It is a bit chunky, but sounds like a bass amp and can just about handle a low B. Ampeg have some new amps out these days though from 30W upwards, that might be worth checking out. My main gigging amp is an excellent Fender Rumble v3 500 combo, but I have no experience of the smaller amps in the range
  16. Could you take a photo of the Oberwater serial number/date etc that will be inside the control panel? Thanks
  17. Ragged & Dirty — C.W. Stoneking
  18. I've seen welded, but never soldered cables. Tinning copper makes it brittle, which can lead to scary end results.
  19. Do you know the string spacing at the bridge and the weight? Cheers
  20. For Sale: Tobias Toby Pro, mid 2000s 3-band active, through neck bass £395. We donated a few instruments to a Secondary School I teach at this week and this Toby Pro Bass seemed way too good to become a 'School Beater Bass', so it's up for sale/trade with a view to replacing it with a couple of cheap Squiers (or instruments of similar value) that we can donate to the school. Formerly housed with the 'Moo Collection' (including the infamous Moo-Wood Status KingBasses), the Bass sounds really good for a relatively budget instrument. I believe these were made in the Korean Cort factory. Some are badged as 'Made in Korea' and others just have the U serial numbers. Condition is good, apart from a couple of small scuffs in the lacquer on the back, but there are no chips or gouges. The bass is fully operational, sounds great and has been set up with a medium-low action on Ernie Ball 45-100 Slinky's. There is a generic GigBag included with the sale. Remember that this instrument is on sale to generate funds or cheaper instruments to donate to a school, so I'm not going to drop the price. So if you'd like to buy the bass to generate funds for the school beater basses, or trade a couple of cheap basses, let me know Will happily post this one, or potential buyers can collect from Derbyshire, 10 mins off M1 J25, or will travel to meet you half way, up to 100 miles from DE7.

  21. Check out the TC Electronic BG250 combos. Great for home practice but loud enough to jam with mates and even gig. They come in 2x8”, 2x10”, and 1x15” formats. I’ve got the 2x8” version and I love it, and yes I’ve gigged it albeit in an acoustic gig. They seem to go for about £120-£150 secondhand and will be more future proof than a 30-50 watt practice amp.
  22. Congratulations and welcome to the (addictive) club. The best advice I can offer is get help with hand / body position before you start to bake in problems that can even result in permanent injury. If there’s no tutors near you, then there’s some great advice for free from Discover Double Bass on YouTube. That said, I’m sure your cello experience will come in useful 😎
  23. Set of 4 hipshot licenced 1/2inch chrome clover head tuners. Set of 3+1 so suitable for Musicman stingray or Sterling 4 string. Excellent condition. These are not reversible so won’t fit a 4 in a line headstock
  24. Okay chums, further price drop: now £60 including p & p in the UK. These are a good set of Fender pickups with some nice midrange poke to them. Grab yourself a bargain! 😜
  25. £500 including postage for a new Sadowsky 👍
  26. Tried a new rehearsal space with the originals band tonight. Tea, coffee a fridge with milk and cans of pop. Even a packet of choccie buscuits. Played a Warwick Gnome through a ~12" Orange speaker, sounded ok but when I gently boosted middle and cut bass it went very brittle and odd, so I set it back where I found it with a fair bit of bass boost. Gain and master both low. Decent electric drum kit (dodgy cymbal feel apparently) so we could keep volume down. Less space led us to a good sound. Apologised for going increasingly ott towards the end of a song that starts slow and speeds up, but that was liked. It's a three chord fairly slow number (66bpm) so getting more intense and doubling the tempo (bars don't get shorter, we just put in more notes) halfway keeps it interesting. All enjoyed it.
